I think democracy is a concept that is alien to most of asia. Democracy is not a panacea that will solve all issues. I just do not see the Thais as understanding what Democracy really is? It does not mean that you throw out the government that you elected just because some minority faction want more power. It is extremely sad.

Well, I bought a condo in Bangkok and it is a very nice place since it has nice teak wood flooring and extremely high ceiling and all the amenities. I spent 4.5 million over 5 years ago and now maybe it is worth 6 million since it is in Asoke. I think it is ok for living, however even with the Thai currency appreciation it is a crappy investment since if I bought anything in place of high growth like Shanghai it would have appreciated 300% and if I bought in Ho Chi Min city in Vietnam it would have appreciated 1,000%. The Thais do have better marketing skills, they could package ice cubes and sell it to Eskimos.

Thai Condo real estate is not a good investment since other regions such as Vietnam and China has appreciated 300-600%.

My apologies for a rather opinionated reply. I was working on getting a Non Immigrant visa from the Los Angeles consulate and basically they told me they Never give it out, despite what it says on their website and what my friends told me. However, since it is Thailand it all has to do with MONEY. If you really want to get a non Immigrant ED visa, any Thai government approved THAI language school will be able to do the paperwork to get it. They will ask for $3k - $5k for their efforts. Of course even with that you might want to apply through the Washington DC embassy (given what Mac has said:-). My suggestion would be to get a work permit as other posters has recommended since I know of many dive schools that do employ foreigners to work and it’s a routine thing for them to do. My suggestion would be to let the dive school recommend the best strategy since they are the professionals. I think part of getting PADI instructor certified does involve quite a bit of working so getting a work permit is very reasonable.

Thank you for the fast reply. I have also found a place on Sukhumvit 33 called Air Con Center(great name huh? ) 026621388 that I might give them a call too. Just curious what the cost of the service is, or the cost of contract with your company?

Just curious if anyone know of a qualified Mitsubishi Mr. Slim air conditioning service company in Bangkok? Preferably near Sukhumvit?
