  1. What I am surprised is people sympathy towards Red. I hear a old women shouting(more like crying) every time we heard the firings. Everyone I talk to seems disapprove of the firing. :o

There are just as many Red sympathy as Yello sympathy. I declare it a draw.

Let the 2 groups (Red & Yellow) fight on the street. All others (police, army, etc) should just ignore both sides. The last one standing wins.

Yeah samgrowth, that's a great idea, and thoroughly democratic :D

So, hothead, are you going to have a pop at Koo82's post in which reference was made to an 'anonymous doctor' ........

    Dr.................Dr Who!

    Sorry folks!

On a serious note, can anyone tell me if any of this <deleted> is happening near the-

Department of Consular Affairs, Thanon Chaengwattana. (Thai Passport)

and British Embassy, 14 Wireless Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan. (British Passport)

andThe UK Visa Application Centre, Regent House, 2nd Floor, 183, Rajdamri Road, Kwaeng Lumpini.

    Thanks

  3. I just came of the phone with a police friend of mine as I was getting pissed of with the police doing nothing. He is a very nice guy and he speaks perfect English and he is a Colonel.

He explained that it was very simple. Even if a government, any government would order them to go in, they wouldn't do it. Not because they like the protesters. But because of the law.

He said the last few times the police did anything towards any protesters the commanding officers found themselves in front of criminal court and were disgracefully dismissed from service. He said no sane police officer would have themselves disgraced anymore for following orders from any government being red, yellow, blue. As they would always betray them afterwards by letting the police officers take the fall for the failure of the government.

He said he is personally itching to put down the riots. Willing to be wounded in the process. But he isn't willing to be disgraced for doing his duty and following orders. He said that the majority of the police officers is feeling that way.

The problem is with the law according to him. There are laws protecting protesters rights. There are no laws that protect a police officer from acting against protesters even when under orders from the government. The police officers are by law responsible for any wounded from their actions. Even when ordered. and that is why they will not do anything.

    Utter nonsense.

NAME YOUR SOURCE, or its a rumour and nothing more.

Under an SOE the Army are responsible, not the police.

The police are quoted on AJE as being "not under the control of the government with many joining the reds".

No more "I talked to a friend posts" rumours.

Name the source, or shut up.

Why should I threathen a friends safety. If you consider it a rumour. Than fine. Treat it as one. But do not criticize me for trying to get information out to people. Let everyone judge for themselves how much worth they give to this. We are all adults and can all make up our own minds.

That's a fair point LevelHead I must admit but I am rather surprised that you went off on him as you did, I have been following the thread and noticed that your comments/posts are generally, errrm........well, level headed! Surely you must understand that in the current situation certain people in certain positions need to remain unnamed for their own safety, in short- confidential.

That's a very interesting statement WAERTH, thanks for that. Those poor cops then, there's nothing worse than being stuck between a rock and a hard place!

You don't know any army generals you can contact do you? It would be nice to know what their strategy is :o

  5. Below are updates from TAN Network:

    13/04/09

04.17: Dispersal of red-shirt protesters at Din Daeng intersection began

08.30: Pheu Thai Payap Panket, former Sing Buri MP, called on red-shirt protesters to surround and possibly torch King Power duty free in Rangnam

08.39: Red-shirts closed traffic at Sri Ayutthaya intersection near Foreign Affairs ministry. Buses used to block entries. Tires were set on fire causing heavy fumes and lack of visibility in the area

9.15: Police requested members of the press to leave Democrats headquarters after red-shirt protesters have threatened to torch the compound

9.30: Red-shirts took back control of Din Daeng intersection, LPG tanker blocks entrance/exit

10.05: Police and military call for back-up, fearing red-shirts protesters may use LPG gas tanker to torch Democrats headquarters

Can somebody tell me what exactly an LPG gas tanker is? I did see some type of white and blue tanker truck, full of what, I don't know, parked right by the King Power offices. It was well inside the barricades seperating the compound from Soi Ragnam. Everyone seemed to be standing around staring at it.

Liquid Propane Gas dude. Extremely FLAMMABLE :o

  6. There's a serious standoff going on right now in front of the Century Park Hotel. I live near there and just got back from a walk over there. You've got hundreds of red shirts standing in front of the hotel, facing north, and hundreds of soldiers 50 m away facing the redshirts and they're just standing there staring each other down. A lot of foreigners at the hotel are standing out front watching the action. Bad scene indeed. I heard what I thought was a gunshot and started jogging away, but I guess it was something else though, as nobody moved. Startled the crap out of me. I'll be staying close to home for the rest of the day I believe.

scary thanks for the first hand informations.

Yes, scary indeed. Keep a low profile FreedomDude. I hope it don't turn nasty.

  7. This reminds me of a shark feeding frenzy. Most people on this site are Farangs and with apparently bug-gar all to do. Why not turn off your computers and get out and get real. Politics have got nothing to do with us so by the time you get back. it will all be over.

