  1. Yesterday, I spent time searching for Pimms in many shopping malls, also italasia, but not found at all.

    And the villamarket.. No have

Asked also in Thai website, suggest.. Maybe I can find in the Kingpower, but I not yet check out.

    Umm..will see

    ** thanks for both comments.

    Babycham?

  2. The river area.

Agree. OP not stated you looked for house or condominium.

I see one place. Baan Chaophraya

    http://www.baanchaopraya.com

One time, got to visit friend living there, its nice and calm place but is old building.

No have facilities such as Gym, sauna, restaurant, but have swimming pool.

It is in Thonburi district, but what i like is the condominium has service for tenants to take boat-service across the river from condo's little private pier directly to Sathorn pier to take BTS at Taksin.

Not sure for having farangs or not.

  3. Ummm… I rarely complaint about Thais here, but think and make a lot of complaints in reality.
Live in Thailand and planned no where else, is my own country and I am addicted to Thai food.

Thais, many are disrespect to rules and laws, really amazing.
Enjoy being shit, cheating, corruption with no regret.
Intend to be dumped and being beggar with no shame.
    Lie and lie..

A lot more to complaintssmile.png , but later...

  4. OP, you should move on, a lot of fish in the sea.

Find new interests (and should be useful) to do,
I was same before after broken up with my 11.3 years of relationship with a Thai man.
I packed my bag and went learn Cooking in aboard. At that time, I didn't even know how to cook rice from the rice-cooker!
Made traveling to many places, knew many new different people.

smile.png that was great advantage from being dumped for me.

Now I just made big silly fighting with my husband, he went sleep and I am staying up here.biggrin.png

  5. Ohlala, that's funny....ahaha..biggrin.png

    You mean Maan-rood ม่านรูด

(Curtain-action, when you make the curtain to spread out and in, in this case to hide your car when you go inside the hotel. Ahaha..

how to say... usually people drive the car into and park in front of the room you rent, the curtain will be spreaded out to close, same like closing the door.)

Your will spend time busy with your business inside the room you rent for at least 3 hours, or can be overnight...

I know one in Soi Ruamruedee (but not in person), opposite to a fine dining "Niel Tavern's". I think it is called Ruamruedee Hotel.

One suggestion, you can ask taxi, they know good places.. biggrin.png

  6. Mitch, I feel for you. Makes me laugh all the people who say you should accept the blame for the event because in a moment of weakness you lost it. However, you recognize that, what has happened has happened, no turning back the clock, it is done.

Over the next couple of days, make it a point to give the girl some tasks, important enough to show her (and the others) that you still trust her and in turn she will trust you again. No apologies, just go with the flow.

Forget culture, it is all about respect and trust, if these fail then the culture bit will take over. I for one have been working here long enough to recognize these as the key factors without having to use culture as an excuse for not seeing that something is wrong.

If you need to be, be optimistic about what has happened; you have demonstrated in front of the staff that if you can confront a member of the family like that, what would happen if they screw up.

On a footnote, it would be interesting to see how many people making the suggestion that you immediately fire the girl have had experience of working in Thailand, with Thais, and what their suggestions would be for getting a replacement at short notice for someone in a key position.

Still smiling to myself about that...................rolleyes.gif

Your opinions help calming me down, I been through too many crazy situations from these low-quality staffs for many years.

All the time, working with fatigue, cannot more smile in my workplace.

Everyone just say Jai Yen Yen, but no one advices way to ease the problems.

Essential to have human in work, so I have to be patience.

I am learning to be more diplomatic.

If OP feeled regret for being easy-tempered. No need to be, we Thai bosses, we made a lot more.tongue.png

  7. Yes, today I committed the ultimate sin of losing it with a staff member in front of others. She also happens to be a family member. I know it causes a major loss of face but I didn't expect the following to happen:

I realised I shouldn't have shouted and asked for a quiet chat, partly to apologise and also to explain why I reacted as I did. Not only would she not speak to me, she took a cushion and just held it over her face so we couldn't even see each other!

Anyone else come across a reaction like this?

