  1. I am a regular visitor to thailand and i always bring in 1 sleeve of uk cigs... The last two times I arrived at Don Muang I was searched OUTSIDE the arrival terminal. ( whilst having a smoke!!!)

I complied with their instructions, had nothing with me I should not have, was polite to them and they sent me on my way.

10 sleeves per person for a 2 week holiday= approx 150 cigs per day....more if they did not all smoke !!!! I dont think so.

  2. The Pavilion Resort Management would likely take the matter up with the local government authority. They are affected by it too.

Well, only if foreigners start to complain about it. You know how thais are with their Mai Pen Rai crap. They will never report it... They dislike the smell too but leave it at that... Very few Thais actually complain about things others do.

I agree with most of what you say but I would take issue about the small dog.

Why wouldnt someone attempt to protect an animal from mistreatment !!! and if the lady could not speak thai, then sign language " putting the dog in her arms" is the only form of communication.

Did the adjective "overweight " add anything to this story....There are fat Thais too !!!!

  3. just got back to bkk from hua hin..........saw about 10 cars that had gone off the road and probably 6 rear end shunts...........in 240 kilometres......certainly more than i am used to seeing on this journey.........None of these appear to have been caused by throwing water but i suspect alcohol played a major part. The general standard of driving was much worse than usual.

  4. Here we go again.......people in this forum having a swipe at the Thais !!!!!

Very seldom are large projects finished on time anywhere in the world and its certainly common pratice in the uk to estimate completion by percentage.

86% may be a little precise but with the monies involved it may be relevant.

We must remember, that at least for the moment the terminal has not collapsed, as happened at both Heathrow and Paris !!!!! We should not be critical for critisism sake.

  5. I dont see the problem..........Of course they should have work permits and it sounds like a formality for registered charities............I would imagine it would be the same in the western world.

Knowing thailand I think more than one person (falang) would try to use the tsunami as an opportunity / excuse to stay in thailand illegally.

  6. Re new tourist visa

I would like to see what we in the west would produce in the Thai language !!!!

We produce many stupid and incorrect forms in English that have to be completed by native English speakers.........as in all things , critisism is easy !!!

Regarding statement of income.......not difficult if your affairs are in order P60 ...pension book.....etc. Surely unemployment benefits are certifiable.

I think the 30 day visa should be seen for what it is.... a TOURIST visa for holidaymakers and business travellers and not as an end in itself.

I have been told that to go to the states you may now be fingerprinted....On my only visit there I was interrogated as to the purpose of a three day visit.

I also wonder what would be the response would be if the new airport fell down...as happened in France...........and an office block at heathrow airport London because the tunnel below was not supported

Come on everyone...moan by all means but try to be a little more understanding !!!!

Lets not forget the reasons we are here !!!!!

Please do not correct any spellig or gramer erors.
