  1. There is a house down the Ghost Road for sale at 5.5 mil and has been since at least late 2004, 2 beds and toilets and quite nice build, kitchen and furniture with 800sqm land..why is is still for sale???..so 8 mil out in the jungle somewhere hardly represents good value. Is there actually a Thai market in Samui and if so what and where are they purchasing?.Long gone are the days of Johnny Foreigner with shedloads of cheap orrowed cash gone, so who would want to purchase this???.....And when it comes to agents, I had them value one of mine last year and he said 9.5 mil because it was near the beach and location, I knew that was way overpriced and sold privatly to a Thai at a shade short of 7 mil without any problems...although that was Cha am and not Samui. I could imagine it still being on the agents books now at 9.5 mil as it just wasnt worth that.

Well i think i know that anwser.

Here in Lamai, there is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house for sale since over well a year. Got the 3 phase electricity, invested tons of cash to get it to eurpean standards EVEN DRINKABLE TAPWATER.

The house goes for 7,5million (house cost was over 12 to get it all DONE). Chanode title the works..

It is of my parents in a divorce blabla you can find it in the classifieds...

Thing is ppl here i noticed find it to expensive because the can find houses for 3,4 million baht. True the market sucks ASS at the moment. There is so many choices and why the hel_l would you invest a 7,5 million in a house. While you can buy or even build a brand new one on a nice parcel of land.

Thing is Samui, is build up to the NECK full now, land wont be eternally available here on the island. Specially not for the lowprices as it is now, i mean on mainland you buy what? 13rai for perhaps half million baht here its allready pretty expensive.

You get what you pay for. I think the best wayto go for houseowners, setup a simple website en RENT it out. This way you have some cash in the pocket every month, with the option open to sell it offcourse at the estates/friends./the works.

The screwed up thing is here, ITS THAILAND the all want a piece of that cake ($$).

My point is ppl that complain and find houses overpriced here please go back to whatever cave you came from. I know and im full aware of the fact MANY ARE INDEED WAY OVERDONE in price. But ppl forget its a ASKING price the can ALWAYS talk it over to get a better price.

I dont need a huge house here, i more outside then inside. But some ppl preffer to sit there in there wonderfull villa to witch a house gets a hel_l of allot more importance all of sudden.

I think still ppl complain to much about prices, unless you really OWN a house here on samui i think most owners will agree on that. Then you actually know what kind of costs it HAS been to get that house to its current status (given fact not all are worth a look)

I know a guy here that rents houses for like 30 years or so and uses them a bungalows. He rents a nice villa for say 50k bath per month he rents it out to farangs for like 50k a WEEK or even few days. I mean there many ways if you make time for it to get some cash back for your cash until a buyer comes.

Just put in the effort to do so ...

Its just my opinion on things, im sure some will hate it so be it wont sleep less over it.

  2. Has anyone here had experience with receiving packages via FedEx here? Are they reliable? Any horror stories or praises?

    Its horrible :D

The fedex here moved (there now next to, the Samui estate)

Iv'e send 2 packages one of them atleast 3 months ago to Amsterdam. Still the package did not reach mainland. The send me and the reciever a very bad english (not nearly understandable) letter that the boat broke down.

That was atleast 1 month ago. So i went to there office to find out what is going on. The ASSURED me that everything was allright witht the package. And that the would have to send the papers to the receiver of the package.

3 weeks laters, i go there again. The first thing the said "AHHH problems Bangkok, no papers" im like 3 weeks ago the should have been send allready BEFORE this crap started you said so :wai:

Still no package received, by boat takes according to them about 17 days, downtime fo 2 weeks add that. Now for OVER 3 months still nothing..

Then there is the second package 1 1/2 month ago send to Hamburg, germany (worth approx 75000baht) still not arrived. And offcourse the same procedure the follow, keeping me on a leech :D

This is the last week im tired of it, im in the middle of a relocation if my shop. I want to stop worrying about all this. I will file to the right Fed-ex head office(s) a complaint and i want to know were those ships are. It is taking way to long 2 months ok, papers not in order ok shit happens. But that should not be my shit to scoop up :D

I paid enough to get that done, now everytime I HAVE to go there in order to GET information. The promised me to send me e-mails ectra the don't :D

My advise, stay away from them, properly for in thailand like bangkok ectra sending stuff will be just fine. Outside it, never ever again :o

  3. I have an internet business in Thailand, run via a registered company with 24 staff (6 full time in the office). I admit, the main reason is to get my Visa and work permit.

    Good luck :D

OK, so let me get this right. You registered a company employing 24 staff for the sole purpose of getting a visa & work permit ?

I have seen people go to some lengths to get a visa & work permit but this seems too hard to believe....

You sound like one of those farangs who always come to my office looking for a job. I ask them "For what purpose are you seeing employment for ?" Where I nearly always get the reply "So I can get a visa & work permit and stay in Thailand !" :o

What i dont get is..workpermit and visa is easy to obtain. Just setup a dorment company, then apply for workpermit, The cost diddly, chanode landowners have it to. Tax wil be around 10 to 12000baht per year on tax...

