  1. Thanks. Mostly curiosity on my part. This happened to 2 students at the language school I study at. Both non white, non westerners. It would be really great if official guidelines were issued regarding "coming and going" on ED visas........

Yes and the bit that says ''I am serious about my study, but I'm off school for 2 months'' really needs to be made clearer

Why? Kids are off school here in Thailand for nearly 4 months in a year!

But kids at school in Thailand are not using their education as a loop hole to get a visa.

There off about 4 months in UK too.

But language school students must attend.

UK had a crackdown on people registering at a school on student visa.

    But not attending and working.

    Same same

  2. Trouble is. There's a few wackos. Who spoil it for the rest. Radical Muslims and radical EDL types. I've got loads of Muslim mates. From all parts of the world.

And they are just like you and me. Work hard. Buy a house. Bring up kids. Things have changed since I was in school. Nowadays seems all are accepted here. The saving grace of the UK is that your everyday educated fella on the street accepts different nationalities.

Yes, it's good to accept different nationalities (and belief systems, skin colors, etc). Growing up, I changed schools 9 times in 11 years, within 5 countries. I have Muslim friends here in Chiang Rai, as well as others with a slew of other allegiances.

The sustained openness of UK has been overdone. Now there are types who would actively try to cause trouble for Brits. Some are overt, others are 'sleepers' (waiting for the right time to shout 'Allah Akbar' and start the serious take-over). Brits think niceness and fairness will prevail. It won't. Some of the extremists are hard-core and are adept at melding in to the shadows - or, if cornered, can simply say "it's not me, mate. I'm on your side.". Tough times ahead for Britain and the rest of Europe.

If you read the daily mail /express. Then yes. They're taking over. We're all doomed Mr manering.

But those papers are owned and push the zionist Israeli view.

If you just read the daily mail. After a week you want to top yourself.

On the street. Most folks just get on.

I've said it myself. Why's that idiot wearing his pyjamas in the daytime? .

Why's his beard tickling his <deleted>?

And yet my mate a cabbie in london. Is exactly like that.

He just says. You look weird. With a clean shave. And wearing jeans and a TV shirt.

    We see churches has beautiful.

    They see mosque's the same.

The majority don't wanna cut our heads off and blow us up.

  4. The first kid I got this from embassy. But can't get a copy online from GRO.

    ...

However the second kid got this from GRO online.

Which is different but the same I think.

No, the first is a certificate of registration as a British citizen, making the child a British citizen. The second just records the birth of a British citizen.
    What's the difference?

    On this link

    https://www.gov.uk/register-a-birth/y/thailand/father/no/2008-02-12/same_country

If I was married says they will give you a local entry of birth.

    Like the second one.

If not married will give you a certificate of registration.

    Confused

  5. This may help. Or muddy the waters.

    Not found

Both have had 2 British passports so far.

Can't remember if I was married at time of birth of first kid. Think I was

    Divorce cert doesn't state date.

The second kind I do remember first passport and registration was around 17,000 baht

  6. In the past there have been interesting threads about shaving. One contained the recommendation to strop your blades. Since beginning to do it, I've been getting three times the number of shaves from my Gilette Fusion cartridges that I did before. If everyone stropped their blades, Gilette would lose some serious money.

    Edit

I found it on utube. Will give it a go.

Shaving is more expensive than an heroin addiction.

    Stroping unm

  7. Some of you whiners do realize there are people who work and run business?facepalm.gif

Yes i am waiting to get my hands on one, why? not because it does not make me coffee, but because i need it for business, emails, skype, translator, and many other features.

Why am i going to upgrade to 6? because its faster and has even more useful features i need.

So stop whining,if you do not need a smart phone or if you can not afford one, you really do not need to make silly comments

My 6,000b Android phone does all of that.

Oh and it's a similar shape and size to the iPhone 6 (4.7) so I must be really smart as I saved 16,000 baht!

    I'm keeping my note 3

    Dawn good phone.

People just want to be apple slaves.

Once you try Android. It's hard to go back to Apple

This is the problem. There's a lot of anti-Apple advocates running around saying that people are idiots to buy iPhones.

Looking at it realistically, they are both good phones... but unfortunately the Samsung doesn't have the same appeal. I could not get my wife to settle for a Samsung no matter what I told her. I actually tried.

My missus still got note 2.

But that will change soon. Already making noises.

There's people saying you can get a imobile phone for 5K.

    And it does the same.

That's like somchai in his Isuzu pick up pulling up next to a roller and saying mine does the same has yours and I saved 40 M.

They both get you from A to B.

    It's the ride that's important

  8. Getting the phone from another country:

    - You need to have US credit card, or a credit card from the country you're ordering in (SG, HK, etc)

    - Need to have a local delivery address for that country

    - Need to get it sent to Thailand from there

    - No local warranty as warranty on iPhone isn't world-wide

I am still getting it, at least I pre-ordered one from the USA, but that's mainly because I broke my iPhone 5. If I hadn't I'd probably wait until the Thai release.

Seems like the 6+ is the one that is supply constrained right now - good for me as I want the 6. The 6+ is bigger than a Samsung Note 3, it's way too big for a phone IMO.

It's not bigger. It's nearly the same. It's a fraction taller, but narrower and thinner - and lighter.
Nice to know the facts come eventually.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but I have the exact phone sizes cut out and stuck on cardboard so my wife could decide which model she wanted. The Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung S5 are very close approximations for anyone who wants to pick up a real phone to get an idea of the iPhone 6 sizes.

I wasn't. The guy previously said iPhone is bigger.

When I got my note 3 last year. I was thinking. It's massive. Humongous.

But now after using it it's just about right.

As I need reading glasses now the big screen helps.

    Here's a kinda comparison

    http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/09/10/iphone-6-plus-vs-galaxy-note-3-5-things-buyers-need-to-know/

Like the cut out cardboard sizes for wife.

    Made me chuckle. But sweet.

. Before the beheadings.. Nobody wants to get involved in UK.

Now the government has the backing of the country.

And has for Cameron harping on about the danger of isis coming to the UK in force.

It's all scripted. And so many can not see it.

We gave saddam the gas to kill kurds.

    Now we're arming them.

Assad may be a dictator. But the opposition does not bear thinking about.

  11. Its only a phone ,,,,and with bad reviews as well so why bother .

Bad reviews? How can that be when it has not been released yet. No one will be able to give them an honest review until after Sep 19.

All preliminary reviews I've read have been favourable.

The phones and software are dished out to selected reviewers way before release.

  13. Used Etihad once at Xmas. But had to fly to Dublin on aer lingus then to Abu Dhabi.

They was promoting their new route.

Saved a bit for that time of year.

Aer lingus., would you like a coffee sir that will be 2 euros or something would you like to buy a teddy bear would you like to buy this would you like to buy that.

    Luckily only an hour flight.

Like the idea of stopping in Amsterdam.

When I gave up Thai Airways. My plan was to use multiple airlines and stopover for a night or two. In places I've never been.

Ie use jet Airways and stop in bombay.

Or Egypt air and stop in Cairo.

But got addicted to etihad air miles.
