On arrival I will go to the Vietnam immigration to have a stamp & after i go to the departure and immigration again to have a stamp out
-
So I have to go on Dec. 16 to have a 30 day on arrival
I look every country with Air Asia. They have a sale now
So the cheapest is HCMC (saigon)
16 dec - Depart at 13pm arrive at 14.50
16dec.- to bkk depart 9.30pm arrive 11.00
So i have to wait 1 hour to be dec 17 as i have a multiple entries and don't want to use it as i will be at square 1
Total cost is very cheap at 2,000 return
Vietnam visa is 25.00 + 19.00 for booking online
So not bad after all
But even that i did not expect to travel anywhere in December
Ubonjoe is it ok that way ?

If you think about it logically (yes I know we're in Thailand and logic usually isn't a decent argument LOL ) seasoning should apply.
Otherwise someone turns up who has THB 1,000 a month income and 790,000 baht for a few days in a bank account, just long enough to get a bank letter and show on the day and claim they comply. Where do you draw the line?
So while it may not be explicitly stated I'd expect it and it seems logical to me for once for a rule here, even if not stated. If 800k lump sum should be seasoned, so should any combination.
I agree 100% with you
The problem when you get refused like that with no warning is that you have little time to react.
Sure i can book a ticket to any country to activate a new visa.
But I did not expect that 1 week before x-mas (dec. 16 is my last day) i have to go out of Thailand
Ticket are very expensive now
So that is the real problem
Yes can be annoying. Like I say I've been picked up a few times for different minor things. Seems to be more now these days than in the past.
All you can do is learn from it for next time:
- Colour photos wanted and not black and white? Take a USB now with a selection on
- Updating the bank account and not knowing if a particular account might qualify - have two.
- Learn which banks are at CW in case they want something doing or updating.
- Bring scanned copies of any docs you might possibly need as well as originals
Closest I came to being refused was when I left a previous employer and was on an extension based on business. I decided to convert to extension based on marriage. My visa extension ran until October. I finished work officially dated a Saturday at month-end. Work cancelled my work permit but left me to deal with the visa. Monday was a bank holiday. So I went in the first available day = Tuesday. They said I'd overstayed 3 days, because when my work permit finished my visa becomes invalid. So there I was with six months remaining on my extension in my passport and they said I should have cancelled it on the Friday while at work, even though my last day was Saturday
I now extend only based on marriage and never based on business in case my job finishes. Cancelling a work permit, updating your bank book, changing your extension basis all on the same day is a challenge when your bank isn't at CW.
Marriage break up? Look at the rules on supporting a child just in case
We live and learn
There will be no next time Fletchsmile
I am moving in Cebu city January 4.
But as i was refuse my extension I have to go to Saigon dec. 16 for 1 day and come back Bkk on a 30 days visa on arrival.
But i have learn a lot here in Thailand for the last 9 years.
I always respect the visa and never have any issue here, except the last one

Last year i had no problem. But i think the girlis very strict. I have the 3 months in my bank but only withdraw 5,000b 2 days ago that i put back the next day. .
If i go by air in Cambodia the 16 & return here after 3 days , does i can have 30 days like before
Thank you
I agree that penalising you for 2 days is harsh.
As long as you qualify for visa exempt entry you would be given 30 days on entry if you don't have a visa.
You don't need to have the money in your bank for two months to get the non 'O' visa. So you could apply now.
Then I expect removing 50 baht for 25 minutes would be even harsher.
You know your income from overseas, you need to keep the bank account sufficiently high that even fluctuations in exchange rate on the day do not catch you out.
I had the required combination of pension & money in the bank totalising more than 800,000 at the time of meeting with the officer ( by the way all officers in CW that day was women for L extention booths), just a constatation.
I have stayed there for 4 hours and spoke to nearly all of them. Even the supervisor . Not negociable. I stayed polite all the time.
They all refuse because I withdraw some money days before, so not consecutive 3 months

I really want to have another 30 days on arrival after my extention is void December 16.
So i am planning to buy a cheap ticket to Yangoon on the 16th. I already look in air asia and it is about 1,700b
But i will not stay there and come back in the morning of the 17th
I am not planning to buy a visa online as i will stay in the airport all the night if it's possible
I have a ticket out of Thailand to Philippines already for January 4
Will it be ok for stay only 1 day and return to Bkk
I think you will need to the visa to enter Myanmar or the airline will not allow you to board your flight.
Also immigration could question you about why you have no entry/departure stamps for Myanmar when you return.
One day out is not a problem. You could even do it on the same day without a problem.
Ok. thanks. Will apply visa online. Will book dec.16 early morning and out to Bkk nightime

Thanks for all advices.
But it is the nail in the coffin for me. I quit Thailand after 9 years.
I have spend the last 4 months in Cebu , Philippines and this will be my new home now. I have already rent a condo there.
In Philippines you can be on a tourist visa for 3 years, extention every 6 months & no problem. Retirement visa is about half money put in the bank then Thailand.
I have travel many time in all Southeast Asia country and i can tell that the Philippines people are the most friendly.. And everybody speak english there.
That was my mistake to withdraw some money but I was sure that the 3 months does not need to me seasonned for combination . The rules have changed
Should have mentioned this in your original post. Would have saved everyone a lot of time.
I am not a regular poster here ,but a very regular reader.
I really want to have a retirement extention for another year because not sure 100% if i will like to stay in Philippines.
I tell my experience to be sure that other people are aware of the CW very strict rules, and I agree with that. And no make the same mistake i do.

