  1. because i have cancer and heart problems and cant walk well, and am supposed to avoid stress, and would have to paz 500 baht each way for a taxi, i feel i need to use the g4t service.

could someone tell me when i would have to arrive to use their service and be sure of doing it in the one day?

    thank you.

So sorry to learn of your problems, wrbc.

Have you considered using a reputable, full-service visa agent like Assist Thai Visa http://assistthaivisa.com/ (office in Chiang Mai Land) or O.S. Thai Visa http://www.chiangmaivisaservice.com/ (office on Nimmanhaemin Soi 9)? These well-regarded reputable, full-service visa agents could take care of all your immigration needs, including re-entry permit, 90 day report and of course, your retirement visa extensions. They'd give you a ride from their office to Imm. Prom., take you back and would return your passport to you. They could obtain a wheelchair from the ones that Prom. Mall has near the Rim Ping pick up entrance and bring you into the Imm. office from the parking lot, if you'd like this kind of assistance.

Yes, it's going to be more expensive that G4T, but you'd avoid the expense of a taxi fares and wouldn't have the stress of wondering if the poo is going to hit the patlom again for G4T on the day you decide to go to Imm. like it did for one day after the Bangkok Post letter and they had to lay low because some bigwigs came to inspect the shady visa agent with full run of the Imm. office.

    thank you.

  3. what an interesting topic to me!

i have no friends here in thailand.

i spend my day riding my bicycle 20 to 30 km, stopping take pics of wats and things, editing those pics, then putting them on flickr.

while doing the editing, i listen to old radio programs on internet radio.

i also have 5 books in the go on kindle, now a history of samurai by a real samurai, joseph conrad novel, a thomnas hardy novel, a hong kong detective novel by john burdett, and i'm rereading a book on cosmology by brian greene.

i listen to classical music, also.

but I'm still bored, so glad to see this topic.

  4. i am going to try to mail in on wednesday. do i have to use large envelopes not to fold the photocopies or can i use a regular envelope?

thank you for helping to calm my nerves :-)

I folded mine into 1/3s and put in business correspondence sized envelope. (Don't forget to include a SASE for the return.)

thanks! do we have to sign each photocopy?

You are supposed to sign each copy, I believe. That said, I forgot to on my last mail in and they processed it anyway.

If you send it EMS both ways, it's 37 thb each way for a total of 74 thb.

thanks. i now seem its on the steps. I've gotten myself into a real nervous state over sending it in! :-)

  6. how complicated are the gps thingees to use? I'm not very computer literate, and long complicated operations discourage me. on the other hand, i would be interested in being able to ride more roads without worrying about getting lost. i cycle around wat doi kam area mostly, usually around 30 k or so. thanks for any replies.

  7. where is the shop near airport plaza?

ive moved here, selling my tube equipped vinyl system of high quality and my tube equpped headphone amp and sennheiser 600s and now have nothing but computer and $200 logitech speakers.

i would like to get an amp and over the ear headphones here.

    thanks.

  8. thanks for all the advice! it was very helpful. took a taxi to embassy this morning, got the letter, went to immigration and was told i was a month overdue on reporting, even though id been out of country in january and i have a multiple entry from canada, but got off withe 2000 baht fine. but then couldnt get the extension cuz, after being (politely) fhuffled back and forth between desks several times, i was told that i had a year from january before i had to extend, if i dont leave the country, but will then have to pay the $50 embassy letter again, making this one useless, or i can leave the country before may 23 and then i can use it. im beginning to think i am not smart enough to live in thailand! :-)

  9. this is my first extension of my thai retirement visa and i cant find a list of requred documents except on pataya site, where it says i have to have an original statement from my embassy for my monthly income. is this true in cm? im notw in bkk but expected to return to cm tomorrow. i can put off return if this is necessary. also, will i have trouble completing my renewal by april 23? if not, what, go to jail?

  10. in my case, my condo has nice equipment but i have no idea of how to use the machines or even turn them on.i would pay someone to teach how to use the machines. the work, i can do myself. i rode at least 8000 km every years for over 40 years but in the last few years since coming to thailand, my exercise has fallen off and i have lost a good part of my muscle mass. i dont want to be a he-man, just healthy fit.

i asked at powerhouse gym and it would cost me $300 a month to do this. seems silly when the equipment is just sitting unused at my condo.

  11. earlier this year i took out 12000 baht from the atm machine by tha pae gate. at least that is what my receipt said. but no money came out! when i told the girl at the money change booth of the same bank, she looked stunned, as if she didnt know what to do. i said i want my money. she had me wait for an hour and something on the street while she waited for someone in the bank to call her. when i finally was able to talk to someone on her phone, they said it was not their problem, i should contact my bank back in canada.

huh? not their fault that their atm was charging me but giving me no money?

the short of it was that i contacted my bank and then had to wait for 6 months till it was checked.

    unbelievable.

  12. i know this is not bkk, but if it helps, i got some last year in chiang mai at the university teaching hospital.i take 3000 mg a day. at my last blood test, my reading of bad cholesterol was so low that not only had my doctor never seen a reading so low, he said he had never heard of such a low reading. unfortunately, my body seems to make very little good cholesterol, so the ratio is just ok. good luck on your search. incidently, my daughter in law was unable to find any in bkk, and my son was unable to find any for me in japan. so your search may be hard.
