  1. Good luck on getting up-to-date paper copies of some documents once in Thailand.
  2. Is there a list of known bad and good entry points somewhere? Is Suvarnabhumi a known bad entry point?
  3. Thanks for sharing your experience too! I did the motorbike license from scratch back in 2008. The tests are pretty straightforward, but still a bit of a pain / waste of time.
  4. OK, thank you. Wondering what all the fuss is about then, why agents offer it as a service and why there are threads specifically on this matter.
  5. I see, thank you. Could be what is meant, indeed.
  6. Are you saying that with a DTV and a COR, one is able to open a bank account at most banks/branches?
  7. I'm curious what "If you own a Thai driving license and have previously shown a driving license from your country to exchange. You will not be able to use it again." could mean. Anyone has a clue? Does it mean that, if I got a Thai driving license on the basis of a license from another country (+IDP?), I cannot renew my Thai driving license without showing again the license from the other country? Furthermore, I thought they don't really exchange the license from another country but issue a Thai license and let you keep the other license. Am I wrong?
  8. Can you please tell us at which branch it was?
  9. As if it were about health...
  10. That's because you've never needed a visa for a EU country then. Most, if not all EU countries enforce this rule.
  11. There was a picture of an announcement by the consulate in Phnom Penh in a previous post of @Tim K (see below). From October 8, they will start processing visas through the e-visa platform. I know for a fact that the same is true for Ankara, starting on the very same day. It looks like all (or almost all) consulates will now be connected to the e-visa system. I wonder how this will affect people who want to apply for a visa at one of the consulates that were previously known to be somewhat lenient when it comes to the residency requirement (being a citizen or a resident of the country(ies) in which the consulate operates).
  12. I've showed you in a previous post an AC unit running on 100V.
  13. Not sure what you are talking about, but the supply voltage in Thailand is ~220V. If you want to plug a device that accepts 100V, you'll have to use a step-down transformer.
  14. There is biometric data in passports. Fingerprint + facial features.
  15. Not even necessary. The QR code has to match the name of the passport holder, period.
  16. Ikke seems to believe that same sex marriage is likely to bring a lot of benefits to an economy. I don't understand why and how myself, but that's what his/her post was about.
  17. The immediate effect of a very expensive THB is to bring less THB into Thailand actually. For the same amount of USD, you get less THB now than you would have 6 months ago. If the THB is too expensive, people will just stop buying stuff in Thailand or they will buy less stuff in Thailand, which will then weaken the THB.
  18. If you let people use it without asking for a QR code, there could be people using it with a non-imm visa for example, although it's specifically intended for VE entries, I guess. Travelers applying for a QR code will certainly have to acknowledge that this procedure is meant for VE entries only.
  19. This is not how QR codes work. Each QR code is unique and contains information about the person it was issued to.
  20. The Thai Elite Privilege scheme is a private business AFAIK. So it's not an official statement from the Thai government.
  21. I think you're wrong. Read it carefully. The headline is "Taxation regulations in 2024", but it should read "Taxation regulations for 2024", and then it makes perfectly sense. It pertains to 2024 only that income not earned in the same year is not assessable. In 2025, 2026, etc. this statement will not be true any longer and it will have to read "income earned before 2024". I suspect the strange wording is made on purpose for readers to think that their income made in another calendar year is not assessable. The statement about DTAs is also very vague and misleading. All DTAs are different and none applies to all types of income.
  22. No, nothing new. It pertains to 2024 only and is the case for any type of visa or permission to stay. Any income earned before January 1st, 2024 is not assessable income. However, in 2025, 2026, etc. it will not be "not in the same calendar year" but "before January 1st, 2024".
  23. Useful info, thank you!
