  1. Sorry folks forgot to mention I will travel by plane. So can I exchange some money in Burma at airport. Just pocket money for eating taxi etc. Just would hate to spend 2 hours getting back and forth from airport to city.

    Thanks!

There would be no point in doing that. 4 hours is nothing and it would cost you a lot for flight and visa, which you have to get in advance at the embassy. dont change money at teh airport if you go, you have to change on the black market, so no point it would cost you 10 times what you can get at black market. take and pay in dollars. But i would not bother, go to Laos. They may also think it is strange for a person to fly to Myanmar for a few hours. It would ring bells. A paranoid militray governement don't forget!

  2. Those sex tourists spend a lot of money, more than the average backpacker. You don't find 300 baht bungalows and Samsong buckets in Pattaya. They're also the defacto welfare system for Issan single mothers and families.

If you're taking quality to mean high-end spenders then you'd be bulldozing Khao San Rd first.

Haaaa...yeah right. 300 baht rooms are available in Pattaya easy! 35 baht beer Changs also, plenty of takers at 11 in the morning also. Add in a mix of 500 baht street girls and Bobs your uncle! Pattaya is sure a quality tourist destination.

  3. The second road on the right as you go down soi 8 (7/11 on corner) is a cut through to soi 4, be prepared to pass 'Lolitas' though :whistling:

Yes can go down past 7/11 there. opposite Soi 8 bar, down alley past Sukumvite Hotel. End up near Swan bar on the corner in soi 4.

  4. Is their vote really a secret especially in tight knit villages with dominant power structures? I doubt it.

Even if it were completely secret, many would still never believe it, and still feel obligated to vote the way they were paid to or suffer consequences.

Town and village intimidation, or be an outcast in your village, the village head man will see to that. The town voted in head of government. 46 villages in our town area, all the village head men are paid by him. Lose your part time job 6k a month. or conform. Simple isn't it. In the cities I have no Idea, but here in the sticks in Issan, Fact....some posters will say in my village it doesn't happen, but they are also blackmailed.

Insert any word for VOTES. Granny, Daughter, Kidneys, Dog, Virginity etc etc

  5. Finally, our aircraft carrier can see some action like the US Marines. Did ours came equipped with Tom Cat, Cruise Missiles and Tom Cruise; like in Top gun? If our aircraft carrier don't have enough fire power, we can line up a row on broken Chinese tank (like the one thrown into the sea for corral last week), and shoot with it. I think the tank's gun is still operational.

Well how about the Piracy on Sukumvite and Pantip plaza? You would think they would crack down at home first before going after African pirates. Oh but the boys in brown are not making money out of the Somali deals, so guess that is wishful thinking.

  6. Just out of interest, do the original owners of studio have anything to do with your establishment? (I use to drink and party there from like 14-18ish), I went the other day for dinner and have to say you have made the place a lot nicer, really liked the variety of sports you had on.

What if you want to watch and LISTEN to sports for goodness sake!

  7. Bradman's Sports Bistro, Sukhumvit Soi 23

    Wall St, Sukhumvit Soi 33

    Tenderloins, Sukhumvit Soi 33

Avoid Soi 8 bar in Soi 8 unless you are a heavy smoker or plan to become one..

    Go the Irish! :)

Soi 8 is fine for me, cheaper beers than the rest. Sportsman bar near Dubliners is an option, also Sports corner on soi 20. i will be there for Wales game later!

  8. #1 drug = Tobacco

    #2 drug = Alcohol

    #3 drug = Cannabis

This kind of sentence makes no sense at all, when governments allow the sale of cigarettes and alcohol which takes far many more lives than soft drugs like dope. Heroin is another matter; but the death sentence?? A good long jail term is punishment enough... and hanging!? I couldn't think of a more barbarous and inhumane way of ending someones life.

I guess everbody has it's own opinion yes tobacco is a drug so is alcohol so is coffee and tea but I have never seen anybody who had this drugs and then switched to heroin or ice or what ever.

But many users of dope just do that !! :o

This is incorrect and not supported by statistics.

The only correlation one can see in a limited number of countries, and this is not related to the drug itself, is that a person not afraid to use illegal substance is less afraid to use heavier illegal substances. But there is no truth to the gateway theory with lesser drugs as a joint as a stepping stone towards heroin...

Statistics can be made to say what people want them to say..

It's obvious that starting with a harmless cannabis joint leads onto more substantial and harder drugs....how can i say this.. from my own personal experience and of many friends from my younger days. We all started smoking weed and moved onto harder drugs..

I've never yet met a heroin user who did not start out smoking weed, moving quickly onto speed/coke/pills then the heavy stuff.

Its a joke. The police make huge amounts from smuggling, they dont want it legal it would kill the golden goose. Illegal makes it expensive, expensive means profit for the elite. Legalize it all! Its not the governments business what people do with their own bodies. make it legal make it safe and cut the crimes!

  9. Yaba is the most dangerous drug out there, If they are only testing for this drug I am all for it. The article does not mention anything about other drug??

Yes yaba is dangerous and lucrative, thats why many police top up their wages with little or not so little deals. If you are in with the police you can sell it, if not then look out.

  10. ^sadly, it's one of the worst indeed.

but hopefully, the new one will be up to your standards. :o

Not anymore. The new one is sophisticated and nice. Just been there last week.

Haaaa you are joking. I went there a day ago, it is so drab and could not find a place to change money. Had to go upstairs to a tiny booth and had my passport taken away by security just to get there!! He wanted money to give it back to me!! A joke. They even allowed me to carry on a small scissors on board!!

  11. Oh, I just read another thread where "police intensify raids on Internet cafes to crack down on drug usage"

Definitely a ban on Internet cafes or even a ban on the Internet all together.

Dont forget that many police own the internet cafes in Thailand. take a look at many of the licences...many are of police.

    oit

    Only in Thailand!
