  2. Thanks Rice555

Been raining cats and dogs down here Too .... I will post more pics as I go.. greenhouse was second hand ... but I might be putting another one up later on.. easy to build out of 1.1/2 inch galvanised gas line ... and some samler 1.1/4 inch.. you just need to find a shop with a pipe bender and a welder .. it was originally from China thai but when I contacted them about buying a new plastic covering they told me they don't sell replacements and I had to go find the plastic my self ... this is enough for me not to recommend them, and people should make there own ... for a fraction of the price..

  3. Am I alone in waking up daily to the sound of Sonny & Cher?

    MV5BMTU0MzQyNTExMV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMjA0

Clever way to phrase it ... Put your boots on cuz its cold outside.... Rip to the couple of kids just looking for there little slice of paradise .... I lived on Koh Tao for 2 years ... and all I have to say is this was "No Boating accident " the local youth are uncontrollable and untouchable... and any misconduct is always shrugged off with .. he is always causing trouble .. never mind.. Thai rak Thai

Only thing different about this case is that it broke big and fast internationally, and the military is overseeing things now ... The local bib have all been removed from the island and replaced .... big shake up today .. the hammer just dropped on the island today due to the uk media calling a spade a spade .. have loads of friends coming over to the mainland till this thing settles down .... I agree if the general (PM) is serious he needs to clean out all three islands of the petiy gangsterism.. say what you want about Cuba but the locals know is not to bite the hand that feeds you .. or the state will sort you out ... other way round here it almost seems sanctiond.

  4. I can’t get the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet website to work. Can anyone confirm if they are open on July 8, 9, 10, 11? (I know 11th is Asalha Bucha, just wanted to confirm).

    *******

Also, can anyone confirm if the following travel plan makes sense time-wise?:

    Day 1:

Air Asia – DMK to Nakhon Phanom (15:10-16:20)

Van/bus - Nakhon Phanom to Mukdahan

    Stay one night in Mukdahan

    Day 2:

Cross border, Submit visa application, Stay one night in Savannaket

    Day 3:

    Pick up visa

    Van/bus Mukdahan to Ubon

Air Asia – Ubon to DMK (19:25-20:30)

***Will I have enough time to get from Mukdahan to my 19:25 flight in Ubon after I pick up my visa?

    Thanks a lot.

They will only be closed on the 11th of July.

You could make it to Savannakhet on day one. The bridge does not close until 10. That would eliminate the early morning dash across the bridge on day 2.

You will have plenty of time to make you flight to Ubon by van or bus. You will arrive at the main bus station and can get a meter taxi to take you to the airport. About 70 or 80 baht.

I landed in Nakhon Phanom about 4:30pm, got the Air Asia van about 4:45 no problem, got to the Savannakhet border crossing about 6:15...

...and they told me farang cannot get visa after 6pm and that I have to come back in the morning.

I am now sitting in a 350Baht hotel room in Mukdahan.

    So FYI.

ubon joe can you confirm that laos visas are not issued after 6pm to westerners .... it sounds like a inconvenient scam... Will I have to adjust my itinerary? I was hoping to just pop over the border and spend an extra night in laos ... or do I need to find accommodation in Mukdahan?

  7. In Costa Rica you get 90 day on arrival but have to leave the country for 72hrs before you can re enter and get a new 90 day visa..... If immigration was smart they would be pushing for this and investing in border town hotels and restaurants ..... also to anyone trying to compare this to western policies .. remember in the west at least you get treated like a person.. and if you are married to one of its citizens you are afforded basic human rights... I also think work permits should be more readily available ... without ridiculous restrictions ..like x # of local staff ... and a reasonable tax rate .. as most westerners are at least used to paying tax as I have yet to find any local that I talk to that collects or pays tax on their small businesses ... big boost for the economy and a incentive for westerners to go legit ... but I guess this would be too progressif...

  8. Well no matter what I said I couldn't get the brother to use the Cols advice. we went for o to1 kilos days to 16 kilos a day in five days. How did that happen I took over and did what the Col, siad. Sometimes it's just easier to do it yuorself then trying to get someone to understand. That being said it's still ride season and I'm going

They say seeing is believing we shall see.

    Hi Ray

Can you give us the new protocol the Col helped you with to get up to 16kg per day ... also could you explain the milk sugar spray you used ... maybe the recipe and application rate ... I have done a lot of small scale mushroom production and when I pasteurize my substrate I place a wire probe thermometer into the center of one bag and start timing 90min once it get to 140f but keep it below 165f as that will start to kill off the beneficial bacteria... are you pasteurizing or sterilizing your substrate bag's .. do you know the temp your bags reach in the center ???

I am thinking of making my own packs now too ... I like the idea of the pre mix formula to cut down on the work load ... i also can make my own spawn grain, agar work ... I have done everything from a spore print up till now, I built a still air box and have my sterile technique down to a tight system. with no contamination any more .... long learning curve with that and a lot of mistakes along the way.... but you do learn a lot more by making mistakes

really enjoyed reading this thread and was hoping to learn a few more tips to increase yields.. and you eluded to that with the milk sugar spray ... sounds a bit more natural than the super mix hormone spray ..

Thanks again and hope your still picking

  9. I know a guy that had them ejected into his heart about 7 years ago .... he was in his 50's and I don't remember what was wrong with him before the injections but the doctors back in america gave him only a few months/year's to live .... he went to Bangkok every 4 or 6 months for another round and you could see him looking better for it .... he also started (probably the reason he had heart trouble to begin with ) drinking heavily .. 2 to 3 bottles of samsong a day ( big 750ml bottles and he is an ugly bad drunk.. but great guy when you catch him sober-ish in the morning ).. and he was a chain smoker 3 pack + per day ..... plus he would entertain a different young lady every night .. the strain his injured hart was under would be enormous.. but with the stem cell injections it made him younger and all his tests came back the he had the heart of a man 20 years younger ... It cost him $150,000 + for the treatments maybe more by now ... If I had the money I would start doing them now ..... after seeing what they did for him..

  10. If they all had not rushed into cutting down their fruit orchards to plant the latest get rich quick crop rubber & oil palm... their would not be such a surplus, simple supply and demand ... the price of fruit is going up because the demand is becoming more than can be supplied .... Same goes for the rice ..... it is only being subsidised to get the isan vote.... but the subsidies can't go on much longer .....
