Let's be straight....90% of foreigners date women who are deemed most unattractive for Thai people. This is probably the main reason they're looking, other reasons may include age difference, clothing, size difference or general cross-cultural curiosity. Occasionally a foreigner will be with a girl to make Thai people stare nearly open-mouthed with surprise, as it's such a rare sight for a foreigner to be with an attractive classy-looking girl. Older wealthy Thais will stare disapprovingly at the girl sometimes, other people will look back and forth probably thinking "wow, a foreigner likes a white-skinned girl...how did they meet?" or possibly "wow, she doesn't look like a bargirl...maybe she studied abroad and met him there".

Motorbike taxi drivers often stare at any girls in a short skirt and if they're a dark girl with a foreigner may well be thinking "she must be easy...I wouldn't mind a go".

It's quite interesting for me how people are perceived and what people think of others, that is why I ask quite a few people their opinions when they see x and y.

I am not so sure that most farang men actively seek out women who might not be light enough or "Chinesey" enought to be considered super attractive by the bulk of Thai men. But I do think a girl who meets the Thai ideals will be more likely to gravitate to Thai men, either closer to their own age for love or hiso-types who can take care of her. But a darker or heavier girl who wants to meet someone, whether for love or for financial/security reasons, "knows" that farang men like dark girls or heavier girls (she "knows" because everyone around her tells her that), so she joins the farang-oriented dating sites, asks her friends to introduce her to farangs, works in the bars, whatever.

But most farangs, in my opinion, don't really care about that. They just see a younger girl who seems interested in them, and they are like giddy school kids. Light-skin or dark skin, heavier or skinny, that is not the issue. Young and available is the issue.

donkeys are better: stronger, steadier, can deal with less rich rations and eat less (they dont over eat for the most part), can be left to graze on scrub and brush, which a horse usually wont do, have fewer medical conditions (legs, hooves colic etc), dont need to shoe them, learn the route and dont need to be 'driven', less height to fall off from, lower maintenance in general than most horses/ponies, intelligent (but stubborn), less sensitive to noise etc,

THis is a MYTH that horse " Need " shoes. Shoes cause more problems than they solve, White line disease, laminitus , etc etc.

Hooves are actually quite flexible shock absorbers, applying a metal band negates this .

Farriers grow hooves to be too long so as to hammer nails in, they're meant to be shaped as thin wedged shovels.

Hooves pump blood with every step and shoeing can cause up to 30 % drop in blood pressure.

We exercise our barefoot horses on a varying terrain field with lots of rocks and gravel, like in nature and the horses hooves remain trim and clean themselves.

More importantly for horses in Thailand , tropical grasses have compounds that leach calcium from equine bones , a horse will die if grazing is its only source of food .

Main thing is MOST Thais are incapable of caring for horses properly, any animals really . Tigers in Dept stores , my neigbor keeps a hawk in a cage too small for the bird to even stretch its wings.. Another takes great pleasure in abusing his dog regularly . Other neighbors kill female kittens and let the males grow and roam freely , impregnating more cats......

Now this was celebrated as an outstanding achievement of feminism and yadayadayada...and I wondered what is the point?? Not married = Miss, married = Mrs.

Babylon Beach Club, toward the south end is upscalish , pricy....Bang Tao Bungalow s has a nice spread further south. Must about 25 restaurants at that end of the beach . And then there are the 5 star resorts in the middle ( B Tao is about 8 km long )

However beware the lone restaurant at the north end ... the most tasteless food I've had in Thailand ( other than the tomato soup on a train to Chang Mai with a big thick black hair in it. Yechhh !!)

Let your gardener have an hour for lunch- that is reasonable. I'd also let him arrive at a time he chooses, the roses don;t need him there early , do they? Chlorine" smell" is actually bacteria dying and releasing the odor. YOu may not smell chlorine at all no matter how much is added. Incidentally not all e coli bacteria is deadly , only a certain strain .....
