That was fake news from misinformed Thai ministers. The virus can stay in dead bodies for days. The virus still reproduces even after the patient's death. It reproduces in the cells of the respiratory system. If the virus can survive for a period of time on surfaces, why shouldn't it survive in a dead body? That's common sense.

Please provide the source for your information. As far as i know there is not any evidence to this, and frankly it seems unlikely, so i would like to know how was this tested

Thailand has tested 2,000 per million. Singapore is at 16,000. Australia 17,000. Thailand is in a low end group of testing countries whose results are considered wildly unreliable as result of the low tests.

Everyone agrees that lifting of restrictions requires a wide testing, tracing and quick acting isolation regime. Thailand has, on available evidence, none of those systems in place.

The lifting of restrictions is just going to see a surge in new cases unless the testing regime is massively broadened and improved.

What do you mean "Everyone agrees that lifting restrictions requires wide testing"?

Many normal real people experts do not agree on that and have gone on record to state so.

a lot of the institutions who are pushing for more and longer lockdowns and "wide testing" with this unvalidated test are politically motivated institutions who get funding from specific foundations who are using this crisis to push through some very worrying plans for permanent restrictions of freedom. I would advise everyone to please go and look this up yourself.

I am not an expert in this field, but the below is what i have learned about this.

"improving" the testing regime by testing healthy people is only going to inflate the numbers due to the false positives, and certainly will mean more lockdowns and more restrictions and more economic devastation, where none of that is required. Personally i don't think anything less then the Zombie Apocalypse itself justifies what is currently being done.

It is important to note that this PCR test that is widely used to take these important decisions on, is still unvalidated (last time i checked anyways), and even validated PCR tests have well known issues with false positives which are inherent to this method of testing.

How this PCR test works is that they are not actually testing for the virus itself but they are testing for RNA sequence assumed to be unique to the virus by taking a sample and then greatly amplifying it by cycling it the maximum allowed cycles (45 cycles is the maximum and that is what this test does, after 45 cycles the "background noise" makes it impossible to test at all.  in comparison most PCR tests such as HIV cycle 25-30 times)

Take a look at this fact below, which in my opinion gives food for thought on the false positives:

    - 50% to 80% of test-positive individuals remain symptom-free. Even among the 70 to 79 year old persons about 60% remain symptom-free,  many more show only mild symptoms.

One way of saying it is those people are carrying the disease , because they tested positive for RNA, and are symptom free, yet another way of saying it is that they do not have the virus because they are not sick, they just tested positive for a fragment of RNA.

  3. Stupid me was thinking this 10,000 was on top of the annual salary - not for every single incident. I will never pay a cop ever again from now on, and demand the correct paperwork and pay the fine thru the post.

unfortunately, as far as i know , we cant pay a fine through the post, whenever i had to pay a fine the correct way, it meant leaving passport/license with the police and going to the station to wait in a que to pay and go back to retrieve your license or bike (if you were unlucky enough not to carry a license or id card) a seriously time consuming affair.

this reward for police officers is outrageous, they are the ones demanding the payment, they are the corrupted ones enriching themselves by extorting the people! now this just becomes an even bigger minefield for the civilians, what is the civilian supposed to do now when the police demands payment, and in a double whammy, it is the civilian at risk for an even bigger fine?!?

the reward should have been offered to the civilian who finds a police man demanding a bribe, which is the case 90% of the time that i have been stopped!

  4. another problem with formula milk in thailand is that a lot of the brands (Mead Johnson, Abbott, Nestle) appear to be using GMO ingredients and i heard of stuff like high fructose corn syrup, though i did not confirm that.

Dumex appears to not use GMO ingredients. for the first year i ordered Hipp organic formula milk from Europe, absolutely fantastic milk, but wow , does that get expensive when consumption increases!

My daughter is not taking to the Dumex so well, so i'm looking at what else is available that is of the kind of quality that you would give to a baby ( no gmo's and no crap ingredients like HFCS)

This is worse than what was reported yesterday. Not at all convenient to be carrying your original passport with you everywhere.

Can ThaiVisa check about the requirements for other major cities?

It's actually the LAW in all of Thailand.

Can you direct me to where it is written in the law?

  6. Can the police jail you if they catch you not carrying passport. I had this problem in Shizuoka city, Japan.

So far the penalty quoted is 2000 baht. But it doesn't say how many times in a row they can penalize you. Like you taking every step forwards at 2k/pop until your ATM card runs dry.

It ought to be in the law, whatever law that is. Next time ThaiVisa staff go visit the immigration, please do ask what the actual law governing this is.

And if they can't provide the law that states this, we should all donate towards a court case against immigration for enforcing fantasy laws.

In the case that alien is being apprehended

Overstay less than 1 year forbidden 5 years

Overstay more than 1 years forbidden 10 years

So,,, a 1 day overstay, aren't you technically, "apprehended" by immigrations at the airport?,, You're banned for 5 years?

Evidently, you havent read most of the preceeding 26 posts...