And the visa just not true official ways its bullocks. There many thai that do it for a fair price..and yes lads. Some say its dangerous, yet again bullocks,we have lfet many times to my own country the just get stamped no problems with it. The get fixed in munich, and all that without even leaving thailand :D

Its not so hard to obtain a visa. Investing like the gentlemen did " for owwell just visa and workpermit" My best guess is you got to much cash in the pocket. Or else you would think, before you would do that

  4. For us Brits 13 pounds used to buy you 1,000 Baht, now the same 1,000 baht cost us 17 pounds, thats a mighty big difference !!

This is going to force a lot of retirees out of LOS, or put many who thought they could retire here off.

Unless they want to lose the income from the British Ex-pats they are really gonna have to do some kind of re-think on this.

Everyone that I know (myself included) are taking really big hits on their savings offshore...and it could get a lot lot worse IMHO

Some that retired here early will have no choice but to go back and replensih their funds by working, so thats a lot of baht they won't be spending here anytime soon.

I know that indeed, the usd and the pounds are worth diddely atm.

The euro is the only pretty stable coin you can have atm.

On the otherhand, ive read it true a bit. Im not a banker, and i find it kindah humor. That there ppl here managing to talk like a banker or account while the live in a poor country like Thailand. Giving a piece of there mind (Like the guy that goes beserk here bullocks ectra move out of here to Laos)

Then go...or better yet go back to were you came from. You will be of WORSE...or else you would not even choose to live here to begin with. In my country i can make barely a living for myself with the taxes i pay there. Im happy were i am, you all should do the samething instead of bugging youreself with this crap.

Then you all should have stay in youre country were the economy is ALLOT worse perspective wise, then here ! Were here to benefit from the "freedom" we have here and easy living that most of us don't have in there own country.

So shutup,...eat you pad thai, drink you mei kong cheapass whiskey. And enjoy the rest of youre life.. :o

  5. A friend of mine runs a bar on the beach in Chaweng they want to start doing food but don't want the hassle of doing it themselves so they are looking for someone to come and take care of that side of things.

Food can be Thai/Farang, seafood etc, they are pretty open to suggestions.

If anyone is interested or wants to know more please PM me.

The person will not be an employee but rather running a seperate business side by side.

Ah so with other words, a lazy farang with enough cash to get a bar at chaweng. Thats not cheap lets face it i got a shop and control over 6 houses in Lamai. So i can say its not cheap AT ALL even in Chaweng to have...

If there open for suggestions, close the joint sell it. Nobody will work there, certainly NOT a european for just 5 to 10000baht a month or he/she must be desperate. Put a thai in there and well you know its gonna be f#cked up in notime.

Sell..get the cash...dont ever consider a business again iff youre to lazy to run one! imho!

Far too fishy for anyone with a brain. I still believe that anyone who believes he/she can make money would do it him/herself.

Trust me, I know what I am talking about. :o

Same here, and the fun part run a own company side by side, so whats the catch here? Youre lazy friend is not willing to pay for the workingpermit needed thats point one. He wants someone thats runs a own compay side by side, so what was he planning to pay the one thats gonna do this supposely?

And i agree with this posting, making cash in thailand is allready a hard job unless you like some farangs i know (that own like 2 restaurants that lay on there ass now low season) but the have enough cash from there country coming, in to survive it all. Thats what i DON' T call a business but a hobby!

So whats the deal, suppose that someone say ok i open up a company and run it side by side, that means that person is investing. Because yah offcourse youre friend wants a he or she that opens up a company. This way he doesnt have to pay for the workingpermit...

Whats the salary? As i said under a 10000baht you can forget that, or there has to be someone (example given) that has chanode land title and so a dorment company. The may run bars,hotels,sell/buy land/ ectra. But i doubt if you will find someone with that kind of papers that is still willing to get a workingpermit for this.

I wish you the best of luck, and i stay with my opinion. Why even begin a business while you know youre to lazy to even do something with it yourself.

I have a internetshop, that now starts (weird i know low season ahah) to run a bit were making name true others. And today we start on 6 houses that we rent out (3 are allready spoken for) . No wont get rich from it, but yes its a living with as less as possible. I work my ass off to get it done, i really hope that youre friend knows what he is doing.

Per day bars, and grill/restaurants emerge out of nothing in thailand. The competition is hard, and its totally not easy to come in between all that. Unless you have a somewhat unique thing that defines you as for what you do. So i really hope without the wisecrack remarks, that youre friend will have a blooming business in no time.

Some guy here said its bad time to start a business...i disagree totally on that one. Once high season hits Thailand, youre business will be ready and operational. The kiddy deceases are out of it for a big part, i found it more dumb to start when high season hits you in the face, this way you loose valuable time and Bahts that will not be paid. Because half youre bar is still not stocked (just a example)

Just make sure that you can survive these months, and overthink the situation, look further then youre nose is long. Because its not easy and you will see youre bankaccount drain mayorly before something will get back into it.

    Goodluck regards,bonjouro,aufwiedersien,Sawadee khap,tot ziens Michel :D

  7. Encourged to see the ag minister has the livestock count down to 2.7 million. wonder how many voters and family are affected by all of this? OK maybe I am being too cynical.

