  1. Sure. 1500 + meds + other stuff 20k-30k Lab/investigations + specialists' fees etc. for a couple of hours OPD at Bangkok hospital or any private hospital for that matter, is big money in Thailand. How long have you been in Thailand? And, I hope you're not playing the "my p_nis is bigger than yours" game, or are you :o ???

  2. Free seats for travel between June 22 to October 24, 2009.

Please read the OP carefully :o

    I tried a BKK-Udon return comes out at 506B 1 15kg luggage included

I tried to book FREE seats for August 2009 BKK-SNG-BKK but no FREE seats mate just decietful advertising methods from the part of Air Asia.

My total was around 5000 Baht something. I can get it cheaper with Tieger Airways or even Jetstar. Blatant lies - from Air Asia that's all. Needless to say, they won't have me as a customer anytime soon :D

  3. Unless the nurses are really hot in their skimpy little outfits, I don't see why it matters. BP doesn't need a rocket scientist to take it; anyone will do.

    Agree.

Everytime we go to Bkk hospital there is a nurse assisting the doctor.

Don´t know what you are talking about to be honest. Sounds like a different hospital to me.

    NO!

At Bangkok Hospital on Petchburi rd on the second floor of the Watanasot bldg (OPD) at the GP's there is either no one or there is a customer service representetive and NOT a nurse. I hope you're not implying that I am a liar, or are you :o ?

Often I am taken out of the doctor's office to the counter by the doctor himself or as I said earlier a customer service representative. And no, where I come from (sorry not the US) a nurse takes my blood pressure not some customer service agent. And hel_l yes it matters when I pay a minimum of 1500 Baht or more per visit for the consultation + meds.

From your post it is obvious you have never heard of free healthcare and REAL quality service.

Anyway, I am will be with Bumrungrad starting next week. Hope there at least they will have qualified nurses assisting the doctors :D not some customer service agent.

When I pay big money, I expect high quality service and treatment in return.

  4. I've had GERD/heartburn for some time now, three years, and after seeing some articles and Googling decided to go for an upper endoscopy exam.

Down to Vibhavadi Hospital last week to an appointment, and to stop my daily aspirin, down again this morning early to do the deed. Dr Mongkon.

In at 0830 hrs and out by 1000 hrs, total time. Don't remember a thing, and zero after affects, no sore throat at all. Tab? baht 10,156, about $290 at current exchange rate, rather less expensive than in the U.S. I'd bet.

In any case, no significant problem indicated, so will just continue to take my Xanidine pill about daily at bedtime.

    Mac

imo you paid too much. But that is just my opinion. it just sounds a little bit on the pricy side.

  5. Hi

The good thing about this forum is there are many different professions giving their best advice to posters.

My friend has a three years old boy who twice now has had an infection on his penis. You know sometimes boys just don't clean after pee. And he has quite long foreskin that very difficult for a little boy to keep it clean. Some friends suggested that he wouldn't have any more problem if he's been circumcised.

Should my freind have him circumcised or leave it as is. She doesn't have any religious belief in doing so, just for the purpose of hygiene. After reading from many sources from circumcised men themselves she's not sure if this is a good idea.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes. Hes should have it done. Also his future "performance" in bed with the wify will be greatly enhanced...

    :o
  6. They work for some, for some others they aren't effective. They can cause severe nausea and some people will start throwing up immediately after taking them. They should be taken after food.

You can buy them at the pharmacy on the ground floor near the supermarket at Central Chitlom. 800 Baht for 30 pils (Tramal Retard 100mg tablets)

  7. Mate,

Travel abraod and get a second opinion.

I know it;s a little off topic but a friend developed a heart condition while in Thailand called Atrial Fibrilation. They gave hime all sort of medication nothing worked. Instead it got worse. After 6 months of struggle and zero progress he flew to Europe for a second opinion from a cardiologist there. He was told that an operation or what they call an ablation would stop the problem. He flew on to a famous centre in Bordeaux France. He was treated and never had a problem again. I am not trying to pull Thai doctors down but they do overworry about losing face, hence, they tend to tell their patients to continue with the medication that they promised would help, and they are very reluctant in admitting in what they're giving or doing is going nowhere and is leading to nothing. That's right, to a Thai FACE is everything.

  8. Been visiting Bangkok hospital on Soi Soonvijai for the past couple of years but I am gradually becoming more and more fed up wtih the service and competency of some of their departments.

My blood pressure is taken by a customer service agent :D (OPD dept). At the doctor's there is no one there to assist, in fact, the doctor himself once finished walks out with the patient to the counter and gets the nurse to do the remainder of the paperwork. I mean, this is quite strange. In the past, there would be a nurse present but of late fewer and fewer nurses and also it seems whenever I get there the doctor will try and convince me for follow up examinations to which I usuallly agree to but reluctantly since I have a known chronic illness to which there is no known cure. A loss of lots of Bahts... for nothing. Are they in some financial trouble of some sort - anyone know? Anyone else noticed the decline in the services at Bangkok Hospital?

Needless to say I am now moving to Burmrungrad. Hope a REAL nurse will take my blood pressure not some customer service agent :o Bangkok Hospital ain't cheap so when I pay that kind of money for whatever I expect service and treatment of a very high standard :D .