We are guests in this country, something that apparently gets overlooked. Unless you have voting rights, let the people who do ,have their say, instead of peddling gossip on this site

Using yourself as an example for that comment are we? :o

Are we not allowed an opinion and opportunity to discuss it? :D

Thanks for your input and of course, feel free to heed your own advise. :D

  8. I am informed the Army will not do anything.

They will not use force against the Reds.

The politicians will be given the choice to step down, or be removed.

An anti-Democrat/Coalition coup is looking very likely, unless they dissolve the House.

While that certainly sounds fascinating, I would request you name your source, or else refrain from posting wild speculation. Things are too serious.

LOL, you sound exactly like SJ.

i think it is quite obvious.... without having to provide any souce... that the army won't be doing anything , they don't have the will.

I would suggest that a man who uses a coward and convicted fugitive for an avatar is also not the most credible of sources. Request stands.

Well, well, well Mr ThaksinistheDevil. You have been very keen to point out to posters about their inappropriate remarks as in post#320, and here you are 'picking' on someones avatar!

I would suggest that you too abide by the morals you seem to enjoy issuing and stay on subject. :o

  9. I just keep wondering, do you guys really want a good and democratic Thailand? Or just acting like self-rightenous asses while shouting to your Thai ladies there "where is my beer"? Condo Armchair Commandos strike again? Actually going to those demonstrations would be no-no because one could actually get hurt that way?

Whoa.....TIME OUT Tim, Time out. So who has upset you old chap. There's absolutely no reason at all why you should come on here and insult ALL TV members. We are just having a civilised debate here and as far as I am aware we are entitled to an opinion, as are you but please refrain from insults- Its immature.

  10. Just as an aside:

What pretty much EVERYONE has ignored is that the reds' original demands had nothing to do with Thaksin. They wanted fresh democratic elections and the investigation and prosecution of the criminals who took over the airport. These are reasonable demands. Thaksin has been gone a long time without much complaint, but the unfair practices by the opposition have given old Thaksin a leg to stand on. It's easy to hate Thaksin and focus on him... but if you do, you lose the democratic perspective.

You have a fair point there Vindie - There has been a few comments from some saying bring back Thaksin, over the past two years and there was no real fuss to include him in the last election (although, I believe he did pretty much control TRT still) but I don't recall mass rallies to demand his return.

But why is it that the red shirt are always having video links with thaksin? If they truly are only pro-democracy then why associate yourself with thaksin? Thaksin is hardly the stalwart of democratic values.

I think its probably a bit of the 'better the devil you know' syndrome and because the majority of the rural voters did actually benefit from him so - Mai-ben-arai if he helps himself as well!

  12. Sadly OldMadRiver is one of the hardcore Yellows who will never change their mind or allow free thought.

I posted "Thaksin took from the rich Elite and gave to the lower levels to spread it".

OMR says "gave to the poor".

No, I did not say that. He spread it about to the levels below the Elite, which in turn spread it out amongst more people by the chain reaction, as opposed to it being taken all by just a very few uber rich elite.

OMR says Thaksin did not crack down on corruption, he did, in a big way, but he cracked down the Elite and allowed a lot more lower level fingers in the pie. (1)You cannot take a society that is used to total corruption and make it clean in one foul swoop. What you can do is spread it out more and more until so many fingers are in the pie that its so diluted that finally it becomes of no real importance, and from that stage, you clean it up.

(2)The drugs trade is run by the Elite,(3) how on earth do you think all the drugs get into Thailand and transported so easily around the place. Are the Army so useless they cannot patrol the borders or are they turning a blind eye on purpose? You choose! This was the first big run in between Thaksin and the Elite......by clamping down on drugs it stopped their income from this illicit trade and this was the first stage of upsetting them. Its well (4) documented how the drugs factories in Burma run at very low production levels once the crackdown was in place.

OMR might have Democrat connections, or their business may be suited to have Dems in power, but do not let these people with their lies and unproven allegations cloud peoples minds.

(5)Thaksin has never been proven to have taken any money for himself. And until such time as he is, he is innocent of any charges of taking money for himself.

One must be very careful not to allow the "anti-Thaksin" hype and propoganda to cloud the real issue and problem, and that is of course the 2006 coup and all events that followed.

Thailand needs its 1997 Peoples constitution back really.

    (1) Aphisit destroyed any credibility Thaksin may have had in one clean sweep by not taking forceful action against the reds in Pattaya...checkmate

(2a) Bullshit...the methamphetamine drug trade is not run by any single entity, its a conglomeration of many different importers of methamphetamine (yabaa) burmese goods, mainly the Wah State army, which then redistributes to regional wholesalers which make individual runs to bangkok or other provinces.

The defect KMT troops in Mae Salong use to charge a fee to let them through the area until Khun Sa challenged them with a 500 strong mule train.

(2b) Crystal methamphetamine (ice) IS mainly imported from China this is the major source for Pseudoephedrine the other source is India- the main component needed to create this drug as well as regular methamphetamine(yabaa).

(2c) Marijuana is imported from Laos and Cambodia...Weed is a big load that smells, that couldnt possibly make it from the north/burma to the central region. It has to come by boat eg: Mekong river.

