I know its a long shot, But is it possible to get a taxi from Taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Yasothon and if so, Do you have any details on who to get , I know its a long drive and it will be expensive, But with the way that Thai smile charges for extra baggage and then waiting for a flight to Ubon Ratchatani then getting transport to Yasothon, it maybe better to pay a taxi driver . Maybe many won't be keen because it would be hard to get a return fare, Another possibility is to get a taxi to Buriram and then get a local taxi to take us to Yasothon .
Tank you for any advice

Try to do everything in your power to discourage him from moving that quickly. I always like to say if it's good it's only going to get better, if there are issues they're going to reveal themselves over time. You really don't know who you're dealing with until you're at least one or two years into the relationship.
The next question I would have is who's making the decisions in his life? If it's not him it's going to be her.
I am watching from the sidelines and its like the son is being lead into the lions den, Also like an arranged marriage , My wife's first marriage was arranged and that ended in Divorce but we have told them that if any marriage, Then its going to be next year at the soonest and even then, It will be going into the summer of next year by the time my wife can get time off. The wife seems to like this girl, She is switched on and to be truthful i feel sorry for the son, I feel that he is under pressure to have this relationship, He is 30 years old , He doesn't have a care in the world, He can go out drinking and he will be losing his freedom. I understand that falling in love can be magical and most of us have been there were you do want to live your life with someone until the wife takes a bite from the wedding cake which causes a nasty reaction that causes her to start dictating and nagging But hey, That's most women for you. To be totally honest, People are far better just living together than getting married , End of the day its a bit of paper that can end up costing you a fortune if it goes wrong especially if its in the UK

Thank you all for your replies.
Your correct in letting the wife get on with it, Its her money and she knows best 😉 Like or Thai women do.
I wasn't really aware of the money in the envelope and asking the wife , she is saying that it either goes to her son or to her , It depends on family tradition

No need to bring Trump into it....
Op mentioned its the Wife's money, so its up to her how much she spends, Op isn't spending a baht, but wants to be sure or understand that his wife is not being taken advantage of somehow... thats admirable....
You correct, You hear about too many scams especially when the mother is married to a westerner . The girl in question is very much switched on and she has worked most of her adult life for Chang ... Thats where she met the wifes son, He also works for the Chang but in a different depot

My Thai wife's son is dating a Thai lady and now she is talking marriage even though she has only known my wife's son for 3 months and my wife is saying that its going to cost half Million in total plus the dowry .
I know when i married my wife in Thailand it was really cheap, apparently you need to buy gold for the Thai Bride , The ceremony and a party plus other stuff. They are both 30 years old and neither have been married or have children .
The family of the girlfriend have a business, So i guess they are up in the Thai status with both of their other daughters marrying businessmen
Without really knowing the cost of a Thai Wedding , I just wonder if 500,000 Baht is about right . I believe that any dowry paid will be going back to the married Couple, That's if they do get married
My wife is paying for wedding , So its nothing out of my pocket, But i don't want her getting ripped off , I question Why the GF hasn't been married before and why the rush, If it was me , I would run a mile with talk of marriage so early on... And no babies on the way yet LOL
I guess if it was the UK , You would be talking a lot of money but Thailand is suppose to be cheap

Just phoned Thai airways london, Due to Covid we are working from home and its email service only, So likely no one is employed in the UK and the emails will be going to Thailand... On top of that , The answer phone during out of hours state that you can call between 9am and 5pm... Regards emailing them , I have done that and buying extra baggage is only possible Via Thaismile Bangkok.
Anyways , We have come up with a solution that saves us money, I am going to send the extra baggage up from Pattaya up north via Bus and its only 200 Baht

I always have good things to say about reolink .. HK based, not a company connected with the Chinese mainland, responsive support, good quality images.
They make a SIM card cameras.
https://reolink.com/blog/sim-card-security-cameras-buying-guide/
Great information, So i guess i need to buy a sim data plan that is on a contract. It would have been good if a CCTV company would sell you a plan.
I was looking at buying a camera before our next trip to thailand, but i will look for a camera once i get there.
-
Looking to install a CCTV Camera in our home in Thailand and because we are only there a few times a year, We would like to install a CCTV which we are able to view live pictures while at home.
Can i ask for recommendations for a good camera that doesn't need Wifi and maybe operate from a sim card or maybe some subscription based company that you pay monthly that just needs plugged into the power socket and connects up to a cloud based CCTV Company.
Thanks for any replies

Are you on a single ticket, i.e. using BKK as transfer airport? Then it should work.
But if you have to go through immigration (enterThailand) and then leave again (exit Thailand), then ANY delay will kill your plan.
No, its a separate ticket , We are going to chance it, The ticket is for the wife and if we miss it , Then will go and get a bus. I did asked the Eyes off owen from Youtube about is connection onto a internal flight and he said that he had loads of time, But he did buy his ticket after landing in BKK
-
yes i have been many times, but i have not transferred onto a internal flight for a long time and the last time was when emirates was delayed 2 hours and we missed our internal flight and emirates paid costs of missed flight and put us up in a hotel for the night , now i want to avoid that happening hence asking the question
-
Looking at booking a emirates flight that lands in BKK at 13:30 and planning on getting a internal Flight that leaves at 16:10, Is that going to give me enough time to transfer ?
Fully understand that the emirates flight could be delayed plus the check in for internal flights close within 50 minutes of departure
Thank you for any info

Thank you and the comments are really good and learnt a few things and yes i think its wise to pay the extra years NI. and will get onto that.
Thank you also for the links
Regards the future, In a ideal world, I would like to spend the summers in the UK and winters in Thailand and that would make the matter of pensions a little bit easier.

