  1. Question for the experts;

    I arrived on a NON-O Multiple entry visa (Based on my children) in November 2019 - valid until November 2020. Due to Covid I did not leave the country until September 2020 (but got the Covid-extensions when needed) I got a Re-entry permit when leaving for Europe - and used that in beginning of October 2020 to get back through the Phuket Sandbox.

    Since returning - I have had 2 Covid extensions - and my Permission to stay expire early March.

    If I understand correctly - the Immigration would not be giving me a new Covid-extension since I originally arrived in October on a re-entry permit based on my NON-O.

    If this is the case, can I then apply for a 60 days extension based on my children?

    If not I guess the "only" option is to have 400K in the bank on the day of application and apply for a 1-year extension based of being the father of a Thai citizen?

    Any input is appreciated.

    TIA.

    In a word . . . don't do it! Sadly, I would not trust this company farther than I could throw them! As the ole' saying goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!" That was my concern when reading the reviews and researching this company. They are definitely a legitimate company. But, in the end, the sales rep I was corresponding with emailed me two days before they were to pick up my shipment at my house (one week before departing the country!) and told me the prices went up over ฿63,000 because of Chinese New Year! We have a word for that back in the southern part of America: "hogwash!" This was nothing less then your classic, dishonest "bait and switch" ploy to get my business with a lower price and then try to hold me hostage at the last minute to charge me more! If they will do that now, what might they do when my goods are off the coast of the port on the other side of the world? They could/would simply hold my stuff and not release it until I "ransomed" it with whatever price they require, and I would have no choice but to pay it! Nope. Sadly, they lost my business and will lose yours too, if you are wise. I went with another, more reputable company with whom I had already corresponded with--last minute! Maybe you will fare better with them than I did; but, I wouldn't go there, if I were you!

    It depends a bit on what actual contract you had with them. I guess you had a written binding price quote and signed deal. As you probably knows the cost of sea freight has gone through the roof! - We used to pay around THB100.000 pre-Covid for a 40 FCL, now we have paid up to THB600.000 (this is China to Europe). Quite insane....

    But I guess you booked it near departure.

    Some agents don't enjoy assisting with extensions marriage.

    Don't be surprised if they even suggest extension volunteering.

    My guess is the 400k for few months is the issue for you?

    Does the 400k need to be seasoned when applying based on being a parent of a Thai?

  4. The funny thing about Thailand is that at the end of the day (or rather the trip) the customs officer is the one who is going to decide on your fate. If it was me (and I have only entered Thailand around 200+ times) I would be honest (and prepared) and go on "red" and tell them - and show supporting documents. Remember - the ONLY thing they think about - is HOW can they make money from you. And be prepared...... I have imported Naltrexone (for Alcohol use disorder) from India several times. And never any problem. Its not a narcotic. Good luck with your girlfriend and the diamond ring ????

  5. Shipping costs are extremely high at the moment. I guess it would probably be GBP4000-5000 to ship it in a 20 feet container at the moment. Heck, we shipped a 40 feet container from China to Europa some time ago and paid more than GBP10.000 - estimated to increase to GBP15.000-20.000 in the next few months. Its insane..... compared to GBP2000 1+ year ago for a 40ft HC.

    Posted this awhile ago regarding my import of snowboard boots that I had shipped to me along with 2 bottles of ibuprofen gel caps (hard to find here, they mostly only have the tablet version).   Over the counter here and just about everywhere in the world.

    They have this GOFEN brand of Ibuprofen gel caps OTC here in Thailand (made by MEGA (I think Indian controlled company)) here in Thailand.  I sometimes buy it myself. Around 100 baht for 10 x 400 mg gel capsules. Not sure if that would be an alternative.

  7. Sorry for bumping up this old thread;

    I am wondering about my chances of getting a Multiple Non-O at the Thai consulate in Penang next month.

    - Have Scandinavian passport and have several visits with "Visa exempt" during the last few years. No Visas for several years.

    - Got warning some time ago when entering DMK airport with my partner and our children, and asked to get a proper visa.

    - Have entered BKK several times since on "Visa exempt", without too much hassle.

    - Can transfer funds into Thai bank account if needed.

    - I am the father of our 2 children, and was planning to bring birth certificates (where my name is on) and "Tambien baan" and passports.

    - Not married (but planning on bringing copy of partners ID-card)

    Appreciate any insight.

    You can get a multiple entry non-o visa if you can show 100k baht in the bank.

    Your previous entry history will have no effect on getting the visa.

    Thanks ubonjoe, that sounds very promising!

    I will report back on the outcome.

  9. whistling.gif The Thai consulate in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh don't want to accept Vietnamese Dong for visas .... not because of any policy of the Vietnamese government, but because the Vietnamese dong is almost unusable outside of Vietnam.

    You will find it very difficult to exchange Vietnamese dong anywhere in Thailand. and Thai baht is basically useless in Vietnam.

    When traveling to Vietnam, always convert your Baht cash into Dollars, Pounds, or Euro before you leave.

    If you have leftover Dong before you leave Vietnam , either spend it or convert it to one of those three currencies.

    If you carry Vietnamese Dong back to Thailand, just throw it away. It's almost impossible to convert it to Baht.

    Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration? Would love to buy Dong at the "right price". I see Superrich is buying and selling them at a quite tight spread.
