  1. Not only cars are ridiculously expensive in Thailand, beer, meat, vegetables, education, etc, etc.

It's about time that people wake up about the way that they are extorted by companies selling products at multiple times the reasonable prices.

Life sucks in Europe, for the price of a Captiva we had to settle for a meager Mercedes Benz ????

A can of Chang beer in Lidl in Europe costs the same as in BigC in Thailand.

CP sells sausages at up to 5 times the price of A-brand sausages in Europe, and they own every step from the pig's food to the 7-Eleven or Makro where they sell them and pay minimum wages in Thailand. They are laughing themselves sick over the profits that they make.

  2. The "under consideration" is about 1/3 of a page, the 1 year "extension of stay" is a bit more than half a page and the "re-entry" fits on the same page using just less than half a page.

You can go out and in Thailand 4 times on 1 page if you are lucky and they stamp orderly. Some people make light pencil lines in their passports to help them stamp economically.

Some countries have business passports that have double pages, my NL passport has 66 pages, lasts me about 3 years.

  3. I got many things in easy for years via post, but in recent months I seem to have caught attention and have to pay tax on every parcel.

It can also be that the rules or enforcement of them has been tightened recently.

For bigger things I now buy it in my home country have it delivered there and take it here on my next trip, many things are way cheaper anyway in western countries than in Thailand by now.

  4. We regularly get other peoples mail, including credit card statements and packages, even if the address is written right and even when the whole address is written in Thai.

So I presume we will also be missing out on some mail addressed to us, but how to know if you didn't send it yourself?

If it's a little bit difficult the postman just drops it somewhere and comes back with an empty bag, problem solved and who's ever gonna hold him responsible?

  5. If you want BKK as a hub to travel to other Asian countries, you may want to check the rates compared to KL and Singapore. I'm flying a lot in Asia and Oz and it's often attractive to fly to KL or Singapore first and do the trip from there. Singapore is not cheap to stay, but KL is very similar to BKK with cheaper beer and a better variety of street and foodcourt food.