  9. My fortuner has been stolen in december 2007. It had 10 months old with 20K kilometers.

My insurance company ( in bangkok) told me i will get 880000 baths .

After tons of phone calls and promess of payment nothing happened so that i decided to go from phuket to the insurrance .

I had to stay 4 hours, see 5 managers and finaly get a check with 2 signatures. I thought i was safe but the check bounced back for defaut of provision!!!!!

Any idea of what i can do now because i dont know if in thailand a check is just a piece of paper or if it is like in my country where you cannot make one more check for 5 years till you dont pay it.

How come an insurrance check can bounce back?

Is there a representative of insurrances company i can complain with?

do i have to go to the police?

Any suggestion will be appreciated because if i go again to the insurrance office i am afraid it is going to finish badly.

What is umbeliavable is that this company is big ( big building with hundreds of people working there) but i felt 880K was a very big summ for them amazing.

I can see on this forum that some of you are insured with this company but i cannot name it so far.

Next time i will avoid for sur thai company because this one is particulary unprofessional ( in almost 1 year i have never receive a paper from then since my car has been stolen) they dont answer to my lawyer as well.

Why not name the company so that others don't have to go through what you're going through :D:D ?? Or is there more to the story we should know about :o:D ??????

  10. Nohave - that's very useful info, many thanks - but what about punctuality? Air Asia used to get a thumbs down for that but their website is claiming 96% on time performance for September...

    CC

In my only 1 time experience I flew Air Asia, very puctual.

  11. I have always resisted flying on budget airlines - too cramped, too basic, too old planes and too much chance of a delay ...

... but Singapore Airlines now want nearly 700 Sing dollars for an economy return - that's a lot for 2 and a half hours and given that I go for a couple of weekends a month, it adds up ...

I have flown Swiss quite often and it is a good service, Star Alliance member, at a price not much more than the budget carriers (for SIN-BKK-SIN leg)

But Swiss only have one flight a day, late at night, and sometimes I would prefer to go up to BKK v. early on the saturday morning instead - so my question is which budget carrier would people recommend? Only a couple of hours flying time so comfort & meals ain't a huge issue but on time performance definitely is!

    Thanks :o

Same here, until the day I decided to give them a try. First with Jetstar. Good experience, great coffee and great leather seats with lots of leg room. Then I tried Tiger Airways. Good experience too. Coffee a little less tasty than Jetstar's but who cares. Seats not bad either. Leg room alright. No complaints. Next I tried out Air Aisia. Unlike jetstar and Tiger there is no system where seats are allocated during check in but that wasn't a problem either. I made sure that I stood right next to the boarding gate with my running shoes on and once the doors open I ran. Seats not so great. Aircraft very old. But I chose an exit row seat so lots of legroom. Other seats seemed to have a lot less legroom. So when flying with Ari Asia make sure your running shoes are on and once the gate opens: run.

Jetstar number 1 imo but more expensive

Tiger number 2 imo and less expensive than Jetstar

Air Aia number 3 and less expensive in comparison to the other 2 if you book early. They advertsie new aircraft. But from my experience the aircraft they used for the BKK-Sing-BKK leg was at least 25 years old. A boing 737. I think it's all about aircraft maintenance and I think Air Asia does have a good record for safety in that department.

Extremely fast check in with the 3 mentioned airlines above. Especially with Air Asia- SUPER fast.

I flew Air Asia last August from Bangkok to Singapore return. Bought my ticket 7 months in advance online for only 3,140 Baht including all taxes.

  12. He should get off is ass. Walk to Robinson's. Or across from there I think Lotus (3 km from there I think on Rama 4) )and buy a shirt, tie and pants, and walk into a language school and teach part-time. There are over a dozen language school in the area all screaming for farang. And no you don't need to be an native speaker to land a teaching job in los.

  13. I enjoyed flying both with Etihad and Emirates. Qatar Airways? not sure. Sometimes they're alright sometimes they're not. Long long looooong queu waiting at chek in. I never get that with Etihad or Emirates. Reconfirming a booking or rather the return flight with Qatar which was back then the norm, was a nightmare as it took me over 6 hours of phoning their office in Tunis and they simply would not pick up the phone. A real nightmare. Eventually I went to theri office in Tunis and i was apalled at the terrible and rude service I received from them. Flights are usually ok with them it's just the service from some of their offices is really bad.

  14. Once bought a ticket with Etihad from Etihad airlines' Head Office. Had to cancel due to poor health. Had to wait 5 months before I got a refund. So, to the original poster: this is normal. Etihad Arilines Bangkok told me that they had to wait for the okay from accounting department based in Abu Dhabi...

  15. Hi

Anyone know where a friend of mine can have dry needling done (not acupunture) on his sore shoulder muscles? a private clinic perhaps here in Bangkok?

He went to Bangkok Hospital and had it done there. 2 minutes for 5 needles = 1250 Baht. So, obviously he's rightfully looking for some place a bit less expensive.

    Thanks

  16. We've been with godaddy.com for years. Reliable and decent customer service. I think they're the biggest in the world. Avoid those samller companies and especially 3ix.org AVOID AVOID AVOID. Multiple threads about this company in here on TV in the past about there appaling service...
