  1. What do you mean by 'the lady who took a photo'? I got my third retirement extension (which I assume is what you're talking about, not a visa) last December, and nobody has ever taken a photo.

The photo is taken from the lady's computer webcam; probably you haven't realized.

  2. Yesterday I took my number at 12.45 o'clock for a retirement visa. They started working at 1 pm and 5 minutes later I was back in my car.

About 1,5 minutes with the first officer, then 1 minute with the lady who took a photo and another 2 minutes with the supervisor. No questions asked, no proof of residence asked.

In Bangkok you will receive the passeport immediatly back, but in Pattaya you have to collect one day later. But no need to stand in line, because you get a "ready to collect card" from the supervisor in charge. Really good experience, like always at Pattaya immigration. WCA

I was led to believe that immigration instituted the 3 month window to put the kabosh on falangs who were topping their accounts up with borrowed money a few days before getting their visa and repaying their borrowed money the next day (I knew of a few folks who were doing that).

Yes, exactly. Some of the immigration lawyers borrow the money to their clients; they are quite happy about this ruling, because they earn more interests.

  4. You may get away with that for a while with the police check's but if you have a accident then you are not covered by the Thai insurance & the police will look more closely at your License.

Its not that difficult to get a Thai driving License so Why take the chance it may cost you dearly.

I am driving in Thailand since 20 1/2 years with a IDL. I had to 2 bad accidents during this time. But never had a problem with the police or my insurance company.

  5. There is a new Airport bus service from Jomtien. The brandnew office is just opposite the PANPAN Italien restaurant at Thappraya road. There also leave the buses. First bus at 8 am. Afterwards every 2 hours. Buses seem to be very new. Price 126 Baht.

  6. Visiting last week Pattaya Immigration for the 90 days reporting, I have to say that the service has improved since the last 3 months. . After only 10 minutes I was done. It seems also that more officers (ladies) are working now.

  7. My good friend went Monday for the renewal of his" marriage visa " at Jomtien and he was told to get 400.000 Thb + 40.000 Thb monthly,("Law changed in January Sir") He does not have the 400.000 Thb, but the officer was "so kind" to propose him to borrow him the 400.000 Thb for a consideration of 28.000 Thb.

Which he accepted or No Visa

28,000 Baht? Why he simply walked out of and came back a day later with a lawyer? Doesn't cost him 28,000 Baht. But I even doubt that in this case a lawyer would be necessary.

  8. I don't think it's any kind of achievement or something special to get a retirement visa; I only like to share my (very good) experience from this week.

I arrived at Suan Plu at 12.30 (during lunch break). My number was called at 13.40. I left Suan Plu at 13.57 with my visa.

    Great service, lovely staff.

I changed from a Marriage to a Retirement extension. My wife didn't have to accept this change with her signature, but I had to sign a form.

    I presented the following documents:

TM 7 with picture (same picture I use for the last few years!)

    Copy of passeport

Letter from embasssy, confirming income, (Cost Baht 1400)

Letter from the bank, (Cost Baht 200)

(Together total income: Around 1 Mio)

Copy of the entire saving book

If money is not an issue, than Retirement extension is obviously the way to go.
