  1. I'm a big fan of Tik Tok Thai and the promotions they offer.

However, they do appear to be dodging their way around the monthly prizes that are said to be offered.

There is supposed to draw each month for everyone who buys a voucher offering a first prize of 3,000 bt followed by 2 runner up prizes of 1,000 bt.

The draw for February was supposed to of taken place on March 5th, but there is still no news of the winners and we're almost into April!!!

Come on Tik Tok Thai, We love your website and offers, so honour your promises please.

  3. Nimmanhaeminda Road and the surrounding area is nice. Not too far from the Kad Suan Kaew Shopping Complex either.

I just found this apartment on Mr Roomfinder check out the website to give you an idea of what else is available.

I think it's possible to rent a bike for about 2,000 a month. I have a feeling this is what a friend of mine was paying but can't be 100% sure (I always had my own bike).

Fishing is not my thing, but I did often go to a lake just out of the City, called Huay Tung Tao

Again, I can't be 100% sure, but I think you are allowed to fish there.

There's some photos in the link to give you some idea what it's like.

  4. My wife done the UKBA approved EET (Elementry English Test) with Language Solutions Ltd They do the test once a month (at the end of the month) in Bangkok. The test for March is this Saturday!!!

They run their tests from The Connecion which is right at Lat Phrao MRT Station.

If you'd like to get your Mrs in for tomorrow's test, then call James Beere on 0844348080

    I recommend these guys.

There's more about my, and other peoples experiences with other tests in this thread:

There is also a list of some of the other UKBA approved testers here :

  5. I'd update the wait times but would rather wait until catman and kwon post their results. Busy busy over here, sorry!

Seems like the waiting times are going down rather than like up like they have historically? Wonder why that is? I thought there would be more apps now...?

I have posted my result LM09

The Man/Woman from BRITISH EMBASSY, He/She say YES!!! 4 weeks exactly (got text & passport back on 22/03/2011)

  6. We also got the text today, exactly 4 weeks after submitting all our documents!!

Id like to thank all on this forum for all your help and advice (especially 7by7), and I will continue posting as much as possible in the hope that I can help others going through the process.

Good Luck to Kwon, I'll look forward to logging in and reading of your successful application on the 1st!!

  7. We used two vouchers yesterday at T&S and staggered out absolutely stuffed several hours later, and we still had about 200 baht left.

I've never yet bought one of these certificates, so I can't speak from direct personal experience...

But the standard conditions listed on the TTT web site includes the following:

Credit for unused portions of a voucher will not be given; voucher must be used in its entirety at one time.

So I'm wondering if that means you've now lost the 200 baht unused valued from your certificates.

    JFC, Yes, you are correct.

I don't actually think Colin was making out that he still had 200bt credit to use another time, but instead was just enthasising the value of the deal.

That's how I read it to be anyway.

  8. On the back of each pack, in very small print, there is text in Thai, there somewhere you'll see a number....I'd guess you want 52 to 54!!

The one's I (used to) get, were 53 and were in a black box with a 'moon' kind of image on it with lightening going around it.

If you go to this link and click on the 3rd tab at the bottom it will take you into the 'Durex shop'.

From here you can click on the boxes and at least get an understanding of where to look on the box for the sizing, saving time and embarrassment at 7/11 wub.gif

  9. This is the first time I have used TikTokThai. The purchase procedure was clear and straightforward and I had no trouble printing out the vouchers. We used two vouchers yesterday at T&S and staggered out absolutely stuffed several hours later, and we still had about 200 baht left. There were no quibbles at all with using the vouchers - I think that is a first in my experience of attempting to use discount coupons in Thailand!

Mind you, I'm not sure about the name - when we arrived at T&S and told the waitress we had some coupons, she asked if they were from Ting Tong Thai!

P.S. Just remembered, I should be fair to Tops supermarket, their discount coupon redemption always works perfectly too.

I purchased 4 of these for myself and a group of friends. Glad to hear your experience was good as we've not been yet....can't wait!! licklips.giflicklips.gif

  10. I had lunch there several weeks ago. I had ribs which were okay but I thought the meat was a bit old. Also had quesadillas which were again okay but I probably won't order again. They had promo coupons good for 50% off on the set lunches (up to 4 people) if you want to try it at reduced rates. Jan 07 Chili magazine had the coupons.

Haven't tried the dinner there but plan to do so in the next few weeks. I will probably try their steak at that time.

When I was in California recently, I tried a place called "Texas Roadhouse". It is a franchise (I think) out of Indiana (!!) and serves ribs and steaks. It was excellent with steaks starting around $20. I sure wouldn't mind seeing one of them over here.

    :o

Just giving this thread a bit of a bump as I notice one of Thai visa's sponsors, Tik Tok Thai, have an offer on with Roadhouse BBK.

    Anyone been here recently??

Just wondering what it's like now as the previous posts are somewhat outdated.

  11. Go on line and make an appointmentto submit your visa application it is essayer,

You can submit you application online, but booking an appointment online (to submit all your documents) is not an option at the mo, the system is down.

On finding this out I then called them, but was told to just turn up at Regent House and wait, this was only last week.

  12. There's a cheap hotel that I used to use called Watana Mansion in Ratchadapisek Soi 17. Nothing special, but I always found it to be OK.

It's a short walk to Suthisarn MRT (5 mins) and it's only 3 stops from Fortune (Phra Ram 9)

The link for the Hotel is here

The reception here is open 24 hours, so checking in at 4am is no problem.

They have internet in the lobby, but I'm not sure about wi-fi in the rooms, sorry.

  13. My (then) girlfriend (now wife) came back to the UK with me last May, and I done exactly as you mentioned.

Went through the UK passport line, then stood around the back of the immigration officers area on the other side waiting for my girlfriend.

My girlfriend was asked 1 or 2 questions, then was asked 'where is your boyfriend/sponsor' my girlfriend then pointed me out and I came forward from behind the desk.

Luckily the immigration officer was very nice, but she did say that next time I ought to wait and go through with my girlfriend (in the visitor's line)

  14. Thanks for your advice.

My wife is adament that we should go to the MFA to stamp the marriage certificates for our visa because the guy at Amphur "said so".

If i just include the marriage certificate and the paper that comes with it and the 2 translations to English all be ok yes for our settlement visa?

Its been best part of 4 days running around pulling tickets out of machines so could really do with 1 less visit to the MFA. Stresfull mak mak!

    Kind Regards

Yes, the original marriage certificate and the translated version (+ the witness forms you mentioned) will be fine, but like I said, it may be worthwhile having the translated copy legalized before you go to the UK (cheaper & easier to do here in Thailand).

There is confirmation that the documents DO NOT have to be legalized at the MFA here :

You must include the original documents and a photocopy of each document you choose to submit. Please ensure that the photocopies are good quality and can be easily read. You will also need to provide a translation of any supporting documents which are not in English, or your application may be refused. Each translated document must:

    • be dated;
    • include the translator's name and signature; and
    • include confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original document.
