  2. My beautiful wife, here in Sydney, just got off the phone with her Sister in Surin. Her niece has been stricken with a curse....similar to the one that befell her other niece some years ago. Crying for no reason, sleeping all the time, headaches.

"Take her to the clinic" I said.

"no, doctors will only give pain killers for the headache. She will go to have the curse removed tomorrow"

"bullshi*" said I, " she needs medical help"

This was not accepted at all. There is a black magic practician in the village that has has-it-in for my wife's family.

    Advice?

(sounds like a case of severe depression to me...)

    I am just sooo angry!!!!

    (she is 16 YO)

  3. thanks kokka for the reply . much appreiciated my idea of racing in satuk was a wing and a prahe idea ,your only kidding yourself if you dident think it was either. thanks to the hotel california and he,s best mate tbwg. anyway i won,t give up on the dream. i onhesthly beilieve satuk could host a motor racing cuircet pardon the spelling, that would have many people looking.

  4. One more point....

Local Carriers have inspected our set up and are generally very pleased, but it takes time to decide and also the current situation is not favourable. Each team has to report to its management, function of the expansion plan to decide about the recruitment and training. They have also current contracts to respect before switching to an other training institution: so it takes time....

And also, some opponents / competitors are actively lobbying against us in the Airlines boards; Farangflyer are you one of them? No, because they are not polemical, they use softer methods.

After reading your posts, taking into account some details, you can only be one of the sacked Farang Instructors....

  13. Thanks for the tips, Ball.

We've been doing just that -- knocking on doors and talking with the owners.

    We're learning a lot!

We're still open to recommendations though, from anyone, before we make a decision...

    Thanks again,

    Dear Zap,

Can I ask you who is going to supervise the construction? How will the specifications be agreed? I have found many people who ended up with a house which resembled what they wanted but was far from what they thought they were getting. In nearly all those cases the owner spent little time on sight, and in most the price of corrections was expensive. Building here is as they say, largely "Up to You".

  14. I'm recently holidaying deep in Isaan territory and have experienced many new things.

A wise gentleman, known by forum members as Cuban, alerted me to local customs and conditions, but one thing stuck in my mind.

A staple of the region called Plah Rar.

Plah Rar is a locally prepared fish stock.

Locals place rice, salt and fish (heads, guts and all) into a bucket with water and allow this to ferment for four to eighteen months.

Nothing can prepare you to the smell.

If the locals use infiltered dam, river or lake water the Plah Rar can be contaminated with River Fluke, a parasite which can infect the human body. Improperly fermented Plah Rar can be dangerous to consume for westerners.

What I do is say "No Plah Rar", a phrase which brings much laughter and amusement from the locals, but, apart from protecting myself from parasites, I don't have to use nearly as much tooth paste.

Other firsts for me are ants eggs, fried beetles & bugs, frogs, ox skin, pigs offal and other delicassies, but Plah Rar stands out for me.

Has anyone had experience with Plah Rar?

I personally prefer Green Thai curry myself.
