  1. Some of these posts seem unecessarily alarmist. The fact is, there are millions of health conscious individuals who are drinking 8 glasses plus of water a day, without suffering any problems. I drink a litre of warm water on rising and find that it gets the elimination channels working. Other than that I drink when my body tells me to.

If I wish to go a step beyond and cleanse the whole elimination channel I will drink 2 litres of warm (sea) salt water within an hour, which flushes all the pipework as well as cleansing the stomach. It's been used by Yoga practitioners for thousands of years.

There are claims that cleansing the bowel regularly will also keep you young. Do a search for the 'Mae West Enema'.

In this climate we tend to need more salt and adding a pinch to your water may be sensible. If it tastes too salty then your body is telling you it doesn't need it.

I have read dermatologists say that the best product you can take for your skin is clean water and avoid sunlight and smoking. A poor diet won't help. Flip-flop dieting will produce saggy skin. Most lotions and potions don't do a thing, except empty your purse. Perhaps make you feel better.

  2. The East is assuming far more importance these days. The UK is well past its zenith. The US is also past its zenith. For a while at least the East looks the place to be for the future... :D

Had the U.S. stock market not seriously scalped me, I would be buying Chinese solars. I would, however, wait until the Olympics are over and see whether there is any more downside to come.

How about waiting for Vietnam to collapse, then picking up bargains there? Is it possible or even desirable?

It may well be that Thailand stays affordable for Brits, if as you suggest, it is unable to get its act together. I am liquidating assets in the UK and moving them into other vehicles, like gold and stocking up on bags of rice. :o

How do you see the UKP/THB exchange rate over the next 6 months? 12 months?

Do you see serious systemic failure in the whole fiat money system bringing ruin to everyone? How much debt upon debt can the system support? Surely it can't go on like this?

  3. Heh, the first two posts were nothing more than shameless advertising for Ron Paul. :o

    Your 'shameless' interpretation is insulting.

As to the blatant smear of Ron Paul (can't you guys sing a new song? we're all wise to the tactic by now)... Since he is in a position to know and you are a nobody on a message board, I'll take his word over yours any day of the week.

    'Heh' :D

  4. This speech by Ron Paul, one of the few decent men left in American politics is a wake up call to everyone, no matter what country. Since he says "The world economy and political system will share in the chaos about to be unleashed." I feel it is absolutely appropriate to post it in this Forum.

I also think the global media silence on this is criminal.

'Texas Congressman Ron Paul has warned the House that he is "convinced the time is now upon us that some Big Events are about to occur." that will cause liberty to go "into deep hibernation".

    Paul told the House:

"These fast-approaching events will not go unnoticed. They will affect all of us. They will not be limited to just some areas of our country. The world economy and political system will share in the chaos about to be unleashed."

"There are reasons to believe this coming crisis is different and bigger than the world has ever experienced. Instead of using globalism in a positive fashion, it's been used to globalize all of the mistakes of the politicians, bureaucrats and central bankers." Paul continued.

In one of Paul's most memorable speeches to date, the Congressman spoke of rampant authoritarianism having replaced the principles of liberty that the United States was founded upon and warned that current empire building financed through inflation and debt signals a most frightening period in history.

"Our arrogance and aggressiveness have been used to promote a world empire backed by the most powerful army of history. This type of globalist intervention creates problems for all citizens of the world and fails to contribute to the well-being of the world's populations. Just think how our personal liberties have been trashed here at home in the last decade." Paul urged fellow representatives.

Paul outlined the history of the current economic crisis and alluded to key events such as the inception of the Federal Reserve System, the creation of the Bretton-Woods Monetary System and the creation of a "dollar bubble".

"This bubble is different and bigger for another reason." Paul argued.

"The central banks of the world secretly collude to centrally plan the world economy. I'm convinced that agreements among central banks to "monetize" U.S. debt these past 15 years have existed, although secretly and out of the reach of any oversight of anyone--especially the U.S. Congress that doesn't care, or just flat doesn't understand."

Yesterday, the Congressman also confronted Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke over what he described as a 35 plus year dollar bubble, telling him "You are probably the biggest taxer in the country", citing the inflationary fiat money system as the most unfair and regressive form of taxation there is.

A stunned Bernanke put up little resistance and simply agreed with Paul, stating "Congressman, I couldn't agree with you more that inflation is a tax, and that inflation is currently too high."

Paul also pointed out that government bail out packages for lenders will inevitably lead to a further increases in the already stratospheric national debt.

Ron Paul's entire speech before the House now follows:

Madam Speaker, I have, for the past 35 years, expressed my grave concern for the future of America . The course we have taken over the past century has threatened our liberties, security and prosperity. In spite of these long-held concerns, I have days--growing more frequent all the time--when I'm convinced the time is now upon us that some Big Events are about to occur. These fast-approaching events will not go unnoticed. They will affect all of us. They will not be limited to just some areas of our country. The world economy and political system will share in the chaos about to be unleashed.

Though the world has long suffered from the senselessness of wars that should have been avoided, my greatest fear is that the course on which we find ourselves will bring even greater conflict and economic suffering to the innocent people of the world--unless we quickly change our ways.

America , with her traditions of free markets and property rights, led the way toward great wealth and progress throughout the world as well as at home. Since we have lost our confidence in the principles of liberty, self reliance, hard work and frugality, and instead took on empire building, financed through inflation and debt, all this has changed. This is indeed frightening and an historic event.

The problem we face is not new in history. Authoritarianism has been around a long time. For centuries, inflation and debt have been used by tyrants to hold power, promote aggression, and provide "bread and circuses" for the people. The notion that a country can afford "guns and butter" with no significant penalty existed even before the 1960s when it became a popular slogan. It was then, though, we were told the Vietnam War and the massive expansion of the welfare state were not problems. The seventies proved that assumption wrong.

