How ignorant/absolutely stupid can a government be? Surely, not any more than the Thai Tourism Ministry.

No we are not being ripped off as I doubt many guys here post seeds around the world. ????
I think you are wrong about this. Many do send seeds out of Thailand.

The dog should be immediately destroyed, and that shouldn't be up for discussion.
Again, compensation being discussed... Money Number One. ????
I wonder what the child, when he or she grows up, will think when they are told that the criminal who was responsible for her disfigurement only had to pay a few hundred dollars in compensation and was never properly punished?
Disgusting and pathetic.
I don't agree. It is the owners responsibility but the dog cannot be held guilty of a crime. Additionally, you jump the gun by trying to say what the penalty of the owner will be without any real knowledge.

Thewan sounds like one of Trump's cronies. What a silly statement he made when he said, " soon everything will be back in normal."

Great news. I hope Phuket crashes and burns. It's an awful place.

It appears that the Thai government is trying to rid the country of retired foreigners. New rules are preventing us from living here comfortably by making it more expensive and difficult to renew retirement visas. If I had it all to do over again I would not choose Thailand. Panama here I come.

The very real problem is that no one, including the immigration officers, know what will be allowed.

What is the rule regarding how much one must deposit each month to obtain a Retirement Visa Extension? Is it 65,000 baht for each month? Specifically, is it an average of all deposits for the year or a different rule?

It's not "in an industrial estate".
Perhaps not industrial but certainly a governmental estate with nothing to do. Besides, if you leave you risk missing your place in line. What then? Start over?

Renewed my Reirement Extension and multiple re-entry permit last week took all of about twenty minutes, shocking inconvenience once a year.
Are you saying that it took only 20 minutes at immigration to do this?

"The agent spoke no English so she could not tell me anything about why I needed the new documents or map"
And you spoke/read no Thai after 14 years in Thailand and couldn't ask why you needed the new documents or map. Works both ways buddy ????
Do you speak Thai fluently? Just wondering.

Yesterday I had the non pleasure of visiting the Bangkok immigration office for a visa extension. It was my worse time there in 14 years I have had to go there and I was there from 9 AM until 4 PM. At one time there were only only two agents working desks and at least 500 people waiting to get visa extensions. Not until after the lunch break were all desks maned and working. The new head of Immigration is supposed to be getting things working better but he has certainly done nothing to speed things up. Also, I had to sign three new papers and I have no idea what they said because they were all in Thai with no English Translation. In addition I had to draw a map to my residence. The agent spoke no English so she could not tell me anything about why I needed the new documents or map.

Loads of people can read a map but never got a batch for it.
Your ignorance apparently extends to the boy scouts and, probably, many other things.

The Thai middle class is group that is "used" by the upper class. This so called middle class is comprised of people who are less smart than those they believe to be the unintelligent lower class citizens of Thailand, namely the Red Shirts. They were used as fodder to support the demonstrations which allowed the military to take control of the country in order to give the upper class the control they cannot achieve through elections. The upper class are crafty and evil bastards just as they are in almost every country in the world. Especially the USA.

One by one the police corrupt big shots are getting uncovered.
This is why they supported Thaksin, Yingluck and the rest as they never bothered them in their mafia dealings.
About time this police force has been investigated and dealt with.
My worries is why don't they fire them but put them in inactive posts while they still draw their salaries.
Hope this will change soon.
People like you seem to have forgotten that police corruption has been common in Thailand before and even after the Shinawatras. The police were most corrupt during The Democrats under Abhisit.

Selective amnesia - look at the headlines from a year ago.
Indeed. Unsurprising that Red Shirt Sympathizer Pongkwan, Red Shirt Leader Sombat, and Red Shirt Lawyer Anon are the ones with selective amnesia.
You have your opinion and I have mine and we do NOT agree.

Thanks to those who responded to my request for a Podiatrist. I have been to the Podology Center in Bangkok and, while I hesitate to call them frauds, they are not forthcoming with the truth. These people are not Podiatrist. They may have some type of training in Germany as they claim but they do not have medical degrees. I asked this question while making an appointment and was assured that they were certified podiatrist. This is untrue. Only a medical doctor who is trained as podiatrist can be one.

I highly recommend Thonglor Dental Clinic. They have done great work for me. Not cheap but not expensive by US standards and very good care.