Your a horrible abusive person. The cushion on the face is the ultimate humiliation

clap2.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif Coming from a 30 year old who admits to physically abusing his girlfriend and living off of his mother, I don't think you are in a position to call the OP a horrible abusive person. I don't believe the OP was humiliated because some childish employee held a cushion to her face. None of the Thais I know would hold a cushion to their face, and they most likely would terminate an employee who did such a thing in their presence. I fully appreciate that one must respect local customs, but it is not customary for anyone with a sense of professionalism to do such a thing. And yes I have lost my temper and dressed down staff previously. Know what, they never stepped out of line again. It's 2014 not 1914. Improper conduct can get people killed. When my friend was out dismantling IEDs in the south, he would tear a strip off people who didn't follow instructions. His life and theirs depended on it. I can't recall him ever telling me the personnel covered their face with a pillow, but he did mention one guy peed in his pants and another one ran home to his mother.

You foreigners really have too much time. It's always a HUGE paragraph of a story of no relevance to anything at all.

Skeetjones, might be you are the best person to fix this problem

You seem the similar kind of person to that cushion-girl.

Young, block-headed, too arrogant w/o anything to be in that stage,

thought you been-there-done-that, thought you're cool

but the truth is you are just a small-world man.

I don't see this is the cultural problem, this happened to me also, though I am similar Thai.

Being farang is just one weaker point that they will never seen you as the same folks.

And if anything happened, especially violence, all people around are ready to take her side,

Just because she is the same folks, and this ruins the work-management, thats it.

I can NEVER understand young people these days. Most of them are dump and lazy.

These not happened to only Thais,

but we have one example here which i have no idea where come from

    Same all every nations, .

Kindly, kindly put your feet into that cushion-girl feet

and tell me why such ridiculous (stupid too) reaction she managed herself for this situation.

That's a lot of anger towards me. Please seek a doctor.

I haven't any anger, just feel really annoyance. (twice time for stu...opinions)

If you are incapable to be constructive, then better get lost.

This would help a lot already, thank you in advance.

  9. for the OP,

    Don't ever make apology....

I think I saw you on the Jeremy Kyle show. Yes?

Make a mistake. Apologize quickly and get on with life. If not see, Bill Clinton impeachment. Richard Nixon resignation. How much to tip maid? See ,New York v. Strauss-Kahn.

    Nope, that wasn't me.

  10. for the OP,

    Don't ever make apology

Call your wife (if she has authority in work) or her parents to make warning to her to stop that immature reaction.

Action = Reaction, acts the same way as her, if she insists playing the game, then play with her, ignorance, work normal.

And we will see who will win this game.

After warning, and she remains being childish, then fire her. MUST DO, especially because she is part of family.

May be time to prove your power of control.

same that one opinion here that, don't invest in the waste thing, in this case is she is waste human resource for your biz.

  11. If you're trying to be serious about growing a successful business, don't crawl with your apology or you'll lose credibility as the boss, velvet glove's OK, but don't forget the iron fist within, just once in front of all, clear the air and move on.

Only give big-face rewards and smiley-boss treatment to the top performers, make sure you fire the bottom-performing 10-20% every year, just to keep fresh blood incoming and keep those in the middle on their toes.

IMO shouldn't mix family at all in the business, not SO's, nor nookie on the side.

Unless it's just an expensive hobby, then do as you like.

Well it is very common in Chinese-Thai companies to have some family members in key positions. It has advantages and disadvantages. But the main reason is trust. Your sister won't cheat you as accounting lady.

Often in Thailand staff doesn't work together, mob each other, building groups until they have a strong boss who is feared......Not my style but I have seen it......

It is common for all Thais, especially when you make little business, work at home,

and Thai wife will bring cousins, daughter of the sisters, son of the brother of the brother..bla..blaa...

let's say the wife's siblings..to come to work altogether..

and this, you as the boss but only one farang at home.... you looked like the boss but in reality you have no power of boss..biggrin.png

IMO, this is unprofessional and I also had this atmosphere before.

    Not more, bah.gif hectic!!

  12. Why only SCB or Kbank? Why not BBL?

BBL is the leading bank in Thailand, definitely their systems are the most up-to-date, especially widely global banking transactions.

I mean BBL may have the most link/ line... such as direct swift code to many banks around the world.

Confuse? My English is not fluent. Sorry.

