  1. I would like to go from Suvarnabhumi Airport to a hotel on Soi Sukhumvit 13 at 9:30 am in the morning. It is about 32 km.  What would be a fair taxi Cost from for that including tolls?

I asked a taxi driver that I used before in Pattaya if he could take me there and then to Central World Mall.  He said someone on his team could do it for 1000 baht.  I think that is a bit high.  I was thinking of asking to just go to the hotel and taking the BTS to the mall.

It auto-renews for six months. Some plans accept part payment; 7 days or 15 days. I cannot say if that plan will offer the same. The way to find out is to just have 100 baht in credit for the second period. If no go, another 200 baht won't break your bank. 400 baht for 39 days still represents good value.

If too much, you could subscribe to their 4Mbps(15GB) package for 150 baht. But that's poor value in comparison.

Thanks for the reply!  200 baht is still a good price for 9 days.

If I ask for a regular SIM at the airport, will it be the same as the one I would buy at the AIS store at Central World Mall?  I think it will be, but want to make sure.

AIS SIM 50 baht from service centre(not at the airport).  Turn Mobile Data OFF on your phone, top up 200 baht and then apply the 9273 code shown on this page, followed by the Dial key: https://www.ais.th/consumers/package/netpackage/mnppackage

Once you receive SMS confirmation, you can switch mobile data to ON and then apply a second code *777*7673# followed by the dial key. That will add another 10GB of data to your package.

    ,,,

I will be in Thailand for 39 days, starting in early September.  Does this plan auto-renew?  What's the best way to get 9 more days of data at 1 Mbps or faster?  I only use about 8 GB of data per month.

  4. In December 2019, my ALT was 81 iu/l and my AST was 37 iu/l.  I had NAFLD.  My doctor advised me to change my diet and eat less saturated fat and trans fat.  I stopped eating fried foods and limited eating hamburgers to once per week.  After eight months, I had another blood test and my ALT and AST levels were within the normal range.

1 2 3 4 or at least it used to be according to my 7 year old sim documentation slip.

    Naka.

1 2 3 4 worked as the default PIN today, Dec. 13, 2021, on my new AIS 1 2 Call SIM, that I bought two days ago.  Thanks for the information!

I like to lock the SIM because I had a phone stolen once and the thief moved the load off the sim card to another account.  If your SIM is registered to you, with AIS, and the SIM is locked, you can transfer the load to another SIM.

went out for a walk tonight and passed by <DELETED> and it was rammed full of people drinking and I mean in the hundreds - there is nowhere else for any new tourists to go at night so they are all crammed into one small area - it really is at breaking point

something urgently needs to change - just crazy

I hope that Pattaya allows most restaurants to serve alcohol to avoid the crowding.  Other people may want the few places, serving on the down low, to get closed and for tourists to drink alone in their hotel rooms.  We will see what happens.

  7. I rented a motorbike last May at a shop in the Soi Buakhao area, but I wouldn't recommend the place.  The speedometer was disconnected and I never knew if I was speeding or not.  I think the shop owner did this to keep the kilometers off the odometer.  Also, the guy would siphon most of the gas out of the tank when bikes were returned.  That way customers would have to buy gas from him.

I would recommend asking to do short test rides of motorbikes, to make sure the speedometers work, before you rent one.

Be aware that if you drive with an International Driving Permit or a short term license, you can get a DUI with a BAC of 0.02%.  That is one beer for most of us.  You need to have a 5 year Thai driver's license to have the the limit 0.05%.  This law helps the police make money from tourists.

I believe the law is 0.2 if on temporary licence or held it for less than 2 years and 0.5 (or equivalent Thai measurement) if 5 year license. Happy to be corrected

Thanks for posting this!  According to Pattaya Unlimited you are correct.  I go to Thailand as a tourist every year or two and drive with an International Driving Permit and my US motorcycle license.  The BAC limit for me would be 0.02%. One beer and I could get a DUI in Thailand.  I always thought the limit would be 0.05% for all scooter and car drivers in Thailand, but I was wrong.  Now I know that I can't drink any alcohol and drive a scooter in Thailand.

the legal limit for blood alcohol content while driving with a full (5 year) Thai driving license in Thailand is 0.05 (50 milligrams). The legal limit while driving on a 1 to 2 year Thai driving license or international driving permit is 0.02 (20 milligrams). This legal limit equates to grams of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

Those look like Dryers. Do their washing machines utilise warm/hot water?

I don't know if they have warm water for the washing machines because I didn't go inside.  A friend of mine mentioned that he hasn't seen any dryers in Pattaya, so I took that picture to show him that there are some.

I wash my clothes in cold water with just a little detergent to preserve the colors.  I find that if I hang the clothes on coat hangers, they dry within a day in my hotel room.  Hot water would be good for white bed sheets to get them extra clean.

Here is a google maps photo of the outside of the place.

  11. I went to Dr Warin about 6 years ago.  I wanted him to clean my teeth and take x-rays.  He refused to take
x-rays and kept saying "next time".  I told him it had been over a year since I had x-rays and would like to
have them, but he still refused.  He said that he could see that I didn't have any cavities.

About a month later when I was in the USA, I had pain in one of my molars.  My dentist here found a large
cavity on the side of the tooth.  I almost needed a root canal.  My dentist said I should of had x-rays done
    earlier.

About a year later, I visited Thailand again and asked some expat friends who they recommend.  They liked
Pattaya Dental Clinic, so I went there.  Pattaya Dental Clinic did Panoramic Dental X-ray for about 800 baht
and did a good job of cleaning my teeth.

A month ago, I had periodontal surgery at the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and I am happy with the results.  They
have dentists with many different specialties including periodontists.

One of my expat friends likes German Dental and has been going there for years.

I would say that it is okay to go to Dr Warin, but if he refuses to do x-rays, get them done somewhere else.