Not sure which forum to post this in , So Admins, Please feel free to change the location of the post.
Hi , Both my wife and i are living in the UK, I am 61 and she is 49 and my wife is a British citizen
at the moment my wife is working full time and paying into a company pension and paying National insurance contributions.
I think in Total , She has 5 years full NI contributions and she has the chance to buy 2 years for £300 where she only worked part of the year.
In the next 3 years we might decide to move to Thailand.
The questions are
Since she won't be able to claim a UK pension until 67 or maybe more if they increase the age limit to get a pension and i will be 79 IF i am still alive and kicking, Is it really worthwhile paying into pensions in the UK, Lets face it, If anything happens to me, Then their is a 99% chance of her moving back to Thailand.
Regarding paying the £300 voluntary contributions , Is this going to be a waste of money?
If we did both decide to sell up and move to Thailand
1. Can you get UK pensions paid to you direct if you don't have a UK residence ?
2. Is it correct that your pension won't increase over time to match inflation?
3. I believe that if anything happens to me and i am over pension age, Then my wife will get halve
It would be great to hear peoples views on pensions and what you have in place for your wives.
Its so difficult to find anything out and i guess the rules on UK pensions can change, Its like my wife needs 10 years NI contributions to claim a minimal pension, But that could change

Thanks for your reply
Just reading up and read the following
After you get your certificate
You must send your biometric residence permit (BRP) back to the Home Office within 5 working days of getting your certificate of British citizenship.
Cut your BRP into 4 pieces and put it in a windowless envelope.
Include a note saying you’re returning your permit because you’ve become a citizen. Include your name, date of birth and the document number (found on the front of the card) in the note.
Naturalisation BRP Returns
PO Box 195
Bristol
BS20 1BTYou’ll be fined up to £1,000 if you do not return your permit within 5 working days
So you definitely cant be taking off on a holiday if your on a Thai Passport.
Reading last night , A few people are getting their new passports within 2 to 3 weeks, Least with the UK passport , You can just about travel anywhere , When my wife first came to the UK, She got into watching benidorm, So i might take her there for a holiday !!! However , We are looking at thailand in October for 60 days ...

It was entering back into the UK that would be the issue since the Citizenship supersedes the biometric card and in the worse case , My wife would be sent back to turkey ..... at some point.
Regards the interview for the passport, I have looked through the application and they want to know everything, wouldn't you thought that been granted citizenship would have been enough
Having just watched a Youtube clip, My wife is going to struggle answering those questions especially regarding gas supplying, Broadband provider and things related to household bills......
-
Just to update, I have spoken to uk visas and immigration/passport control , He says this is a very grey area and advised from travel since my wife is still on a thai passport and without her Biometric card, She maybe denied entry............. No not worth the risk
-
Sorry if this sounds like a repeat of my last question.
My wife has just been invited to attend her British citizenship ceremony next week and we are supposed to be going to Turkey on the 15th Feb.
i understand that my wife needs to give up her Biometric Resident card after the ceremony, So i have been searching for information regarding travelling after the ceremony and before getting her UK Passport and their is little information apart from a few phone numbers for immigration uk which was a waste of time.
Has anyone traveled and returned back into the UK after the ceremony?
-
Thank you for your replies, I have just found out that people from the UK don't need a visa no more and maybe that was the main issue everytime my wife was questioned since she was allowed to enter Turkey without a visa. Regards the cold, it's not a problem, it's got to be better than the uk
-
I might already know the answer on this , But just seeking reassurance.
My wife is on her indefinite leave to remain Visa and has her biometric resident card but with a Thai Passport
With all these travel restrictions we have not traveled for 2 years now and we are planning a holiday in the next 2 weeks to Turkey.
i am just wondering if their will be any issues in turkey or even during check in the UK because of my wife's Thai Passport , We have traveled to Turkey 3 times before and every time they need to make phone calls before allowing my wife to be checked in for the flight and now with these restrictions, It may create extra problems.
In my head, I believe that it will be OK , But thought i would ask the question just in case others have had holidays and had issues during check in
The tour operator can't advise and its up to me to check
This holiday is a treat for us since its been a rough 24 months and yesterday she just got confirmation of getting British Citizenship, So we are wanting to do a holiday before the ceremony due to loosing her Biometric Card after the ceremony (They take her card off her i believe and she is then given a British citizen certificate and then its 6 weeks to apply for a passport So cant travel, Plus she starts a new job in March)
Many thanks for any replies
-
Just a update , Today my wife has been granted British Citizenship and it has only taken 19 working days from her appointment for her finger prints and photo takem.
a big thank you to the Bigyin for helping me with the application.
Good luck to others

Taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Yasothon
in Isaan
Posted
Thank you for your replies, I had not thought about the post office , Its certainly a good idea , I will mention it to the wife, Regards the taxi, I thought about about 7000 baht, i remember last year in Pattaya getting a bolt taxi to the bus station and the driver asking me where i was going and he offered to drive me to yasothon and he only asked for 5000 baht, Going by bus can be a nightmare from patts and can take up to 13 hours