Not at all sir , the populace is readily replaceable by the prolific Farang who are inundating our honorable country with their filthy money and Western attitudes , well , the animals are another problem , they are similar to the Thai male , slow producers of most things essential , SSSSSSSHHHHHHHH , please do not tell any one i said that , hate to be rerprimanded by the intelligentisimo on the forum , you know , those with the better than thou attitude , hurump .

You just escape with Jack (Nicholson "one flew over the cuckoo's nest") ??? People are dying and you post such absolute drivel. It's no wonder that Thai's have such a dislike for people of your ilk. :o

You actualy believe in the confines of your tiny mind that to make a suggestion of a way to actualy help people instead of denigrating them is a load of drivel ? I was loved and appreciated by Thais in a northern village where i achieved on a smaller scale what i consider to be a worthwhile project , at the cost of my personal donation .

Please read my other post before you blatantly condem .

johnbgood , what pray tell me have you personaly achieved for the good of the Thai people

The post you responded to is a reflection of what previous posters on this forum have said or infered , also somewhat in line to the post i responded to , "Maybe i am being too cynical " , please lighten up and enjoy the vagaries of life a little .

Yes you was loved there and blablaisme indeed. The only thing that makes you loved is youre so called donation. Thats something everybodies tiny mind here can accept as a fact.

Don't flatter youreself so much with you so called intellect. Ive heard to so called old farts here telling me the same story over and over again. Like a war veteran the tell you how many thai friends the have and how much the spend in thailand.

Cash is friends, true friends is RARE..goes for every country.Speaking of intellect do something about that amazing spelling of yours :S

Not that mine is all that tho, but yet again you will not see me putting a feather up my ass, about my intellect.

And to stick ontopic, rain is coming, it's sad that ppl gave there live..nothing more to say about that actually. :D

  8. What is with these long blackouts?? :D Last Thursday an hour in the a.m. then over 3 ours in the late afternoon and now, today, out since about 3:30 p.m. and still out....not that I want to sound like I am "complaining" or being "negative" about Samui :o

This night samething again :D We (my american gf and me) live in Lamai. We own a inetshop, luckly for us its around midnight that this occurs. But still its pretty annoying :D

  9. Kindah funny, i left my own country because of there political point of view.

And here farangs are talking about what is happening here in Thailand. To tell you the truth i dont care to much what happens in the world :o

It happens anyway, it's sad tho what happens, but i got other fish to fry, mainly me own :D

Although yet again a blackout this night on Koh Samui

  10. First of all READ..i did not say the bigbike was NEW.

As it seems it escaped your attention my comment was "as we are now talkign about" meaning "as the discussion has grown from the OP".. You seem unwilling to pick up in simple statements.

You got a point, there is nothing new to what you say AT all..but do you honostly believe..that a GOOD WELL KNOWN dealer on the ISLAND. I dont even have to give you the name because its know here for a longtime, were a american FARANG is involved with, and GOOD running...that he will give you bunch of bogus papers?

Yes there properly grey..so what! do you really think you get in trouble over it? I talked to renters here, i said why you ask passports? i mean not drivers license if the get a accident and all. The laughed, yah so what ahaha...no prob all good.

I got hit by a pickup while i was walking ! do you think the stop nope...do you think a cop comes towards you when you had youre accident oww youre papers are crap? My brother was involved 3 times *i know idiot* BIG accident here, not license no nothing...no probs or what so ever. Cost him the hospital bill for himself thats all even tho the pickup he rammed was dented..the just drive on the dont give a crap.

Money is not the only thing that gives you power, knowing the right ppl to ! I dont even have to tell you this at all. You seem scared of it even in youre "statement" the 800k ducatti ectra, dont even think the bother or KNOW the value of youre bike man! to take away youre bike ! such a nonses the got better things to do as is ticking you for wearing no helmet. Unless offcourse youre able to piss them really off...ehehe seen that happen to :o

Then the start diggin, even if you have good papers the will screw you over. It happen to someone i know lost his passport, visa in it ectra. He went to Bangkok, he had to pay 20000baht overstay. The conveniantly could not find his visa in the computer. Was it a fake one NO!! I crossed borders many times with my its all legit. Yo get screwed on everything if the get the chance nothing new !

  11. As we are now discussing big bikes and not scooters.. Please tell me which honda dealer that you use sells new big bikes ?? Where can I get a 600 hornet or anything more than a joke phantom type thing.

This is where the green book nightmare begins. In the big bike world as I said above. The big bike systems doesnt have much of a dealer system. We do now have Triumph and Yamaha are trying also in the market, BMW has some presence (tho our dealer keeps vanishing then reappearing etc).

Green books on new bikes are not the problem.. But if you think a green book on a harley, or a buell, or a bandit, or a hornet, or, or, or, means its sure to be legal and you can sleep peacefully your joking. The whole market of big bikes is flooded with this grey book problem so if you want a bike thats in that market living with some uncertainty is just a reality. No ones going to be worried about some 80k faux chopper, its the 800k ducati or a million baht on a MV Agusta Brutale or some other exotic.

