  1. Anyway.... back on topic.........

The children from OG are now attending Blue Water until the end of term on a no fee basis. Some of the mothers are also attending daily to supervise the influx of extra kids, by reading with them etc. A good friend of mine has a son at BW and she is one of the mums assisting. This is probably as factual as we can get at this point.

I know one teacher personally from OG who has a secured a postion at Bluewater in the last few days.... an English man with the appropriate teaching qualifications and experience in UK schools, and impressive CV. Another staff member from OG had an interview at BW yesterday, but I don't know the outcome of this yet.

Interesting! That is a fact is it? So if you could just confirm, the Open Gates children who have moved to Bluewater are having the last two and a half weeks of term free?

What is this based on in terms of registering and paying enrolment for the coming school year?

    Just be interested to know..

STILL waiting............ Any of the new Bluewater/Ex Open Gates parents wish to comment???????????????

    :o

  2. Have Car, will Travel.. :o

Where's the best place on Samui to get them in the mornings ??

    Opinions please..

Try "Bake n Take" a french run bakery in Lamai. If coming from Chaweng it is just after the sharp left hand turn near the Temple. 20 metres on the right.

What about the home bake baguettes at Makro?? Not bakery fresh as such but, easily done and in the comfort of your own home! They worked alright for me.

  4. Unlike other surveillance platforms, the proposed airship will stay aloft for 10 years and provide a constant watch over an area, air force officials said.

"It is absolutely revolutionary," said Werner Dahm, chief scientist for the air force. "It is a cross between a satellite and a Global Hawk [spy plane]."

The airship will fly at 65,000 feet, or 12 miles, beyond the range of any handheld missile, and safe from most fighter planes. At that height, it would be nearly impossible to see.

Who has a UAV (assuming that is what they are buying) that can fly to 65,000 feet?? As far as I know there is still a race on to be the first to provide one that does this. Any idea who the manufacturer is supposed to be?

    Link to the article;

Thanks for the link Gary, I've already read this elsewhere and it is basically a project which is aiming to be completed by 2014, it hasn't got a working product yet they are working on a prototype. As far as I know Hi-Sentinel reached this height in 2005 but the problem is no one can do it autonomously at the moment and stay on station.

  6. another spot is the italian in ban rak forgot his name..
L´Antica Locanda, but I think the best italian pizza on Samui can´t eat on Via Vai,Chaweng center opposite to Dolce Vita..

wasn't it "Bahia" or something like that?

IMHO the "Via Vai" wood fired oven pizza is as good as the one produced @ in wood fired oven @ "Pinocchio's" - Chaweng

And the small place called "la Trattoria" left part of the "Green Mango Horse shoe", has (imho) outstanding, low priced Italian food, great service and friendly owners too!

i found the pregoto have a very good ones. it is expensive..

    Antica locanda?

I like café cuccina in mae nam. He has really good pizzas. Prego in chaweng is also good.

Yes PREGO is pretty good, but OUTSTANDING Expensive too!

Samuian do you mean Alla Baiai (excuse spelling) in Fishermans Village opposite the Lord Nelson? Have had good and also ordinary pizza there.

Agree with earlier poster that Juzza Pizza in FV is good (but not cheap).

    mmmmmmmmmmm.....pizzzzzzzzaaaaaaaa!!! :o

    hi,

modding your wii will not be a trouble, your chipset is D2B with cut legs according to the serial you did post.

i'm working here as an it guy and i was modding consoles in my country(belgium) i'm still refered on a modchip installer website (http://annonces.gx-mod.com/modules/poseurs/affich_poseurs.php?pays=4&cons=ps2&loc=04).

i got a modchip supplier in china, the newest product is the modchip called "D2ALL", i don't have modchips for wii in stock, however i can order them.

the price i did give you 2000 bath for the work is of course including the modchip , if you're interested we can maybe meet prior to this if you have any questions.

    here's my mail : //edit - e-mail address removed as per forum rules//

    kind regards,

    raf

Koheesti - You could try this guy, he sorted out my kids Wii and I would imagine would be able to help with the PS2.

  8. could you provide the serial number of your unit so i can determine wich chipset is the drive using.

i'm a modchip installer in europe, this work can be done for 2000 bath at my office but i need to know the reference chipset as modchips do vary aswell as the buying price of those.

btw i'm looking for street fighters alpha and up players on emulators, would you be interested ?

Hi the serial number is LAH102387177 (the last 7 is in a box?). Bought it in Aust about Feb/Mar time this year?

I don't actually play it much it's my kids. They don't use it online just for standalone stuff among themselves at home.

    Thanks.

  9. i got mine done a year or so ago so i could play the copy games by the bloke who sells games near subway dont know if he's there or not nowadays though as my wii not long after having it done. Cost me 3,000bht if i remember. Just ask at places that sell the copy games they will know..

Thanks for that I am guessing you are talking about the Subway in Chaweng? I will have a look this weekend. I have tried some of the copy guys in Tesco Lotus and around Bophut but no luck. Thanks for the info.

  10. Hi all,

I bet you are asked this everyday, but any help would be appreciated. I am going to Thailand for 6wks (42 days). I am english (UK passport), so my understanding is that i can go for 30 days with no visa, per say. I know you can go to the borders and extend this for a further 30 days, which obviously would cover me.

My question is, am i going to have any problems coming into Bangkok, with a return flight 42 days after my entry, given that my "visa" will only be for 30 days (until i border run it)?

Any help /advice would be gratefully recieved!!. Oh, i am flying in from New Zealand, if that makes a difference?( i doubt it), and i am 31.

    Cheers

    Hi,

I live in Australia and have just been in Thailand with my wife and two kids for 6 weeks, I entered on a tourist visa and was given 30 days stamp as you should be able to on a UK passport,

If you enter on a Tourist Visa you will get 60 Days stamp , not 30.

It appears you did not have a Visa but entered on a Visa Exempt Entry.

Quite probably, sorry my incorrect use of the term visa as well I would imagine.

The bottom line though still remains the same.

    Hi,

I live in Australia and have just been in Thailand with my wife and two kids for 6 weeks, I entered on a tourist visa and was given 30 days stamp as you should be able to on a UK passport, while in Thailand I extended for a further 7 days (maximum they would give even though I showed them a return flight 13 days later) and when I left I paid the fine of 500 baht a day (per person) for my overstay. You say you have a return flight. I didn't have any issues with the airline when I boarded in Melbourne. I would agree with the other posters that the sensible and cheaper thing to do would be get a 60 or 90 day visa at the Thai embassy where you are, I would have done that had I known.
