  1. I said to the crew that the storm we were experiancing must be very bad because the containers were falling into the sea. They explained that it was normal practise, if the weather was bad, just to throw the containers overboard to reduce the centre of gravity of the ship.

So it is very easy for these containers to be thrown overboard from conventional container ships.

    Chris

    BULL-SHIT !!!!!

"Just to throw the containers overboard"

    tssssssssssss

  2. So it didn't matter that your passport was "clean", but rather that the consulate had its records of your previous visa applications. Did you have two or three TV's from Penang recently?

Nope, it was the first time ever I went to the Thai embassy in Penang.

The only other places I ever applied for a Thai visa were in Saigon and Antwerp (Belg.).

Probably had to place this in the Penang Post to keep this Vientiane one clean .... sorry .... :o

  3. there was no tv denied. penang allows max 3 tv in the last you get a red stamp and you need a returnticket bocked hotel

Not in my case. I had a brand new (Belgian) passport (issued in Bangkok via the Belgian Embassy).

In my passport was only the necessary stamp you get at Bangkok immigration to transfer the information about how long you can stay in the country from the old into the new passport, and 1 visa extention of 30 days.

After that I went to Penang and I got a 60 day tourist visa with the red stamp "not to apply for Thai visa at Penang again".

On the other hand, the fact that I did not have a return flight, or any flight for that matter, wasn't a problem.

    Cheers.

  4. His final entry must have been made by that date (24 May). I read it as he will exit/return on the 23rd so should be fine.

Correct, that's how i want to do it.

Did not sample the Beer Lao too much this time as I was exhausted from a terrible 2 weeks in China, but did plenty of that during previous visits to Lao :o .

    Many thanks,

    cheers !

  5. Thanks for the welcome Funfun :o

Glad to confirm that I applied, and received, a double entry visa.

I applied on Monday, so it seems to work out fine.

Altough I received my passport back on Tuesday 26th, the date of issuance was Monday February 25th (can't recall whether it's like that in other embassies as well).

The lady from the guesthouse I stay now in Tha Bo was surprised I got a double entry on Monday, so there could be more in that story that they might refuse it .....

I entered Thailand on Febr. 26th, and got 60 days, i.e. permitted untill April 25th.

Am I correct that I can extend this with 30 days, so till May 24 or so ?

I will have to leave the country then on May 23 (as the visa states 'enter before May 24'), and return the same day, to get another 60 days, which I can extend again with 30 days ?

So I should be fine till approx. August 20 ?

As I plan to go home at the end of September, can I go for 2 visa runs with entry stamps after August 20 ?

If so, by receiving a double entry visa, you are safe for about 9 months after that as I see it; correct ?

Fyi, I arrived at the Thai embassy around 08.45 hrs and waited in line till about 11.00 hrs to hand over my papers (passport + 2 photo's + copy of the main page). Then I had to wait till about 11.45 hrs to pay in the other building.

Receiving the next they goes really fast, and as nobody was complaining, I assume everybody got what he/she asked for.

Many thanks again for the great advise on this website,

    Koen.

  6. i also read on here how you were more likley to get a x2 refused on a monday, so with it been a public holiday on monday i treated tuesday as a monday and i applied on a wednesday!

and additional info just on my trip is

    Chers chris :D

    Hi,

I "discovered" this website last week, looking for some info wether I could apply for another Thai visa without leaving the country for 3 months or not.

(I was here the last 5 months, first on a 2 month visa from my home country - Belgium - + 1 extension, and after that a 2 month tourist visa from Penang (including the "Do not apply for a visa in Penang again" stamp :o ).

I left Thailand on February 6th for a ferw days Laos and China. I arrived today in Vientiane, hoping to get the multiple entry visa.

I am just a bit worried about this Monday "thing".

It seems strange the embassy would have different rules on different days of the week.

    What's the advise ?

Just go to the embassy tomorrow Monday, or wait till Tuesday ?

Many, many thanks for your advice, and for this great website.

I'll let you know if all worked out.

    Cheers,

    Koen.
