There was a guy who did this in the USA after stealing a sh!t load of money.... Thought he would make it difficult for the authorities to find him... they would think he died in a plane crash. They never found the body. But... the money washed up in a river. So they guessed he drowned...
Maybe we will know more when they find the rucksack.
The Guy in the USA was D. B. Cooper. Nothing of him or his equipment was ever found. A small part of his loot was found in the Columbia River near Portland, Oregon. As far as I know the case is still open.

Question: How many tourists come to Thailand each year? How many deaths occure per 100,000 tourists? How many of those deaths were from natural causes or self inflicted? How many were murdered? How many died in accidents? I think we need to know the answeres to these questions before we rush to judgement.

What a price to pay for being more than stupid! Learned their lesson? Lets hope so. In my experience, dealing with drugies, while they are using they would sell their children for the next high. Thailand has enough of a Drug Problem without forigners adding to it. Good luck to them.

I live on Sukhumvit Soi 8. A new bar on that Soi will have its grand opening Friday night, 12 December - Corleone's near the Sukhumvit end.
Website is http://www.corleones-bangkok.com - includes a "pop-up" voucher for a free opening night drink.
I have no particular connection to the bar, but my firm's Siam Websit division developed the website (as bar will not open 'til Friday, the site is a bit weak on bar photos).

Interesting you should mention Soi 8 and Corleone's. I noticed that place when I was staying on Soi 8 last month. I couldn't help wondering how they where going to give it a wise guy atmophere. -
seethreepio is right... they will check on the amount in your account so leave it in until your visa is approved. This knowledge is from personal, past experiences. DO NOT TAKE IT OUT OR YOUR VISA WILL BE DENIED!!!
Would it be possible to deposit the required amount in a Thai Bank, say in Los Angles?

I will be in Chiang Mai in late October and wish to rent motorcycle for a few days. I am an experenced rider 40+ years. Can anyone recomend places to rent? Should I have an international Driving Permit or is my US Licence ok. What about insurance? Thank you for any tips you can provide.