So what big bike have you bought new from the dealer ??

EDIT:: I just see your the OP of the thread so have bought a Phantom new.. Theres almost no green book risk with a phantom (or boss or other low cc bikes) and none at all when bought from a dealer new. My point was just that its nothing to do with stuff the farang can 'check for himself' when it comes to big bikes there is always some risk, just follow the threads about siam racing, xtremebikes, etc etc etc. With any imported bike theres a green book risk, even if you hold a book, and all the numbers match, it doesnt mean you have no risk. Once you realize there is always some risk then its just a 'shades of grey' set of choices, the less grey the choice the higher the costs usually.

First of all READ..i did not say the bigbike was NEW.

If a phantom is a joke, then many farangs and thai ppl would be ver unhappy at the moment. The only joke i see is that a farang like you did not look further into this then youre nose is long :o I hear allot of sorry to say so fellas BS stories, that went from one farang to another.

We bought 5 bikes here, and 1 Bigbike all with greenbooks. Indeed the bigbike is a secondhand, and indeed we did oure homework..happens to be that the dealer is like many thai do. In business with a farang, that takes good care of THERE business. Were not talking about a local bikershop in the middle of no were may i add.

The papers checked out..we had to goto immigration to proof that we live here ectraectra.

So sorry sure, buy youreself a shit fly pair of speedo glasses you will need them on that Hornet of yours. I love my joke of a phantom and im dam_n proud if it to have one. It beats every rice rocket youre driving on to do youre small things with..i got for comfort. If i wanted speed i would have bought the yamaha r1 or a busa.

Its the tone that makes the music farang...and your music sucks so far. Sorry to say this so cruel but thats me direct.

  12. I am selling my ultra luxurious, masterpiece six star house/villa in Chiang Mai, Thailand and I am offering YOU the chance to earn a massive finder's fee! Find me a buyer and I will give you between 3-6% commission on the final sale price. This means you will get no less than 500,000 Baht finder's fee at the lowest price sold. If you sell the house at the full asking price of 23 million Baht, you will get a 1,380,000 Baht finder's fee. The higher the final sale price, the fatter your finder's fee... Interested?? All you have to do is find me a buyer.

Photos, price and details can be found on www.freewebs.com/sixstarhouse, along with my contact details.

    - You are welcome to market this from wherever you are and however you want to, i.e. do marketing in your home countries and worldwide including Thailand. If you're American, advertise in America, English in England, Swedish in Sweden etc... place ads on the internet, in newspapers, magazines, real estate websites, call your rich friends if you have any! :D If you spend the time marketing the house and are successful, you will earn a very handsome reward for your efforts.

    - You can use the link (www.freewebs.com/sixstarhouse) to advertise to prospective buyers. All information is available on this website for buyers to see including photos of the property and contents list.

    So, here's a run down;

Final sale price under 18 million baht = minimum 500,000 baht for you

Final sale price 18 million baht = 700,000 baht for you

Final sale price 23 million baht = 1,380,000 baht for you

See the website to know more about the 3 different price ranges.

Please PM me if you have any questions after looking at the website.

GOOD LUCK and happy marketing! :D

Ive read the advertisement with great care. I dont want to be rude and i want to stay in the rules. Its indeed a free market (for moderator comment) but its also a free forum. And i think (IMHO) ppl can and MAY discuss this in a normal tone as long its relevant to the seller.

First of all its a amazing looking house, over here we bought a house for 5,7 invested 2 million to get 3 phase power, all airconditioned and all the beauty on teakwood furniture ectraecta. Its worth easy that cash to good location freestanding uphill. Land is owned by us (offcourse true a company, afterall farang)

Although iff we would get 10million for it you just got to find the right buyer who really is looking for it. I think iff youre asking 23 million, you will never ever sell it for that amount of money.

You can buy land (under a company name) and build youre own dreamhouse of that cash. And live the rest of youre live without worries to for sure. I wish you best of luck selling this house...its way to much although is a beauty. But trust me drive around a bit, there similar houses for sale with a better deal on the price then this.

7lcd tvs, and the antiques...nobody cares about that. Ppl want big houses for low prices. And thats the thing here. Thailand offers that like pad thais, you can buy a decent house for even a fraction of that cash. Never to mention location..

I wish you best of luck i really mean that, and i hope that youre not selling (like very common in thailand) because you ran out of cash. Because i would not hold my breath on it for a succesfull sale anytime soon now. :o

  13. First of all, i want to thank this forum (and so there members) that helped me out making this decision. To buy the Honda Phantom, instead of the Tiger 150.

Honda service, very good yet slow...the waiting begins, thaistyle !

Rrrrring....rrrring..sawadee crab, sorry sir, youre bike is not here yet takes 2 more weeks.

Klik, i hangup the phone. Pretty annoited but yet calm, my girlfriend looks at me "mmm i know not there yet right ?" Indeed, 2 more weeks driving around with a crappy Mio (that run 26000km) babe im sorry it doesnt do you good i know.

