I am getting 2.89 amps from the batteries and 3.45 from the poer supply.

    Hmm getting 0.7v

    At the source 27.6

At the source 27.6 do you mean with no load - not connected to plates

dropping to 0.7 volts on load means your power supply is not powerful enough.

Why  don't you use 2x 12 volt lead acid batteries.

I was able to get both a Thai Car & Thai Motorcycle licence using my UK Driving licence which showed the A & AM endorsement for small motorcycle (<50cc type things).

DLT in Bangkok didn’t know the difference, so it worked for me - experiences may differ of course.

    There’s no harm in trying.

Same here gave me both a Thai Car & Thai Motorcycle licence using my UK Driving licence

You could attempt the online 90 day Non O based on retirement from your area in the UK, gives you lots of time to get organized after arrival for 1 year extensions.....

Do you require insurance for an online application for a  Non O based on retirement?

From the London Thai Embassy -

    • Non-Immigrant Type (Retirement (pensioner aged 50 or above with a state pension who wants to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days) - single entry only)
    •
    • Financial evidence e.g. A copy of pension statement if the applicant is a pensioner, or a copy of 1-month bank statement showing your income from pension, or 3-month bank statement of at least £10,000
    • Confirmation of legal residence in the UK or Ireland. Copy of health insurance that covers COVID-19 related medical expenses, both inpatient and outpatient, no less than 100,000 USD for the whole period of your stay in Thailand.

    Is this Insurance still required?

  4. Insurance only required when applying for e-visa

Non-Immigrant Type O (Visiting or staying with applicant's family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days) - single entry only)

Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand, e.g. a copy of marriage certificate / birth certificate / certificate of adoption

Personal details of a family in Thailand, e.g. ID card, Passport and the visa page or stay permit in Thailand

Proof of accommodation in Thailand e.g. hotel bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand

Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party

Confirmation of legal residence in the UK or Ireland

Non-Immigrant Type O (Retirement (pensioner aged 50 or above with a state pension who wants to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days) - single entry only)

Financial evidence e.g. A copy of pension statement if the applicant is a pensioner, or a copy of 1-month bank statement showing your income from pension, or 3-month bank statement of at least £10,000

Confirmation of legal residence in the UK or Ireland. Copy of health insurance that covers COVID-19 related medical expenses, both inpatient and outpatient, no less than 100,000 USD for the whole period of your stay in Thailand.

  5. A non O-A visa will give you permission to stay for 1 year or until your insurance expires.whichever is earliest. In your case if you arrive in July 2022 you will get permission to stay until  November 2022.

If you want to stay until March 2023 you will have to extend your insurance.

  6. Went to Kalasin Hospital on Monday 10th January for my day 5 PCR test, apparently they don’t issue test certificates or inform you of the test result, they will only contact you if you test positive! I doubt whether they have entered my result on any data base. I feel that I have complied with all the requirements.

I've just arrived and they ask you to scan a QR code that links to a pdf of a big long list of hospitals. Not in every province - for example I saw none in Chiang Rai. Closest seems to a a 3 hr each way trip to Chiang Mai. Best to just pay to get it done locally. However I'm sure the list is expanding daily so I'll check it again in a few days.

I would think that you could use any of the Government listed hospitals -https://service.dmsc.moph.go.th/labscovid19/indexen.php

There are a few listed in Chiang Mai

  8. I would not be surprised if the ATK test was scrapped and replaced with RT-PCR test once again.

Yesterday 2 hotels in Bangkok were advertising ATK packages with and without 1 nights stay. Today those adverts have been removed.

I contacted my hotel, which I have booked for January – reply was Hi,

We are awaiting official government annoucement with regards to this policy.

Currently, there is indication that the decision maybe reverted back to original PCR Test requirement.

    Hi Geisha,

I have been waiting for my visa for 3 weeks now and this is with the thai embassy in the Uk.  As you seem to be having the same issue then i suspect its not because of the embassies in each country but down to some central processing office in Thailand having to approve them all. I had to change my flights from December until January because of the delay.

I applied for my evisa to thai embassy in the Uk on 12th Nov

16th Nov had email requesting more documents

24th Nov had my evisa approved.

9 working days,I thought this was excellent service

  10. If you have done the “sandbox”, I assume you are fully vaccinated, you don’t need a pcr test before flying to London.

Before you travel to England you must:

Book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test – to be taken after arrival in England

complete a passenger locator form – to be completed in the 48 hours before you arrive in England

When you arrive in England – fully vaccinated

After you arrive in England you must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2.

You must book this test before you travel.

  11. If you are fully vaccinated

This is what you need to do if you qualify under the fully vaccinated rules for travel to England. Before you travel to England – fully vaccinated

Before you travel to England you must:

book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test – to be taken after arrival in England

complete a passenger locator form – to be completed in the 48 hours before you arrive in England

You will need to enter your COVID-19 test booking reference number on your passenger locator form. When you arrive in England – fully vaccinated

After you arrive in England you must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2.

You must book this test before you travel.

there is talk that  at the end of October the day 2 test will be changed from a PCR test to a cheaper lateral flow test

other parts of UK have their own rules

Advice about flying - Most flights are still scheduled, and will show on airport departures board, but are cancelled a couple of hours before leaving. So do not trust that. Start to Monitor the online departure boards each day AFTER

Thanks for good advice -checked Khon Kaen departures today and it shows 5 scheduled departures although all domestic flights are suspended for 14 days!

My flight from Suvarnabhumi is on 6th August, waiting to see if domestic flight suspension is extended beyond 14 days. I suspect that it will be extended. I know Thai Smile and Viejet are selling flights from 2nd August, whether these flight will go is another question. Should know early August if domestic flight suspension is extended.

  13. I see that Thai Smile and Thai VietJet Air are offering flights in August, with the worsening covid situation in Thailand I think that these flights will be cancelled.

I have now booked flights to UK on 6th August. I am not going to risk booking a flight from Khon Kaen only to find it cancelled last minute.

Have now had a quote of 4,500 baht, pick from home which is near Kalasin to Suvarnabhumi airport.

  14. Quote

I intend to return to UK at the end of August. This might be even sooner if UK add Thailand to red list on the next review 4th or 5th August.

My problem is that all public transport ( flights buses and trains) from Khon Kaen to Bangkok have been suspended until covid -19 conditions improve, which doesn't look likely soon!

Have contacted a few taxi companies, said they would call back with quote, but never did.

Someone in my village is willing to take me, but with army checks preventing people leaving Bangkok, I worry that he would be would be stopped from returning to his home. Do you think this would happen?

I thought about hiring car at Khon Kaen airport and dropping off at Suvarnabhumi airport but I don't feel confident to do this, never driven in Bangkok.

Can someone recommend a reliable/ reasonable price taxi service. Or any other suggestions.

    Thanks Tim
