  1. There are some ROV courses in the Phillippines that would get you a cert. Would not guarantee you a job but if you did get on it would pay nice. About 300,000 Baht for the course though. Looks like a bit more this year. Subnet Services. They have UK and Phillippines offices. Take a look. With the dual launguages it might get you in the right door. Hope this helps. Regards, Dave. Get after it, whatever you decide. Only thing that is stopping you is you. Tattoos ne er kept me from getting work.

  2. You can get rooms right there at the facility. They charge extra to stay there too but it is convienient. A couple of Karoke bars right out on the main road there too if you want to go have a beer also. The better ones are up the road a bit but there are a few right there by the Training facility. I did not get a hotel I just booked the room with my course. Hope that helps.

  3. I hope they have more luck with the finger scanners than the had here in Cambodia.

They started scanning a couple of years ago. All 10 fingers of tourists that hardly speak any English, by guys that hardly speak a word of English. Huge frustration, much shouting, enormous queues.

Result: the scanners are still there but haven't been used for a year

then Thailand can get a good deal on those...

  4. Terry you know the police are partially to blame. They throw themselves in front of traffic to get cars to stop and even try to grab on to motorcycles to make them stop. Im not saying this man is not at fault because he is. But police should have a better system to get drivers than standing at a checkpoint waiting to grab you.

Sent from my GT-S5310 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Yes. They all must have thrown themselves in front of his truck. I am thinking in this case that was not how it worked. If you mow down several police officers doing their duty then you need a good long lock up. Period. Would he get bail in the US? I doubt it. 1 cop possibly. Several? Not a chance. We do have to back those who are sworn to protect us or it really starts to all fall apart. You know. Just my thoughts though.

  5. We will soon see which are the first "rats" to jump from the sinking ship. whistling.gif

I do believe some of that already happened. People showed up to get paid to go to the big red rally, then half or more of them went straight home. Hey we had to change plans on the big rally but it will be even bigger and better next go. Yep yep you just wait and see.

  6. Out of curiosity, what would be the punishment for 16 year old say in US or AU or UK?

I know of a 16 yr old in the US who was drunk, smashed his car into another head on and killed 2 people. This was his 2nd offense for drunk driving. He was given 25-to-life. Spent two yeas in Juvie, and when he turned 18, sent to an adult prison, where he was later knifed to death in a fight.

Wasn't poetic justice but it sure was a good case for direct Karma.

  7. The prison term, however, was commuted to four year probation instead with 48 hours of charity working for one year.

Seriously? No comment Words fail me

She appealed - those 6 days' community work and the driving ban is too harsh, huh?

What about the adult who gave her the car to drive?!?? If I hand a loaded gun to some teenage girl and she shoots somebody, wouldn't I be in trouble, too?

One thing is clear, some farmer's daughter would have no lawyer and no means to appeal. she would be rotting in jail...

If you had read and understood the article you would have noticed that it was the victoms families that appealed the sentance for being too lenient. I am sure if you go back and re read it it will all become clear. They did not do a good job of fixing it but they did do something.

  8. sounds like there may be more to this...

why did they throw her in jail instead of helping her?

how is she able to contact people from jail?

why did she contact her friend and not her embassy?

why doesn't her friend contact the embassy? or a lawyer?

They threw her in jail because she was in a secure area of the airport without ID. Any other country would do the same till the find out who you are for sure.

They will let you make a call or 2 at the police station.

She contacted her friend because she had that number memorized not the embassy's. I am sure the police would have given it when asked but when in a situation like that you call who you think is going to help quickest. That would be your friend who knows you.

I am sure by now she has contacted her embassy. It would be ok for her friend to try but they are not going to do much when you call and tell them hey my friend lost her passport.... They will want her to come in so they can verify. Not everything is shady that gets posted on here.

  9. Newin hasn't been in the headlines since 2009, when he fueled the flames of problems, while Red Shirts stormed a hotel in Pattaya. He's a thug who doesn't have any uplifting ideas to go with his political power. He was a Thaksin adulator when it was advantageous to be one, and he left the Thaksin fold when it was not advantageous to remain sitting at Thaksin's feet. He's an example of why it's difficult to get decent leadership material in Thailand.

Are you saying that they all have many colored shirts in their closets? No way. That would be......cheating maybe....
