That goodness for that. Is that for both do you think, or just the the (15days requirement)
-
I saw this on
http://www.pattayacityexpatsclub.com/expats/docs/retirementvisachecklist.pdf
on the second page, number 4.
I also read a bit further down after the 2000 baht. It says and i quote
"
You will need a minimum of 15 days remaining on your permission to stay if applying in Bangkok or a couple days more than that if applying at Chonburi (Pattaya) Immigration to allow for transit time."
This maybe a concern too, because if i turn up on the last day, will they refuse my visa.
I wonder if anyone has, it would be interesting to know, as it means i will have to bring my visa appointment forward 15 days. I will try and make some calls regarding these points to try and clarify things.
In the mean time would be good to here from recent retirement visa people in Bangkok.

I have read this and just wonder if this stamp is required now
"If using your Embassy Letter certifying income, it will need to have a stamp from the Department of Consular Affairs, which is located in Bangkok (this is a new requirement reported as of the end of March 2016"

Very sad and not to be found for such a long time afterwards. Lets hope the culprit can be caught, before he/or she strikes again. My thoughts are with the mans family and friends RIP.

Pop across to Vientiane and the thai consulate there, they will issue you with a double entry tourist visa no problem

Ah thats good NEWS, may take that advice and get everything done and dusted before the 30 days.
Cheers for the help and advice everyone. Many many thanks

Thanks Lite Beer,
I think I will pop down and have a quick chat again with the officer, just to make sure what new paper is actually required, although they gave me 90 days I have to submit the new application next month, leaving 30 days on my current visa, so maybe and I say maybe some of the documents from the Embassy may hopefully not be required. I will ask, as it is an additional cost and half a day taking time to do this.
Some good news today, I did pass this driving exam, and now have 2 five year driving licenses (car and bike) cost of renewing them 1060 Baht.
-
Thanks for that information, another trip more money. But thanks for that can make adjustments to plans, to get this done AGAIN, before hand.
-
Many thanks everyone , so it seems more money needs to be spent!
Hopefully this does not require another trip to my Embassy to get new letters, Or does it?
Well will try and forget about this visa stuff today, as need to try and pass my multiple choice computerized driving test exam. Which I failed yesterday. Some crazy questions in that, thats for sure, and not very well written nor translated into English from Thai, plus those diagrams are very confusing.
Fingers crossed.
Ho Hum,

So it sounds like a further fee maybe required? I have already supplied and submitted all the required documents letters from my Embassy photos, prove of income etc etc, so they have that already, my wife did not sign any statement, just signed her papers id, house book, photos etc. I did not supply a map of my address as they did not ask me for that.
Does this mean I need new documents from my Embassy? (Hope Not as each letter has a fee in excess of 2000 Baht)
Is it worth popping back to ask the officer? or just turn up 30 days prior?
Many thanks everyone who have replied.
Before I was on a Tourist visa as I was divorced from my previous Thai wife in Korat.

This was my first submission of the TM.86 or 87 costing 2000 Baht. So you mean there will be an additional charge of 1900 Baht 30 days prior to my visa running out.
Before I did have an extension for 1 year in Korat, because I was married, they stamped two red stamps one saying my application is under consideration and the the next time I went it said has permission to stay (for 1 year giving the date till), still had to do the 90 day reporting.
Is it worth while driving back to ask them about this, or do I just turn up 30 days before hand with the wife. And see what happens.
Having no clue what additional or new paper work they need is playing on my mind. Thanks for the reply it has been helpful

I have recently applied and submitted all the required documents for my application of a 1 year married visa at the immigration Division 1 office in Chaengwattana, today I went back to see the officer as stated on the blue slip of paper, and received a Non O immigrant visa for 90 days, but still have not received the 1 year visa, a piece of paper was attached below stating you are permited to stay for 90 days, it also states 30 days before this visa expires please present the required new documents to support your application for a 1 year visa.
Has anyone else received this recently? And what happened. What new documents do they require. Or is this a standard thing, not to be concerned or worried about.
As all the immigration officer said here your passport, please read the notice, but did not mention what I have to do next or what new documents if any I need to produce.
Any information regarding this would be helpful.
Or will they issue the 1 year Visa on my return visit? Is it necessary to bring my wife with me on the return trip back to Chaengwattana.

I agree this the member that says Keep Politics and Sports apart. Our rights should be upheld for Peaceful Protests under this should be a basic human right, but the Human Rights Act 1998 and the european convention on human rights do not this a law other than Great Britain and Europe.
And not being familiar with Thai Laws, I would have to stay well clear of any trouble, the risks of Protesters disrupting the Olympic-torch relay and being arrested immediately and prosecuted for public disturbance, and apparently any Foreigners will be expelled and banned from returning and those with residency will have it revoked permanently. Seems a too higher risk for many of us, no matter of our political views!
Most foreigners who are lucky enough to gain residency in the kingdom know how difficult it was from them to be granted such a thing, and the others who don't have to obey the visa rules.
Lets just wait and see what happens.

For all those members who are married and have dogs!!
A dog is truly a man's best friend.
If you don't believe it, just try this experiment.
Put your dog and your wife in the boot of the car for an hour.
When you open the boot, who is really happy to see you?
Think about it
It most if not all cases the dog

They don't make it easy for the ones that wont to stay in the land of smiles. We as a collective spend a fortune every month, I agree that the government should step in and take notice of us long standing farangs over here, especially if we have Thai partners or children with them.
My 1 year ME visa run out 2 months ago, and reading through a-lot of post in many forums about renewing it over here, seems to be a nightmare, like many things here in thailand for farangs.
Please make things easier for US farangs not only on the visa situation but also on farangs owning freehold property and land, that would be my message to the government.
Then life would be sweet.
-
Yes, we are in Thailand!!! I always send the wife in first, that way I get thai prices. Being farang means we pay more, but the reality is it's still cheap compared with back home.
I can agree with both sides, maybe because I have a thai wife, and charges more just because your farang would never be allowed or acceptable in our countries. Living in thailand for six years may have made me too soft.
-
You should have a good life in the land of smiles, although $1000 is not that much, it goes a long way over here, especially if you don't have a thai wife!!
Thai wives can spend that amount in 30 seconds!!
If you get yourself a thai girlfriend keep her away from handbag and shoes shops.
-
Think you need to spend time with each other in Thailand, see how things pan out. Stay at lest 12 months, you can apply for a 12 month ME visa from your home country.
Bring enough money with you to last, don't over spend! If you don't have enough cash, wait until you do, the money you earn in your country will go along way over here.
If after 12 months things don't work out for the pair of you.
Move on, your young enough!

The important thing is to read the post, some have a good marriage while others wont. There are nightmares which many people suffer. It's never easy, sometimes you have to go with the heart and what you truly believe is the best thing for YOU! I have been married to a Thai for over six years, like every marriage it has its ups and downs, but we both truly love one another, and that is something you find out after a long period of time. Don't jump into something, take time to find out bout one another. This applies even if your marrying someone from your own country, it important as marrying a Thai has many complications, often the family members are always put first. You must stay in control, do not every let the her or your family members put you under pressure, it will cause trouble if your not firm with issues that are important to you, she and you must understand one an-others culture.
You can never be thai, she can never be from your culture.
There must be give & take from both of you, never let it be a one way street. When your doing all the giving, and she's doing all the taking!!
If that ever happens get out fast...
Plenty more fish in the sea as they say.
Hope this is of some use to you, and others.
