My brother will visit in October. In years past I read reports of people being denied entry into Thailand because they did not have 20,000 baht or equivalent in another currency in cash. 20,000 baht or U.S. $600 is a lot of cash be carrying around and does not sound like a good idea to me.
Is there any news about this?
Thank you in advance

I would not take such important advice from a bunch of strangers over the internet, even though some have a lot of experience and a great batting record when I can easily contact the Immigration office or Consulate that will process the application. That saves a lot of worry and doubt provided that the advice from Immigration or the Consulate makes sense...

I've been using the Udon Thani Immigration service since they came back to Udon, which was even before they moved into the police station complex. I have never had an problem with them, though I have learned to ask, on my last 90 day report prior to extending that I should ask if there are any changes from the previous years.
Yeah, the 100 baht thing is the only bit that keeps them from being ideal from my point of view, but having been to other immigration offices in the years before Immigration came back to Udon I realize that Udon Thani Immigration is far better than most if not all others.

You can always buy a new phone and SIM card, install the application on your new phone and then leave it home or at your hotel when you go out.
By the way, whether the information is used or not, most of us with cell phones are being tracked by the phone companies. There have been stores in the news that mentioned that the sought person was located by looking where his cellphone had been.

From https://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand-visa/visa-overstay-thailand
(I do not know who publishes this site, but the information is consistent with what Immigration has said in the past.)
If you are caught in Thailand as an overstaying foreigner you will be detained and face punishment. However, if you leave Thailand as an overstaying foreigner without being caught you will only face a fine and possible ban from re-entering Thailand, depending on the length of your overstay, when exiting through immigration control at the airport or land border, and will not face any imprisonment or detainment.
As you can face detainment and imprisonment even when overstaying by just one day, it is important to avoid getting caught or being questioned by police, and resolving your overstay issues as soon as possible. On occasions, immigration police will do random checks on foreign nationals on entertainment centers, on the street and some checkpoints.

A large gathering making a lot of noise? The police might be interested in shutting it down.
Living across from the new train station in Bangkok, where over a hundred tuk-tuks would wake us up around 06:00 we didn't get much sleep because the bars in front of our building. Complaining to the police, they told us to call them if it was too loud after 02:00 (AM). It worked many times as we were able get over 3 hours of sleep each night!

See and ear specialist you might need your ears cleaned. I had parked my bike for two months because I didn't feel safe on it, especially when turning. Had my ears cleaned last week and the problem that had plagued me for months is gone and I can ride the bike again. The whole thing only cost me 580 baht at a local private hospital -you price may vary, but basically it is not. a complex procedure.

I did years ago, that was while getting a 1 year extension, though I submitted the form, the Immigration officer didn't want to be bothered and told me that I could wait until my 90 report to submit the form. I don't think it is high on their list of priorities but things change all the time. Best to check with them.
One would think that submitting online affects the same database as submitting in person and in that case submitting a second time would be redundant.

Can't see why the government doesn't step in and give incentives to improve management of plastic waste. Just giving lip service, as nausea points out does little if any good, and seems to divert attention from the real problem. Getting rid of plastic cups, straws, and bags may not be successful, and besides although they are highly visible signs of plastic in the waste stream, or worse not in the waste stream, they may not be the worst contributors to pollution.
Plastics improve out daily lives but mismanagement of the waste seems to be the crux of the problem.

Don't joke about this! Many people are electrocuted by their showers around the world.
Make sure the water heater is grounded.
Make that there is a Ground Fault Interrupter circuit breaker between the heater and the AC line. The electrician who wired my house didn't know the difference between an ordinary breaker and one that would trip if any of the current strayed from the water heater (like through somebody's body). You can tell that it is a Ground Fault breaker because it will have a small test button on or near the toggle bat.
If you are getting shocked, switch to showering with a bucket until the problem is solved. Don't trust your life to plastic sandals.
If you have any questions, please post them here.