Offcourse woman are forgiving, she knows i was so waiting for the bike the said 2 weeks. Well i should have known, 4 weeks later. I got home from work, i see my bike arriving! My father picked it up allready and offcourse he gave me his humble opinion as expierenced motorcycler.

It drives like a dream, specially seen the fact it a lightbike. It shift very smooth, and got enough power to lift me up the hill with my 115kg of weight. Pretty impressive for that price, iff i known this i would not even bought the 130cc kawasaki.

Although there always downsides to bikes doesnt matter witch one you drive. The suspension is pretty hard/sturdy in the back. Could be that is will loosen up a bit its after all new, the bike itself consist of a 6 gearbox. I personally dont like that specially here you keep on shifting (used to drive kawasaki vulcan 1500cc 4 gear). But you will get used to that after a while.

    My first motorcycle, lesson...shifting

After a short intake conversation about handling the bike, we both took a drive just to feel the bike handle in the road. On the back i hear him screaming in front of me "ok, now you see car infront of us slow down, clutch en shift down one gear at the time. Listen to the engine! iff it sounds heavy, shift down. Overtake the car like so (gear went down and a loud roar and were passed it) "

I felt a vibe going true my body, little bit nerves offcourse. Lets face it never driven anyting heavier then a 180cc automatic 2 stroke motorbike (in my own country). Well after the short but yet powerfull lesson.

So at home again, he got off and made sure that he was sitting in the sala infront of oure house. "OK, now get youre ass on it, remember gas, clutch gently loosen it until you feel traction"

Its pretty scaring at first, because you have no idea what youre doing. So offcourse the first two times it was PRRRRR....POM...restart...prrrr POM..restart. I found myself getting even more nervous when that occured. To make this story about my lesson to drive this thing short. Within 10 minutes i driven to winners without even on time stalling. :D

Easy to handle and great for beginners to learn!

After that i driven allot, just to get use to what i can and CAN'T do with the bike. Its a wonderfull bike to learn on. And so easy to drive with! Shifting goes smooth, sometimes i screwup a gear but can anticipate it very fast and with great ease to keep me concetrated on the road. I can say its very easy to drive this bike. Within really no joke 10 minutes you get the hang of it, within a few days you get more convident and there for youre skills improve!

    Tips for beginners (like me)

    * Stay calm, even iff you stall (happens to even veteran motorcylers from time to time) stay calm very important. The more you get worked up, the more mistakes you make in a row.

    * Listen to the engine, what i do is every 10 km or so i shift, (E.g. 60km 6 gear, drops to 50 shift down ectra) i find it pretty conviniant for myself. Because you cannot hear youre engine purr all the time with the noise around you.

    * Drive relax, dont act tought because of friends or ppl that might look at you. I seen that happen to here keep to youreself. More important and when you shift for godsake dont look at the kmph meter. Keep eyes on traffic. Try to do as much as you can from day one on pure feeling. The better it will go en the better you will drive (imho)

The looks are fantastic, so is the preformance, and so are the extras you can get for it!

The looks of the phantom, is all that there is to it . You dont have the idea youre on a little plastic feel bike. Its a impressive machine, with a small engine 200cc that does precisely what it needs to do. Its no speeddemon on the road, i find 80kmph a good cruising speed for the phantom. But a quick powerboost to 100 a 110kmph is not a problem for this bike either. I will overtake pickups with ease and the little motorbikes be carefull there really dangerous sometimes (as in getting in youre way) easy to overtake.

I let go the handlebar and the bike is perfectly in track. No wobble, no drifting it really a amazing bike certainly for the price. That is really LOW iff you ask me, not everybody will agree on that. Iff youre used to a bigbike then this no is no comparing to it. But heeij a apple isnt a tangerine either you know :o

The extras, are really that of a bigbike, floorsteps, other fender parts, chrome parts for the lights, more usefull for instance saddlebags, other handlebars (not that i want that) tons of options are there for the phantom. To make it even a more sick bike then it allready is imho. I got a tankbag (thanx dad) that holds on to the tank with magnets. Saddlebag will come on it as soon as i get some cash free for it.

    Conclusion

Cons: Easy to drive (10 minutes without ,ever having shifted before), Smooth shifting, and very comfortable my girlfriend loves it on the back. Room enough. And powerfull enough to get up hill without a feel that the bike gets killed almost, getting up there. Great looks and tons of usefull options (saddlebags ectra)

Pros: 6 gearbox, its allot of shifting specially here with drivers infront of you, that cant drive. Thailand (samui) is known for it. But you will get used to it. Suspension is a tad sturdy but that loosens up after few days allready.

PICS WILL FOLLOW VERY SOON, TODAY !

  14. I like the greenbook, in fact iff i have that thing i will sleep on it. :D Because i know i CAN safe my ass one day iff i screw up. Call me farang, call me thailand noob..i dont really care. I laugh my ass off waving a greenbook were others stand still and can pay the pad thai for the coppers. :D

And so how do you know its not a bent book ?? A huge % of the green books are recycled.. So how do you know yours isnt ??

This is what I mean when I say theres rarely and black and white.. Its all a mess of grey.. So you get a bike with no book.. So then just put a book on it.. Do it fully legal, do it a little bent.. do it totally bent.. Its all a scale of grey.