For instance, I have duty to transfer monthly family's money to a bank in a very small town in Germany,

and I made international money-transferred via my internet-banking every months.

I set it to automatically done, same date in each month, with the transferring fee for only B.300 and EU12 from German bank.

I quite surprised that the bank in Germany is just only small branch, but BBL has the direct line with.

    Very convenience.

For me, Kbank is also convenience, quite similar to BBL, and I feel it is better than SCB in this case.

Especially when you will make business transaction internationally... like open the L/C (Letter of credit)... BBL and Kbank are better than SCB.

I prefer BBL to Kbank, because of the exchange rate, usually BBL gives better rate than Kbank. (in comparison)
But this is only my experience between Thailand and EU continental. Never to Canada.

IMO, best is you go to both Banks and ask for the Bank swift code and the IBAN from your bank in Canada
and compare which is more convenient... for one which has direct line together, then this should be the most cheapest and also most convenience.

Confused?biggrin.png Don't know how to explain more!

If I were you, I would consider

at first from the direct transaction between Thai bank (the branch you can be convenience to go) and IBAN number from bank in Canada

later, considered from the internet transaction I can make via.

Then, planned for the future, if for making also the business which has to transfer or interact more than just the money, which bank is more prompt.

and last, I would consider from the exchange rate.

    My two cents

  13. My wife looks at me funny when I say I want to go to the motorshow to look at cool aftermarket stuff for the truck.

I guess she figures aftermarket stuff = cute girls.

You guessed right and she figured right too, its up to how you expressed your "enthusiasm" when talking about the Motor Show.giggle.gif

I cannot go, not here in BKK during that time, shamed.

  14. I wasn't nice? sounds about right. Two boys now...

Now back on topic, let me guess this car you wanted to buy was one of the following.

    Yaris

    March

    Swift

    Juke

    Am I getting warm?

    Don't think so, giggle.gif

guess I should read more and type less lol

only 30k for front of the line wt 3.2.... a year ago it was 100k. you are doing well.

buy and and advertise it immediately for 1.4 million on here and make some money, negotiated to 1.275 million. minus the 30k and you can profit 100k. do this 11 times and you will have your wt for free.

James, I am sorry, never meant bad about you, I quite fond of you actually. You seems fun person (I mean a lot of humorous in your mind)

Two boys? Can I request for one more girl? must be really, really adorable...

and I can offer myself for being nanny only for the girl. Want myself, but cannot.

For your idea, is interesting.. but speak with my Terrible-47 yourself, I think he will like it!

And please take care of him, my life is already complicated enough.bah.gif

  15. Yes, I am Thai woman... Is ok, no need for apologies... I stated none of gender.

You know what? When you foreigners complain that you were ripping off in Thailand because you are farangs.

Thai like me also got the same..

And you will have no idea how hard my life has been, because I also got this practice, similar

and later I got my farang husband complain to me, just like I am the one who did.sad.png Double punishments. not fun

    Oh... C'est ma vie...

Problem is this premium money, I can understand... but I cannot know why the salesman didn't say it clearly.

And even I checked the truth with his collegues and his chief, he remained lying to me.

This salesman is stupid enough, just said it clear and this would be up to my decision if I would take. I

ts business, he must need profit.

Can you imagine? How about foreigners, some can misunderstand because might thought this is regulation here...

    So here I come warning...

So what is the car you want to buy?

    Wildtrak 3.2, chili orange...

My husband wants, not me.. ridiculous expensive..sad.png

  16. 50% of that was also farang tax.

Don't think too much about it. Just remember that Thais are morally superior to us and better people than us.

Farang tax is just a BS story.

Plus from the OP: "This is Thailand, my country.. corruption everywhere", and from his English, really sounds like the OP is Thai.

she is Thai. I have seen her in the past at TV Bangkok Windup, I mean Pissup. I am surprised with her looks, she didn't get to the front of the line.

(the previous text is merely inserted to help Ms Midori feel better about not getting the Thai price)

James, you are crazy, I have never gone to the Windup or Pissup that you mentioned!

I went to that evening in Landmark, and TV members there were nice, but youbiggrin.png

How have you been? Long time no see.. how is your boy? Must be really sweet same like his mother. ahaha...

    Cheers, TLC
