  1. Why fool around with a Fiancee visa if you love the woman just marry her and apply for immigration visa

I can't understand what it is about this wanting your cake and eat it too attitude..you are travelling to Thailand to see her 2-3 times a year so if you don't have enough feelings to marry her quit complaining about US Immigration

  2. Looks like there are a few dif.opinions on this and I'm sure you are all correct, in Laos just like in Thailand the interpretation of the laws are made by the person behind the desk...glad the driver of our minibus back in December made the decission that we were not going over the bridge, wouldn't have looked too good for this farang (who was in charge of the trip) to have the 9 members of the wifes family turned away for whatever reason....side note: NBigalke interesting name, your hubby pick it?

  3. We plan on building a house in the next year or two told my wife we should have a fireplace...took a while for her to understand what I meant..anyway she says nobody in Issan knows how to build one. What do you guys say will I end up burning the house down or will I have to import a fireplace kit

  4. mssabai, it sounds like you are the one who needs to get out and see a little of the world..for 90% of these kids Samui is just a stop on the road ..some have backed through a host of countries to get here on their way to India, myanmar, Vietnam or?? most are gone for a year or more with whatever they carry on their backs, sure there are a few wannbes like the guys in their Volkswaggon bus in Pamplona 36 years ago who were talking about how it was great roughing it in Europe while I was sleeping under the bus to get out of the rain.

  5. Man you sound like a bunch of old farts "in my dayyyy" and in looking at your ages I doubt if many of you really made those trips or was it just in your heads while watching M-TV, it can still be tough travelling using local transportation in the back country not knowing the language and ending up goodness knows where, eating strange food just because it's all you can afford...give the kids a break

  6. My first words ever on any forum but this one really got me..62 years old next week..backpacker for 46 of those years, still strapping on the pack whenever I can. Gap Yuppies or whatever any kid who goes off to see the world on the cheap is a brave soul in my mind, my 18 year old neice and her friend took off from Scotland a couple of months ago on the few pounds they were able to save up working nights in cafes.they should be in Samui in a few weeks after stopping off to see the old traveler in US then traveling to Fiji, Aus & NZ , Bali and Malayasia..going to Samui cause I recommended they go see my wife...met her after a group of young backpackers in Peru in 2003 told me I was missing the best experience ever if I didn't go to Thailand and especially Samui, best advice I ever received...enjoy the island