But laughing while you wave your book.. all well and good until someone comes back and says its not legit... that many years ago it was modified.. Thats not an uncommon thing in the big bike world.

Uhmm let see ...because im not a idiot and make dam_n sure that the book fits the bike :o

That means when i need to get the book at the (official) honda dealer (highly uncommon that it will be counterfitted) i bring a very good thai friend of us with me. That is known with these so called counterfits. It doesnt matter, but youre telling me now whenever you buy a NEW bike at a OFFICIAL dealer. The greenbook maybe a counterfit. Afterall i got everything on the bike that i need to have includes the payment that has been made includes the name of the seller ectra (we bought 5 bikes there allready)

Forgive me for being a complete moron :D all of sudden. But that a secondhand bike gets a greybook. Doesnt mean a new one gets that same fate specially at a official dealer (even the headoffice were we buy oure bikes) that will counterfit/bend you a greenbook so lateron you could be in deep trouble?

Sorry..i dont buy that one. :D I know that thailand is corrupted like hel_l, everything so far is very official and looks as it should be and checked up for. You get a nice plate on youre bike, takes bout month here or so. Includes everything youre the owner and lets face it. Reading the greenbook and checking the framenumbers ectra isnt that hard to do youreself.

I think and know by now, many farangs are just simply to lazy to checkup themselfs. Im not one of them :D There is saying in my country and goes for thailand to "you get what you pay for" :D

Anyways got 400km on the counter now B) see review.

  15. I know its corrupt.. :D:o

Doesnt mean iff a thai is drunk and you hit him ( and he makes real effort of it)...without a greenbook youre screwed simple as that. Iff you live here youre bounded to there law ( even tho its corrupted like hel_l). That simply means no cash to bad youre screwed.

Example: i know someone that got caught for no helmet, normal price for that is about 300baht and you walk. He had to pay 1000baht, why ? simply because the cop had a bad day, or just did not like the look on his face. And dont gimme that crap WHAHAAH i would not pay!! Yah right...*yawn* i want to see you do that firsthand the will get youre ass to the police station simple as that. Youre nothing in here iff it comes to that. For them youre the walking wallet, big mouth, get in the car lets go for a ride!

Maybe talk a bit more with the GOOD (aint talking bout honda dealer, more the bigbike) motorcycle dealers that laugh at youre face when you show them a bike without a greenbook. :D There is a reason that you NEED that dam_n book..and it aint for special offers at the tesco lotus! :D

I dont want act like im the all knowing (i got allot to learn) but thats just it. I talk allot to the ppl that CAN ACTUALLY KNOW the ropes on that. And not some thai friend i happen to met in a bar or something that has a tall story about how it goes. While the drive a motorbike 110cc in there daily lives you know what i mean.

  16. Oh, there are always other routes, but they may lead you far out of your way and waste time, money, and energy. For starts, that Vulcan has no book or registration. Tells you something right there. Who's gonna repair it without cheating you (not yer local Suzuki dealer, that's sure), how shoddy are the repairs gonna be (so how many times you gotta take it back, or try to get another shop to repair the repair), and how long is it gonna take to get parts at rip-off prices?

"There you go again with those negative waves, man" Sergeant Oddball, Kelly's Heroes

Im not a expert in this, so bare with me. I learn it firsthand of what i know, hear and see. And even i know that greenbook iff you dont have it. Can give you sh*tload of probs in the future :o The bike shall be ok im not to worried. My father bought his big bike at XXX motorcycles (dont want to make commercial of it so xxx name replacer)

Included greenbook everything, the owner of the shop went with him to that office and all. Very neatly handled as it should be.

No greenbook...then no buy. That how i see it to you know. I dont trust that at all..afterall were guests in THERE country. Not the other way around. Law is law.

  17. To Hdriver (geen kwaad geschied beste kerel :o That means no harm done, i overeacted to and there for humble apoligies.

Oke the tensioner (as far as i understand) COULD BE STILL a mayor issue of the bike.

I will dig in deeper with that, specially with the honda dealer about that.

The bike should have been here this week, But as most thai there SLOOOWPOKES :C

The bike was not there yet at the factory. Although i doubt it but the only thing you can say is ok ok, we wait some more.

The say from now on 2 more weeks, because its a limited edition (ahum seen 3 of them allready on the island at least ) its been seen as a special order. I can go for the normal one that would not be a problem. But i like the black one very much so i have to be patient.

    Ill, keep you guys updated!

  18. Hard choice, personally I would say not buy one of them, the Honda Phantom is hardly what I would call a good motorcycle. And Tiger motorcycles with a automatic... also not on the list of things I want for Christmas.

The riding pleasure of a Honda Phantom is not that impressive and riding around town, you probably will feel better on a Honda Wave 125. If you doing some outer-town traffic for quickly going somewhere, you probably better off with a Honda Wave 125.

If the looks of a Honda Wave is not your style, go for a Honda Sonic 125, Suzuki Raider 150 or Honda CBR-150R. (If the Tiger shop sells the Boxer 200PX it is also a very good). Anyway all this bikes will give you so much more pleasure then the once you are about to select.