Using a combination of income and bank balance, no time requirement on how long funds should have been in bank.
The monthly income shown in the Embassy letter x 12 months added to the bank balance should total 800,000 Baht or more (remember, exchange rates fluctuate, Immigration uses the rate in effect on the date of application).
That's what I found...
Exactly what i told them.
I will very happy if i see a text in the website mentionning that
You could appeal but I doubt it will be successful. They have been moving towards seasoned bank deposits for the last couple of years.

22. Question : What is the required age of the alien wisthing to stay in Thailand with the reason of Retirement?Answer : For reasons to stay of Retirement, the alien must be 50 year of age or older and must have been granted a Non-Immigrant visa, firstly. ( Except the first application for this reason, that such amount should be deposited and held for 60 days)

I am a french Canadian from Montreal living in Bangkok for the last 9 years. Today, Monday Nov. 30 I went to CW to renew my extention who will end December 16 , 2015. I have a combination of pension & money in the bank. I have every papers in order as it is my 4 extention in Bkk. Everything was in order but... they refuse my extention . Why ? they said that i have to be money 3 months in the bank. I said they never ask that before. This is the regulation, the girl said. I said it's not necessary as i have a combination and not 800,000 . Even that i have the 3 months deposit already. But i withdraw 5,000 b 5 days ago. But i replace immediately the next day. They said it have to be consecutive without any withdraw for 3 months. I said you're wrong and I want to speak on your supervisor. Needless to say the supervisor tell me the same thing. I was a little frustrated but was polite all the time.
My questions is: has the rule change? do you have any text in the immigration website that the seasoning no need to stay 3 months in the bank? If yes i will go back and show them the regulation
What will I do next ? I have an apartment here and i buy all my possessions. Does i have only 16 days to sell everything.
What is my option ?
Thanks

I was looking infos on schools for having ed-visa .
On May 23rd I went to Time Square Walen School and ask informations regarding the processus to obtain one. The office girl give good advise and I had made the choice right away to go to this school. I tell her that I have to go out of Thailand June 8 as my visa expire on this date.. I ask her if the whole process of papers will be ok for this date. She tell me that it may take 2 to 4 weeks to have the papers back to the school. I ask her if she assure me to have the papers on time. She cannot assure me. But she tell me that if I want to speed up the process I have to pay 5,000 bahts more right away and she promise me that the papers will arrive in 10 days. Also I have to give in advance the 25,000 bahts for the course.
I suddenly back off and tell her I want to think about it.
I went to another school . Same good advise for the girl for the infos. I explain my situation & tell her that I have to go out of Thailand June 8. No problems she tell me. The papers will arrive within 10 days. Are you sure I ask. Yes absolutely sure.
So I paid a deposit of 15,000 b ,the rest payable when she received the papers.
8 days later May 31 she call me and said she have received the papers. I was very happy. I went therre paid the rest of the course, went to Laos and come back with my ed-visa
The question is WHY Walen school charge 5,000 b for having a visa in 10 days if other school can have the same visa in 8 days FREE of charge
Anyone?
which school did u go to? the second one which you went and enrolled?
I went to Pro- Language in the 10th floor on the same building

IMMIGRATION SUAN PHLU IS STILL OPEN FOR RE-ENTRY PERMIT BUT ONLY EVERY SATURDAY 8:30 TO 12:00 FOR US .
I went there yesterday . The office was almost empty . Only 4 Asian peoples waiting. I present my passport and related papers. The girl at the desk tell me to go to Chang Wattana. I said that I was advise to go here for re-entry permit. She tell me it is only for Laos, Cambosia & Myanmar DURING the week . For others foreigners it is only EVERY SATURDAY FROM 8:30 TO 12:00. I ask that being here now can she process my permit. No way ! Cannot do that. Come saturday
So I went there for nothing
-
Oh i did not know that we can have a re-entry in Suan phlu.I will surely go there
And thuesday in laos I will try to have a a multi-entry and if I get one I'll let you know
Thank you very much for your help
Andy

So I will go to Laos, get my ed visa, and go to chang wattana next week to have an early re-entry permit with my ticket as a proof .
Can I go directly to the airport office for a permit even if I don't fly that day. It's because I find it more easy to go to the airport than to chang wattana
-
I will come back July 24. But i don't want to re-apply in Canada . You said that I can have a re-entry permit if I return before 90 days

Thanks very much to all members on ThaiVisa who gives me good advices & great informations on this subject
Hope this topic will help others.
But never thinking that this subject will have a great response like that
Ok i know now that it is "extension" & not "extention"
