  1. I own a condo just South of Pattaya Klang, off of Sukhumvit, The thought of having this situation for 3 years makes me want to move. The one-way at Soi Khao Noi and closure at Soi Siam Country Club makes things that much worse.
I think this will make it almost impossible to sell until the roads are open again.

Thai engineers take no thought of the effect their decisions have on others. Instead of closing the intersection for a short time while that part of the road is affected, they close the intersection well before there is a need due to construction at the intersection. I expect that, like other construction sites I have seen, there will be many days when no work at all is going on at that site.

    It is extremely frustrating!!!

I know... if I don't like it, I should just go home.

  2. Good. If only tourism on Koh Tao would stay down. Year after year after year.

Trip Advisor has been mentioned on a few of the relevant Koh Tao threads as of lately. There was, now closed thread "Should We Still Go", with negative reviews removed. I was not quick enough to have seen the negative reviews "Should We Still Go" but one TV poster has confirmed their existence in an earlier post. Some question Trip Advisor and even laugh it off as no surprise. I do...

I Just identified a new Trip Advisor thread "Is Koh Tao Open" I will also post this on the other active Koh Tao threads here on TV.

Many, TV members that have posted on the relevant Koh Tao murder threads have claimed the need to warn and educate the uninformed tourist of potential or realized safety concerns of/on the island. It is a need, same as any other destination. I could care less if the island economy is booming or in decline. However, I am curious to see if any one here takes two minutes to sign up, sign in, and post there opinions on the relevant Trip Advisor thread.

Should be interesting...Should also be interesting to see how quickly Trip Advisor closes the thread.

The above is my reply/post on the "Grand Travel". Just to be clear, I will not be taking the time to create a Trip Advisor account and post my two cents as I do not care how the island is impacted by good or bad press and find that any effort is a waste. I do not have a dog in the fight as I have no good or bad experiences associated with the island. Ethical and moral issues with how the situation, involved parties and their actions and how the case has been handled, yes.

i used to rate and use trip advisor but not so much anymore after they, for no justifiable reason barring they were negative, removed some posts about koh samet and the Bangkok sky train.

Trip Advisor is removing posts and closing topics that discuss the murders on Ko Tao..

  3. I live in a condo on a high floor about 1 kilometer from a Mosque on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya.  About 4 times a day I am disturbed by a moaning sound being blasted by high powered speakers from the mosque. The most annoying time is at 4:40 am. I can hear this noise clearly even with my windows closed. I have heard that this is a call to prayer.

This has been going on for some time, but about 8 months ago it stopped.  Then last month it began again.  (I don't know if they had a problem with their speakers or why they stopped for a time.)

I don't think they have a right to disturb people who live anywhere near their Mosque.  If it is a religious right,  do I have a right to get some big-assed speakers and blast Tennessee Ernie Ford singing Baptist hymns in the middle of the night.  I don't think so!

I am sure I am not the only person disturbed by this noise generated by the mosque.  Is there some office I can complain to or is it just a waste of time?

  4. Thanks for the info.

I looked at the spices in Makro and didn't see any Tandori spice, although it's possible I missed it.

I will look for the Indian shop when I am in that area.

  5. I am looking for Tandori powder. I have found a paste in Foodland, but want the dry spice.

The reason I am looking for this is that I think salmon filets baked with some tandori spice sprinkled over them are delicious. I buy the filets at Makro and bake them for 10 to 15 minutes.

Anybody know where to buy tandori spice in Pattaya?

  6. Just had my car washed at Fairways today. 100 baht - promotional price, I think, but didn't see an ending date (40 baht for motor bike). They have a restaurant with aircon and of course, the driving range. It's off Sukhumvit, just south of Pattaya Klang.