Thank you for this, Ive tried the wave, its to light and not so comfy as i want it to be. I find the airblade i sold even better then that one. The tiger compared to the phantom is a difference (i know very expensive) 6000bath *new* Honda is more of a reliable brand then tiger. Plus the tiger comes with 1 year guarantee on the engine. The phantom with 3 years on the engine, i find that important to specially with the JUST 6000 difference (!!)

The cbr150 the had that one on stock, its a racer :D Its look very impressive i must add i only sit on it. But its a higher bike, doesnt sit comfy for the passenger. For me it would be an ok bike for sure. It has a mono spring (how you call that Bridge suspenion?) I rather have dual springs..

The advantage of the Phantom (as i see it) Compared to the other ones described.

    Custom/chopper model bike

Low and buddyseat (this means no need for a hige leg sway to get on) and im not that big :D

I have side bags and tank bag for it allready (i can get some more on it then useuall)

Its has more power, not in speed i think compared to that cbr, but i know for sure lower rpm more smoother ride (so far i hear neighbour has an older cbr) :D

And its always so i drive with 2 on it not alone. Always passenger..

    Anyway

Bought it new the fire edition, 86500 bath with full guarantee ectra. Now ive read on the inet on thing tho that the older Phantoms had a prob something to do with the chain tensioner or something. Iff that thingie breaks down then the had to rebuild the engine?

Is this still and issue with the newer models ? or is this allready been fixed in the newer ones?

Not that im to worried (3 years guarantee on the engine), but still would be bummer iff it breaks down :D

And can anyone give me maintaince tips, like ok use that for the chain, or be carefull with that ectra.

Thank you very much so far for the good responses. And very handy tips, the sonic i dont know gonna dig into that one. The tiger 200boxer the dont have it here :D I think tiger makes good bikes only here on the island there really expensive :o

BTW tiger HAS NO SHOP HERE..the YAMAHA dealer sells them here

  19. I agree, my father drives a honda shadow 750cc (everything custom)... a custom steeringwheel

A steering wheel !! that is custom !!

I think the harsh sound of youre bike killed more braincells then i thought :D

I made an error, now let me double dare you to write me in Dutch and in my dialect. My english isnt that good that was allready obvious. :D

So far seen "the fact youre a die hard harley driver", you havent be able to given me one usefull posting yet. So please leave this topic for what it is. The rest of you peeps thanx for the HELPFULL information. And specially thank you for not making a fool out of mine crappy english.

I takes me double the time to write this all down..so i aint in the mood for lame responses that are of no use to me. :o

  20. but that's all that is left for such oldfashioned B.O.F.'s such as me...... the MP3-kiddo-download generation has managed to kill the business for international CD' in Asia....

Not just Asia....dying worldwide. Same as Betamax video tapes etc.

New format, new players, CD is dead.

If you have any doubt, download that classic big Dillinja bass line style dubplate 'vinyl's dead bruv. Everyone's playin' MP3s' can't remember whose tune.

For what it is worth, I never rated CD Warehouse or Tower. Total rubbish in most sections. HMV Singapore or Japan, now those are CD stores.

    Pure nonses...cd is death :D

MD,DAT,BETAMAX (was not audio is father of video (VHS) DCC, ectra ectra the ALL failed to get the cd of the throne.

THis will also go for the famous mistake ever SACD :o:D Blueray will never hack it as a musical medium.

Because its allready here for YEARS. The flood the market with old crap then the come with the so called blueray. It was allready here for years BEFORE it ever hit the european market. And even now its a so so format. That is mainly used for the gaming industry.

Only ppl that dont give a crap for the GOLDEN midway on quality..will make sure that the cd will die one of these days. Iff you come to think of it the best quality we have ever know is vinyl. Why? because its a UNCOMPRESSED medium. The groove of a record is miles long, and uncompressed. The cd is bits and bytes and still widely used and sold.

Thing is now you buy these crappy midisets with a fancy usb port and plug in a mp3 player like the stinking ipod. Compare that crap to real quality and you will find "audiophiles" that know what quality is about use...

either vinyl or cd (the gold midway) to listen to. Its just a matter of how critical of listner you are. Until today the cd has not be proven absolete comparted to ALL THE OTHER BY NOW FAILED mediums that ahould have killed this medium. It will happen on of these days...but this time still belongs to the cd..

  21. Apologies if this topic already exists. I did a search and didn't find anything.

Anyway, I'm fairly new to BKK and whilst I've discovered you can buy pretty much everything here I have yet to find a way of buying music CDs. Yes there are a few places in Pantip, MBK etc selling Maddonas greatest hits type copies but I haven't found any "proper", for want of a better word, places. Also my other main source ie the internet seems to either not deliver to Thailand or to at least charge a lot for doing so.

    Any advice on this? Thanks

I agree there allot of bad copies to, but there is always a little shop that has GOOD copies. Listen to them with headset i always go to the same one. Madonna hits is a mainstream thing nothing special to get that one in good quality.

Serenity dub albums for instance now thats a hard one to find. Or king of my empire, claude challe albums. thats what i dont call mainstream, madonna is mainstream should not be so hard to find.

