I still haven't seen anything official yet & previous experience of this board is that a lot of bullsh-t rumours are posted on a regular basis.

If it is official then show me the proof of it

I guess the only way to get the real lowdown is to actually go to the consulate in Penang and try and obtain a visa.

I'm heading to Cambodia in 2 weeks time with the intention of getting a Thai tourist visa (from Thai embassy in PPenh) - I'll let you know what happens , unless you go before me of course.

I've heard they can be tricky to get so I'll have an onward ticket out of Thailand handy just in case.(ie: for 30 day VExemption)

David96 - I've tried that link but it doesn't really give out infomation - just tells about the services of an agency. (I never use agencies)

chutai - out of interest , how many Burmese people have you actually met?

Any country that you visit could be seen as 'tacitly supporting the government' there. (including the recent Thai military government)

I'm planning a trip to Myanmar and am trying to get some info on obtaining a tourist visa.

I cannot find any official government website and am not sure whether you can get visa on arrival there at Yangon airport or in advance at the embassy in Bangkok.

Anyone have any recent info on this (what documents etc.. do you need to provide)- I have heard if you go to the embassy here in BK it can take many hours.

I've just been down to where the Cambodian Embassy should be (185 Rajdamri Rd) and it seems to be closed down and the phone no. not working. Someone on the street there said it had moved to Pharam 9 area - anyone know the new address as the website is still showing the old one?

or was I mistaken and it is still in fact open at the old address???

The KR weren't too keen on the Thais either! (killed about 200 of them in a border raid on a Thai village in the 70's).

something to do with the Thais siding with the 'Imperialists'.

I'll just turn up at the embassy and see, as I'm going anyway.

Vietnamese were certainly public enemy number 1 and many KR cadres who had fought alongside the Vietnamese against the French and Americans were often rounded up for being 'spys' (and then executed).

I currently have 9 used tourist visas in my passport (not back to back) and am going to Singapore next week - what do you think the chances of getting another one there will be as I've heard they don't hand them out so readily (it will be my 4th consecutive TV this time round). It's possible that I'll just do the 30 day exemption instead then go to Phnom Penh in March. (which I've also heard is not the best place to get a tv).

- also , any idea of the turnaround time for TV in Singapore as Chinese New Year means there is a public holiday there next thursday and friday (ie:7/8 feb 08)?
