Does anyone know of any venues in Bangkok that will be showing Six Nations Rugby this weekend. I know Setanta have lost the rights and a Qatari company BEin has won them but no idea if any bars are up and running with their satellite yet. Also its (probably) election weekend. Hence my concern. Desperate to watch Wales v Italy at 9.30pm Saturday and would also like to see Ireland v Scotland at 10pm on Sunday on Sunday (and ideally the repeat of the England France game) that kicks off at midnight Sat/Sun. Any ideas. Can't wait to see Wales make it 3 championships in a row!!
The Office Bar Sukhumvit Soi 33 will be showing the 6 Nations live with sound.

Bar Stools
in Phuket
If you want steel bar stools, the best place I've found in Bangkok is Hong Kong Furnishing www.hongfur.com
They will make anything you want.
The best person to speak to is Khun Boonya. Perfect English.

Bob...thanks for the suggestions re Novotel...
I've never been to their bakery, but I've been meaning to try it.. I've seen them advertising some kind of cake buffet from time to time, but never managed to stop by... Now... I'll move them upward on my list!!!
Go there after 6pm any day, most items 50% discount.

Novotel Hotel Sukhumvit Soi 33 has fantastic fruit cake in the bakery. Dark/rich & golden brown, both excellent and not expensive.

I'm not certain if you can buy it in the shops.
You should go and ask Tony the manager at Aussie Bar.
They are the Bundy distributors for Phuket.

Very interesting thing about the Australian Pub & Grill Sukhumvit Soi 11 is not one Aussie owner in the company.
Aussie manager I think.
Oh Well.
-
yeh went there, but they did tell me that they don't make a pizza but order from the yucky pizza company. Then i ordered the chicken steak....... tasted like 5 Stars chicken grilled which you can buy in some stalls.... They do not really make food there.
Very strange you ordered a chicken steak.
It's not on the menu.
-
Sure all food is ordered from outside vendors? I saw a lot of meals coming from upstairs.
Not correct.
Only the pizzas

Mojos has to be the most boring bar down 33.
Always dead. Zero atmosphere.
Now I know why!
Mojo's is packed every night after 10pm.
-
Pizza Company pizzas at inflated prices
So what you're saying is, you won't go to any bar because you can purchase bottled beer for 30 - 35 Baht in any supermarket and the bars sell it for 75 - 150 Baht.
Profit is not a dirty word.

Impossible!
It’s not on till June 24th

In my opinion Rutnin Eye Hospital are fantastic.
Last month I purchased new glasses from Top Charoen, they did the eye test.
When I received the new glasses after a few days I noticed my right eye vision was blurred so I decided to go to Rutnin Eye Hospital for an eye test. (No appointment necessary and very quick)
They tested my eyes with three different machines in three different rooms and then I seen the Optometrist. (Cost 800 Baht)
It turned out I have double vision in the right eye.
They gave me the script at the shop in the lobby area.
I checked the price for the new lenses and they were 6,000 Baht cheaper than Top Cheroen. IE: For the lenses I needed Top Charoen 10,500 Baht Rutnin Eye Hospital 4,500 Baht.
The frames at Rutnin Eye Hospital were far more expensive than Top Charoen.
In round up, buy your frames from Top Charoen or any shop around Bangkok and then head for Rutnin Eye Hospital for the test and purchase the lenses from them.
You won’t go wrong.
Cheers,
Bob
PS: The new lenses are fantastic.

Phuket post.....
Police Superintendent states owner of bar was present at time of arrest and requested charges be laid......
What the f** he was in australia as he states in his radio interview 3aw.com.au who is pulling whos dick here he clearly stated that he was not there and did not press charges. Sorry thai police badly caught out on this one
You may find there is more than one owner. I have met at least two one of which is Steve & I don't think he has a handle bar moustache.
This Steve character seems to be the main stake holder doing all the international press interviews.
Yes correct.
He is in Australia now.

My understanding of the rules concerning foreigners' owning companies in Thailand is that the farang ownership is usually limited to 49%, and Thai investors need to own at least 51%.
I'm guessing the public face of the bar, Steve, was indeed in Australia but may be a minority owner. Perhaps the bar has local/influential Thai 'investors' who were drinking in the bar and spotted/reported what was going on? Like everything else in this thread though, it is purely speculation...
Two Aussie owners.
Steve & Chilla both married to Thais thats the 51%