Now this may sound weird. But is also depends on what kind of stereo you listen music on. :o

the better the stereo is, the more likely you will hear the flaws in the record coming back in youre livingroom.

  22. No way. We got a guy living in the condo building four hundred meters down the street from us. He's got a Harley Road King and that thing makes so much noise when he roars down the street that everyone cannot help but notice him. A Phantom F-4 just won't cut it. But that Harley makes such a racket the buildings all up and down the street here shake as if hit by an earthquake, so trust me, this guy makes his mark as in "That jerk is once again challenging all those unmuffled large construction trucks full of dirt for dominance of the decibel waves in this neighborhood."

I agree, my father drives a honda shadow 750cc (everything custom) yes the flame decal job, the lots of chrome the glitter and glamor. The blinkers in the handles a custom steeringwheel, the dragpipes that clear out the floor whenever you even dare to touch the start button of that bike (beautiful bike i gotta add real eyecatcher).

I find i pretty cool to hear those bike roar :D But thats just the thing, the dont see how much power the give up for just that :o

I rather have a more pleasant journey, and yes i like to hear a engine. But i can imagine having that harley sound on youre ear for a few hours it gets really irritating :D And the fun part is the dont even pull a saucage of the streetbricks whenever the pull away from a stoplight :D Not even the huge 1500cc bikes (pretty rare ) :D The smaller ones i had more probs with to outrunning them from 0 to 80 :D

As i said speed doesnt mean anything, specially here in thailand. I know a man (lives her with his wife) has a enormous bike suzuki custom 1400cc CHAINDRIVEN. Trust me that bike you dont hear original exhaust and stuff gentle driver to that man. But i know for 100% sure iff he wants to he can pull the bricks out of the floor and outrun allot of bikes here on the island.

Here on the island i go for comfort, i believe now that my girl would be sitting allot better then on a motorbike (scooter model) and well on the island here. Ppl that know koh samui, lets face it its a fuc_ked up road everywere. I think the phantom is the anwser, to my probs. And i think indeed that i did the right buy here. It cost me 50000 approx, seen the fact i got 35000 back for my airblade. And 3 year guarantee on the engine ectra.

And for the bigbike drivers in here yah DUH its offcourse better then a phantom. Owning a bike like a harley has nothing to do with dicksizes. It has to do with the love for a certain brand. And lets face it for a v-rod here you pay about 1million baht secondhand in GOOD condition. In any other country *Atleast were i come from(europe)*

You can forget that, for that price. With other words in Thailand, dreams are closer by then in most other countries. Thats the way i see it :D I love to see the huge bikes over here, i could or not even DARE to drive them. Heeij atleast im honest, let me be happy with a 200cc phantom 4 stroke you know and i know i will be a soon as i get it B)

  23. HI

Why wait, go get it and ride home

    Read :o

Bought the phantom fire edition waiting time is 2 weeks has to come from bangkok :D

For now got one from Ohm cycles a mio. I dont all the good fuzz about yamaha in various topics. I FIND THEM CRAP inclused the nouvo :D Its like a fighterjet from 40 till 60 the sound it makes. Never to mention the rattling noise of the cylinder that goes into * i wanna go but cant * modus.

Ahhh 2 weeks will be released of the motorbike consequenses and have somewhat more power and more comfort finally. :D

  24. Gosh, now that we see the picture, there is no comparison. 7.6 liter tank versus ten for the Phantom, 13-inch wheels that give less balance, garish paint job - and it is a step-through scooter, of very dubious quality! The road tester says the back seat is small. Phantom is more of a big bike.

Do add that the reviewer is a phatass :o As he self says in the review. As i said i have more faith in Honda then the tiger. But telling me that its complete rubbish kindah crap. Seen the fact ppl here never even seen the thing let alone driven it :D

Would be the same as i would say a harley sucks, because there know for there 3 hour drive 6 hour service after thing. Bs offcourse i cant say that never driven one. I stay with my opinion, unknown makes unloved. Like everything in the world, its called human behaviour :D

I dont compare it with the phantom, its obviously a much better bike. BUT i gotta add this and i did my research on this one trust my word for it.

The tiger g-max cost new with one year guarantee on the engine 81500baht

The Phantom fire edition 86500 baht

Ok so far you roll eyes, youre point is? I found out the tiger in other places is ALLOT cheaper then here at the craptank yamaha dealer. I talked to a good friend of my that does bike repair on samui. The normal pricingtag should be around 50 or 60 tops. Now thats a big difference iff you ask me.. :D and duh cannot compare to the phantom at all.

You get what you pay for, i agree..but i dont discard the potential of that bike. Iff it said honda or yamaha allot more would be sold for sure. Its pure a name that gets drilled into the ground. One more thing Tiger is VERY populair so ive heard (i cannot confirm this but pure from asking so bare with me) amongst thai ppl. Properly because its cheap i think but still.

I would love to hear more from this thing, so who has one i like to hear a impression of the bike. And please not from a badass, lardassed biker that weights over 150kg or something. Its useless then keep it in perspective. Normal build men, were its ment for. :D