Actually I HAVE read the ENTIRE thread,,, What is, "APPREHENDED"???,.. does it CLEARLY state, apprehended by police? apprehended by immigrations?, on the road?, in the airport?,,, NO.. it CLEARY, ONLY says, "APPREHENDED" PERIOD!,,, it ALSO clearly says,, "OVERSTAY UNDER 1 YEAR",,, Are you AWARE, 1 DAY, is UNDER 1 YEAR!!!!,,,,,,,

if you realy think that is the correct interpretation, then 0 days is also under 1 year, isn't it?

i am on 0 days overstay, oh no that is less then 1 year, i will be deported and banned for 5 years.

as stated many times before, the announcement states in bold big letters on top that the warning applies to aliens who overstayed more then 90 days.

  8. Does seem a bit harsh on those that get apprehended on the way to the airport with say 10 days of overstay and wont be allowed into Thailand for 5 years.

    Warning !

    The aliens who violate The Immigration Act, B.E.2522 by overstaying more than 90 days in the Kingdom of Thailand will be forbidden from re-entering the kingdom for a certain period of time as follow ;

what do you think it says then //

    It says:

In the case that alien is being apprehended: Overstay less than 1 year = forbidden 5 years

... meaning that for 1 day overstay only you could *theoretically* be banned for 5 years if catched.

So robblok is right, even if common sense from Immigration very probably will lead to a not so strong penalty. smile.png

No, you and he are wrong. once again:

    It says:

The aliens who violate The Immigration Act, B.E.2522 by overstaying more than 90 days in the Kingdom of Thailand will be forbidden from re-entering the kingdom for a certain period of time as follow:

Therefor, if you are not an alien who has violated the Immigration Act B.E.2522 by overstaying more then 90 days, whatever follows does simply not apply to you, as this warning is specifically for aliens who have violated the immigration act by overstaying more then 90 days.

It will all be clarified soon i imagine, but really it is clearly written at the top of the announcement who the announcement applies to.

  9. Does seem a bit harsh on those that get apprehended on the way to the airport with say 10 days of overstay and wont be allowed into Thailand for 5 years.

The list of penalties is applicable only to overstayers of more then 90 days.

So it should have read overstay over 90 days - 1 year - forbidden 5 years.

Really, that's nice but it's not what it says is it.

    Warning !

    The aliens who violate The Immigration Act, B.E.2522 by overstaying more than 90 days in the Kingdom of Thailand will be forbidden from re-entering the kingdom for a certain period of time as follow ;

what do you think it says then?, does it say :

    Warning !

    The aliens who violate The Immigration Act, B.E.2522 by overstaying more or less than 90 days in the Kingdom of Thailand will be forbidden from re-entering the kingdom for a certain period of time as follow ;

Read again. The rules make a distinction between reporting yourself at the border or immirgaiton office and being found out as having an overstay during a check.

If you don't report yourself, it is a ban even if it is less than 90 days.

I have read it again, on the top, above the tables, it states ultra clearly that these penalties are for overstays of more then 90 days. this applies to every penalty listed underneath it.

  11. Where are all the Israeli casualties I ask you then?

Have you even see the map of the area say around 1960? And compare it every 5 years to see Israel's expansion into other people's land.

Israel is not the victim, they are the aggressor, the occupier, the nuclear superpower with state of the art military equipment. Palestinians are desperate people who lose their land, their freedom, wealth.

Imagine you being told to leave your home because a group of people is taking it over to make a settlement, as they claim it was promised to them by their God. You would go, because if you resist then you are the terrorist hurting the poor people who are taking your home

  12. If Hamas is the problem here, how come I see 220 Palestinian casualties vs 1 Israeli?

Or how come that in the past 14 years Israel has killed 1400+ Palestinian children?

Israel occupies Palestine land, and they continue to pretend to be the victims whilst their aggression and bloodthirst are sickening to the core

  13. but a minimum wage was introduced only in a very few provinces, I think only 6 of them. The rest of the country is without any minimum wage.

but the ultimate solution to exploitation of work and powerty of employed is not a minimum wage, but a socio-economic system, where human needs of all, and not profit for a few, are the objective. That means ending with capitalism. So far thailand is closer to feudalism than global capitalism

    That means ending with capitalism.

Good idea, let Thailand be just like the communist Chinese who have built Shanghai up to house the millions of feudal peasants.

Communism doesn't work ask Putin and Xi Jinping.

Well capitalism isn't working so well either, we live in a world where the 85 richest own as much as the 3.5 billion poorest.

  14. the good news in the OP is that they will focus more on organic farming... Hopefully they will diversify crops also, I had no idea avocados grow well in Thailand, they're currently imported and i pay a whopping 80 baht a piece!

I did save a seed from an avocado and sure enough, it is growing quite allright...

  15. Nah -- the school lied.

    Sorry, no vegetables?

What a crock it's enough for little ones. A total crock.

Meat, rice, water and one cookie is not a nutritious meal. No way. No how. The school flunked....but I forgot...everyone passes here.

Meat, rice, water and one cookie is not a nutritious meal.

Erm..... Yes it is, very well balanced in protein, carbs, hydration, energy.

I take it you are NOT a nutritionist.

Clearly you are NOT a nutritionist either