(2d) Opium is imported from Burma as well as grown within Thai borders.

(2d) Cocaine - Africans are the importers, their trade mark is wrapping coca in end tips of plastic bags, like the ones from 7-11.

    (3) My statements above can easily illustrate how hard it is to entrap drug dealers, the government does not know which direction they are coming from, most seasoned dealers use old trade routes not on the maps. I can go to the Tachilek border and scoop up 100 tabs, and no one would know. Long time residents in these border areas do not need paperwork to travel between borders, because they are well known to the officials.

    (4) Of course drug factories run at lower levels during a crackdown. Why would they boost production to get caught?

    (5) I have a relative that paid millions of baht under the table to get the contract to construct part of the new airport. Not directly to Thaksin, but to his relatives.

why are drugs easily distributed you ask? its not because of the elitist...it's the fires that are lit every year to supposedly clear old brush....the smoke blocks satellite imagery of the mule trains. Dogs become useless, binoculars become useless, heat sensing radar becomes useless, soldiers become useless because they are not native to the territory, and lookouts see them coming from a mile away.

You really want to end the meth drug trade you have to monitor the Indian border, since thailand does not have a border with India, its up to burma and everyone knows thats not going to happen.

So they set the brush fires in the north. If you look at drug seizures for any given year, the incidence of brush fires will be corresponding in relation.

:o Hmmmm.......... This guy knows his drugs!!! :D

  13. Maybe you Brits should worry more about UK than Thailand, whether that foggy island will turn into mere Mad Max or even worse, "28 days later" barren wasteland, thanks to this global crisis. All those beautiful minds "with high IQ and low EQ or was it just high AQ" in London really screwed up this time...

FYI - This is Thai Visa Forum.........A forum for discussing issues regarding Thailand. I am sure if you looked hard enough you may find a UK forum where your comments would be more apt!

  14. Spoken like a true Thai. You get honorary MTTT status... We should all just stop caring, taking any interest at all and become brainless retards like most Thais....

The former is a foreign educated Thai and the latter a local ie. uneducated Thai as sadly the education system here ranks as amongst the worst in the world because of.... yes, years of lack of interest because the ruling families send their kids abroad anyway to be educated so who cares about the local poor!

Please let's be clear here... I use my words carefully... brainless = brains have been lost because of no use, retard = on the international IQ scale, most Thais are classified as that by their average IQ of 88.

Not my fault, I am the one campaigning here for change to get an education for them as I think carefully where my 6 months old son is going to go to school...

If you are going to refer to national groups as "brainless retards", at least be able to spell "miriad" properly. PS. it's "myriad"

This is the news forum, specifically regarding the Emergency Laws in Pattaya. If you wish to give spelling lessons feel free to start a thread on English Grammar

  15. Rainman, you disappeared for a while there. Out washing the blood out of one of your red t-shirts?? :o

Wow, you were really close there with that guess.

No, actually I was supervising the construction of our house, in specific at that moment, the kitchen. I almost missed your dumb comments for a while, too.

Need any more details or does that satisfy you for now? :D

i know the colour of your feekin' kitchen... RED!

    OH NO! :D

Don't tell me the 'red kitchens' are joining in with the 'red shirts' :D

  16. But what does state of emergency actually means?

Does it mean police and army will now use the force? or all of us people living in Pattaya have to walk around in fear of being attacked?

Lucky for me, i live 100 meters away from red shirts camp(which was overnight near Big C)

Not only i was unable to go get some food, but had to listen to the crap all night long. Mind you with so many people all 7 elevens and family marts were emptied out of food and drinks in under an hour.

So not only i could not buy any food, i also could not order any food.

So state of emergency means, they will use force to move the camp or does it mean i have to starve to death or ????????????????

Do not need to worry about my other half, she can cook and eat all the bugs and grass around the condo, but i am not at that level yet

:o you cracked me up... I was reading this and when I got to the part about your better half cooking and eating the bugs and grass around the condo... I spit pepsi through my nose.... :D

At least you got pepsi, i did not even have that. lol

Looking out from the balcony there were a few thai girls walking around the grass area in the condo, they all must of been looking for dinner and breakfast :D

What colour shirts are they wearing???

  17. But what does state of emergency actually means?

:D I'm with you on that one khaowong1, it tickled me too! I know what he means though, my wife can make a meal where there isn't any food! :D

  18. So in other words, you havent got a clue :D

    Suggest you add,

    4) The tooth fairy

    5) The Easter Bunny

I completely agree with you there. Putting the government, the army, the police and the PAD in the same category as the tooth fairy and the easter bunny sounds about right.

    :D

    :o:D:D Good answer rainman!

  19. Another Seinfeld thread about nothing, will be interesting to see if you come back and thank us all for our input :o

Hmmmnn! Another Seinfeld post about nothing! :D

Take your mask off, its obscuring your vision :D - Take a look back up at post #33

Oh! And thank you zorro1 for your valuable contribution.............It was great :D
