I just got my 2nd retirment visa here in Phuket.  No problems, showed them my bank statement showing 800,000 baht in it (deposited the day before :-) )

and 1 photo, 500 baht and 15 minutes later I am good for another year.

Add to that a 1 year multiple re-entry permit for 1,000 baht

You can always buy a cond (farangs allowed 49% of the totla numebr) but a retirement visa gives you no rights to buy land or WORK!!!

There is no way the thai embassy will issue him a type o visa if he is not married BUT if he is Married there is no trouble getting one in either Penanag or Singapore.

In Singapore (where I used to get mine before I got my one year retirement visa) it cost $92 singapore dollars show them 1 copy of your marriage certificate and give them 2 photos for a 1 year multiple entry type on visa!!  turn in in monday thru thrusday in the morn- pick it up the next afternoon!!

I live in Phuket and have a non o retirment visa.  Had to show bank book showing 800,000 in it.  I am married also and that makes no difference.

Took 10 minutes and cost 500 baht!!
