  1. In December 2019, my ALT was 81 iu/l and my AST was 37 iu/l.  I had NAFLD.  My doctor advised me to change my diet and eat less saturated fat and trans fat.  I stopped eating fried foods and limited eating hamburgers to once per week.  After eight months, I had another blood test and my ALT and AST levels were within the normal range.

1 2 3 4 or at least it used to be according to my 7 year old sim documentation slip.

    Naka.

1 2 3 4 worked as the default PIN today, Dec. 13, 2021, on my new AIS 1 2 Call SIM, that I bought two days ago.  Thanks for the information!

I like to lock the SIM because I had a phone stolen once and the thief moved the load off the sim card to another account.  If your SIM is registered to you, with AIS, and the SIM is locked, you can transfer the load to another SIM.

went out for a walk tonight and passed by <DELETED> and it was rammed full of people drinking and I mean in the hundreds - there is nowhere else for any new tourists to go at night so they are all crammed into one small area - it really is at breaking point

something urgently needs to change - just crazy

I hope that Pattaya allows most restaurants to serve alcohol to avoid the crowding.  Other people may want the few places, serving on the down low, to get closed and for tourists to drink alone in their hotel rooms.  We will see what happens.

I believe the law is 0.2 if on temporary licence or held it for less than 2 years and 0.5 (or equivalent Thai measurement) if 5 year license. Happy to be corrected

Thanks for posting this!  According to Pattaya Unlimited you are correct.  I go to Thailand as a tourist every year or two and drive with an International Driving Permit and my US motorcycle license.  The BAC limit for me would be 0.02%. One beer and I could get a DUI in Thailand.  I always thought the limit would be 0.05% for all scooter and car drivers in Thailand, but I was wrong.  Now I know that I can't drink any alcohol and drive a scooter in Thailand.

the legal limit for blood alcohol content while driving with a full (5 year) Thai driving license in Thailand is 0.05 (50 milligrams). The legal limit while driving on a 1 to 2 year Thai driving license or international driving permit is 0.02 (20 milligrams). This legal limit equates to grams of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

  5. I had an appointment with a periodontist named Dr. Dissayawadee Katudat, DDS, M.SC., at the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, on the first weekday of my trip.  Her english skills are good and she explained the details of the gum surgery to me and told me it would cost a total of about 40,000 thb ( $1260 USD ) including the medications.  I decided to go ahead with the surgery in Thailand.

So far, I am happy with the results.  Dr. Dissayawadee Katudat, DDS, M.SC. recommended that I see a Periodontist in the USA for a follow up and a teeth cleaning in 3 or 4 months.  I will find out then what the Periodontist here thinks of the surgery.

  6. Thanks for the PM!  I called Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and found out that Dr. Kanigan Boonperm only works on Saturdays now and she doesn't do gum surgery.  Per the advice of the office assistant, I booked an appointment with another lady Periodontist at BHP named Dr. Dissayawad for this coming Monday.

Yes, I have an appointment with her for April 27th a Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.  She only works Saturday and Sunday at BHP

I dialed +66  from the USA and the guy who answered said I got the wrong number. The other number didn't go through at all when I dialed +66

    not so easy to find

Dr. Kanigan Boonperm at Pattaya Bangkok Hospital is highly recommended but as you mentioned she is only available Saturdays & Sundays

I know that I am replying to an 8 and 1/2 year post, but I need to see a periodontist about potential gum surgery.  Does anyone know if Dr. Kanigan Boonperm is still working or know of another good periodontist, preferably in Pattaya?

I will be in Pattaya for 3 weeks starting this Sunday April 28th, 2019.  I saw a periodontist in California and he quoted $3300 per side for gum grafts ( for 3 teeth per side ).  My insurance only will pay about $800 more this year before it is maxed out.

  10. Thailand includes the end date in their 30 day visa on arrival giving the tourist 29 days in the country.

I want to get a Tourist Visa ( Non-immigrant Visa 9a ) to go to the Philippines. The San Francisco Philippines Consulate's website says that the length of this visa is 60 days. Does this include the end date in the calculation or not? I need to buy the ticket before I apply for the Visa. I have searched this forum as well as the web and I haven't found the answer yet.

    Thanks,

  11. I have a Fitbit One and I find it very useful, I use the Fitbit Dashboard to track my weight and I use My Fitness Pal to track my food intake and my exercise. MFP has a better selection of foods and exercises and it syncs with the Fitbit website to transfer the data. My Fitness Pal makes an estimate of the number of calories an exercise burns and lets you correct the estimate if you wish.

Both Fitbit and MFP have android apps that work on my phone. The Fitbit needs my laptop with the Fitbit Bluetooth dongle to sync the step count to the website because android doesn't support Bluetooth 4.0 yet. It you have a current Iphone, the Fitbit app on it can sync directly with the Fitbit.

  12. I may need a colonoscopy soon and I was wondering if I should get it done at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for 16,700 to 46,700 baht, or if I should go to Sattahip Queen Sirikit Hospital and pay 5000 baht or a little more. I don't have any medical or travel insurance. I am willing to pay the extra money if it is significantly safer or if there is a health advantage. I am 43 years old and this is my first experience with this. Please post if you have experience with having a colonoscopy at either hospital or if you feel you have other useful information to contribute.

I have had some mild abdominal pain for four weeks now. I saw general doctor two weeks ago who reported that my large intestine was inflamed and prescribed antibiotics that didn't help. On Monday, I saw a GI tract specialist at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, and he prescribed two antibiotics. He reported that I may have acute diverticulosis. If I am not better by tomorrow. three days after I started taking the medicine, I may need a colonoscopy. It looks like it will cost 16700 Baht if I don't have any polyps.

Here is the breakdown of the costs:

    12500 Colonoscopy package

1200 Drink to take before colonoscopy

3000 biopsy to check for cancer

    8000 to10000 cost to remove a polyp

If I have three polyps, the cost may rise to 46700 Baht.

    Thanks

  13. Thanks for your help. I have decided to get a two entry tourist visa. If they don't change the date on the stamp shortly after midnight, I will have the option of doing a border run or paying for 30 and 7 day extensions. If anyone on this message board has arrived just after midnight in Thailand, I would like to know if immigration updated the stamp before marking your passport.

  14. I would like to have the maximum stay on a tourist visa without doing a border run. I know that the first and last day count, so I really get 59 days on a tourist visa. Also, I can extend it by 30 days in Thailand to get 89 days. I am looking at booking a ticket that will arrive Nov. 14th at 11:55 pm ( 23:55 ). Can I assume that by the time I get to immigration, it will be Nov. 15th and I can stay until Feb. 12th?

  15. The Golf Club Bar on LK Metro has a BBQ a couple nights a week and the steaks are very good. It costs about 550 baht for a steak. The good steaks in Thailand are imported from Australia because most of the local beef is very tough.

  16. I had a body fat analysis done with calipers at the gym 3 weeks ago when I weighed 230 pounds. I was 29.3 percent fat, so I have a lot to lose. My weight loss has been pretty consistent at 3 or 3.5 pounds per week. This may be the fast initial weight loss that you are talking about.

I am 5 feet 11 inches tall, so I am thinking I will try to get to 210 and then slow the weight loss to 2 pounds a week. Thanks for your replies.
