I note that the pink shirts rallied yesterday in defiance of the State of Emergency declared by Abhisit...I'm wondering why all the law and order fanatical farangs on here aren't calling for them to be shot by the army as lawbreakers? Perhaps we have a double standard, where it's only members of one side that the law applies to....
Perhaps because the pink demonstrators did not use grenades, rifles, and other war weapons to kill or injure some 300 security force personnel, threaten to burn BKK buildings, threaten the life of government representatives, assassinate military officers, or block a major area of the CBD in BKK for weeks in defiance of the ISA and SOE.
Just a guess mind you.
Why should a law only apply to non reds? Once they are held accountable everyone else should be too. Until then let the pinks show what a real peaceful protest looks like.
I find it amusing that reds scream for the law to be applied to everyone else but refuse to obey it themselves (ie running from the police, taking hostages etc). It seems to me that the reds are above the law so why should any other group have to stick to the law. This is just a preview of what the reds will get if they get into government, and it's of their own making.

Not gonna let that drop are you troll-boy. 99% of the time I get good stuff. 1 time I fuc_k up and you can't let it go. Typical angry internet man. Go get a life.

Most news is poor to be honest, reporters usually lack in-depth on-the-ground knowledge. I usually hear stuff on twitter before it hits the mainstream media though there's the odd occasional bit of crapness like the post above. Mostly it's very very useful though.
Most of what I see on Twitter is crap, frankly. You have to pick through a lot of sh*t to get to the corn on any site where any yoyo with a computer or phone can post "news". It's like anything else on the internet. Lots of good info out there, but the signal to noise is really bad.
I've got my filters set up fairly nicely so not much <deleted> actually gets through to me

Man, someone has really cranked up the music. I'm over by Ari, but I assume I'm hearing Ratchaprasong here. Good lord.
Would you expect anything less in Thailand? My neighbours regularly make dam_n sure I don't sleep with their bloody karaoke!

Sorry just passing stuff on as it comes. I'm not in BKK right now so don't know about weather conditions.
Hey A hole, according to your earlier post you said and I quote " A BOMB JUST WENT OFF IN BKK, i AM ON SUKHUMVIT AND I HEARD IT" now you say you are not in Thailand ??? <deleted> idiot !!!
Why the abuse and why the inability to read? It's a clear quote, from Twitter. Did I say I wasn't in Thailand? No. I said I wasnt in BKK right now. I'm in Thailand. Finally, would you like to consider your language and not post like a 12 year old on 4chan (or a 4 year old on 12 chan.. let's not go there)?

Stupid thing is education's the only thing that can get this country moving forward. It's the ONLY solution long-term to all this crap.

Via Twitter..
A BIG BOMB JUST WENT OFF. I HEARD IT. I'm at SUKHUMVIT.. someone tell me what the heck is happening?

RedPhanFa's blog seems to think an attack will kick off at 4am (12 minutes ago, but this is Thailand, no-one's punctual). Anyone got confirmation either way about tanks being seen etc? http://redphanfa2day.wordpress.com/2010/04...-ratchaprasong/ for those who are interested.
-
Trust me I'm in no hurry. Just checking to find out if it's actually happening. I know it will happen eventually and it has to happen, but with the likely outcome I can't honestly say I want it to happen.

Also nothing from usual sources on Twitter (which has been unerringly useful to me for the first time in its entire existence through this whole redshirt business).

Brain? Brain? Mai mee.
-
Well someone needs to update the site if that's the case, cos there's nothing about it there.

CNN reporting the army have surrounded the red shirts.
If you mean their website I think it's referring to the earlier arrest attempt. Not got CNN on tv so can't comment on that.

Not all RED are real RED. Sometime I wear a RED skirt, sometime a RED blouse (my favourate thong also happens to be RED).
Thank you for your disclosure regarding the colour of your underwear. I'm sure that we are all grateful to have access to such privileged information. You have BTW introduced another facet to this ongoing pantomime viz - SEX. That is hitherto what was lacking in this perilous situation and by spicing the insurrection up several notches have ensured that it will run and run.
I'm still waiting for my previously-requested photographic evidence of the thong!

Btw on the Thai economy debate. Remember much of Thailand's economy never gets measured by the state, after all no bugger pays taxes. Tourism accounts for more than the official figures. Think about how much tourists spend at street vendors, on prostitutes (ok some officially through the bars, but freelancers don't pay tax), crap souvenirs on the beach, wooden frogs, etc. The official figures don't tell the whole story.

Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan voiced his belief that the military is about to stage a coup.
He added the group's core leaders will turn themselves in to the authorities on May 15.
How many times now have they said they'd turn themselves in and failed to do so?
-
PM didn't look too well tonight.
May be stomach bug?
Didn't see it myself, but people saying his body language was off. Power play behind the scenes (mini-coup) and he's not terribly happy about it?
-
Interesting development.. mini-coup of sorts taken place?

Sorry to tell you my friend
You Ferang
Even flee on family pet more important tan you
welcome to Thailand
Have you been eavesdropping on my boss?
-
Personally I think Abhisit may be doing the only sensible thing, getting his family to safety and himself too. I'm not sure the Thai PM's job is something any peaceful person would want. It's now of interest only to those who line their own pockets and the occasional tyrant. Btw for those who are interested, have a look through Wikipedia's list of Prime Ministers of Thailand, it's fascinating reading.
-
Thank you to the kind words, even from some people who I've had disagreements with in the past. I hope for the sake of everyone in Thailand that we can get a peaceful resolution, and that smarter people than any of us find a way to make that happen.

To be fair Arisman may be fat but did you see the state of some of the Thai soldiers? Physical training clearly isn't part of life in the Thai army.

As per previous promises to turn themselves in, they will fail to do so. Just like the yellows and every other colour-coded bandit in Thailand.