Today things are different from even ancient times or the 1970s. There is something to the argument that we are now a global economy. The world has more people and is more integrated due to modern technology, communications, and travel. If modern technology had been used to promote the ideas of liberty, free markets, sound money and trade, it would have ushered in a new golden age--a globalism we could accept.

Instead, the wealth and freedom we now enjoy are shrinking and rest upon a fragile philosophic infrastructure. It is not unlike the levies and bridges in our own country that our system of war and welfare has caused us to ignore.

I'm fearful that my concerns have been legitimate and may even be worse than I first thought. They are now at our doorstep. Time is short for making a course correction before this grand experiment in liberty goes into deep hibernation.

There are reasons to believe this coming crisis is different and bigger than the world has ever experienced. Instead of using globalism in a positive fashion, it's been used to globalize all of the mistakes of the politicians, bureaucrats and central bankers.

Being an unchallenged sole superpower was never accepted by us with a sense of humility and respect. Our arrogance and aggressiveness have been used to promote a world empire backed by the most powerful army of history. This type of globalist intervention creates problems for all citizens of the world and fails to contribute to the well-being of the world's populations. Just think how our personal liberties have been trashed here at home in the last decade.

The financial crisis, still in its early stages, is apparent to everyone: gasoline prices over $4 a gallon; skyrocketing education and medical-care costs; the collapse of the housing bubble; the bursting of the NASDAQ bubble; stock markets plunging; unemployment rising; massive underemployment; excessive government debt; and unmanageable personal debt. Little doubt exists as to whether we'll get stagflation. The question that will soon be asked is: When will the stagflation become an inflationary depression?

There are various reasons that the world economy has been globalized and the problems we face are worldwide. We cannot understand what we're facing without understanding fiat money and the long-developing dollar bubble.

There were several stages. From the inception of the Federal Reserve System in 1913 to 1933, the Central Bank established itself as the official dollar manager. By 1933, Americans could no longer own gold, thus removing restraint on the Federal Reserve to inflate for war and welfare.

By 1945, further restraints were removed by creating the Bretton-Woods Monetary System making the dollar the reserve currency of the world. This system lasted up until 1971. During the period between 1945 and 1971, some restraints on the Fed remained in place. Foreigners, but not Americans, could convert dollars to gold at $35 an ounce. Due to the excessive dollars being created, that system came to an end in 1971.

It's the post Bretton-Woods system that was responsible for globalizing inflation and markets and for generating a gigantic worldwide dollar bubble. That bubble is now bursting, and we're seeing what it's like to suffer the consequences of the many previous economic errors.

Ironically in these past 35 years, we have benefited from this very flawed system. Because the world accepted dollars as if they were gold, we only had to counterfeit more dollars, spend them overseas (indirectly encouraging our jobs to go overseas as well) and enjoy unearned prosperity. Those who took our dollars and gave us goods and services were only too anxious to loan those dollars back to us. This allowed us to export our inflation and delay the consequences we now are starting to see.

But it was never destined to last, and now we have to pay the piper. Our huge foreign debt must be paid or liquidated. Our entitlements are coming due just as the world has become more reluctant to hold dollars. The consequence of that decision is price inflation in this country--and that's what we are witnessing today. Already price inflation overseas is even higher than here at home as a consequence of foreign central banks' willingness to monetize our debt.

Printing dollars over long periods of time may not immediately push prices up--yet in time it always does. Now we're seeing catch-up for past inflating of the monetary supply. As bad as it is today with $4 a gallon gasoline, this is just the beginning. It's a gross distraction to hound away at "drill, drill, drill" as a solution to the dollar crisis and high gasoline prices. Its okay to let the market increase supplies and drill, but that issue is a gross distraction from the sins of deficits and Federal Reserve monetary shenanigans.

This bubble is different and bigger for another reason. The central banks of the world secretly collude to centrally plan the world economy. I'm convinced that agreements among central banks to "monetize" U.S. debt these past 15 years have existed, although secretly and out of the reach of any oversight of anyone--especially the U.S. Congress that doesn't care, or just flat doesn't understand. As this "gift" to us comes to an end, our problems worsen. The central banks and the various governments are very powerful, but eventually the markets overwhelm when the people who get stuck holding the bag (of bad dollars) catch on and spend the dollars into the economy with emotional zeal, thus igniting inflationary fever.

This time--since there are so many dollars and so many countries involved--the Fed has been able to "paper" over every approaching crisis for the past 15 years, especially with Alan Greenspan as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, which has allowed the bubble to become history's greatest.

The mistakes made with excessive credit at artificially low rates are huge, and the market is demanding a correction. This involves excessive debt, misdirected investments, over-investments, and all the other problems caused by the government when spending the money they should never have had. Foreign militarism, welfare handouts and $80 trillion entitlement promises are all coming to an end. We don't have the money or the wealth-creating capacity to catch up and care for all the needs that now exist because we rejected the market economy, sound money, self reliance and the principles of liberty.

Since the correction of all this misallocation of resources is necessary and must come, one can look for some good that may come as this "Big Event" unfolds.

There are two choices that people can make. The one choice that is unavailable to us is to limp along with the status quo and prop up the system with more debt, inflation and lies. That won't happen.

One of the two choices, and the one chosen so often by government in the past is that of rejecting the principles of liberty and resorting to even bigger and more authoritarian government. Some argue that giving dictatorial powers to the President, just as we have allowed him to run the American empire, is what we should do. That's the great danger, and in this post-911 atmosphere, too many Americans are seeking safety over freedom. We have already lost too many of our personal liberties already. Real fear of economic collapse could prompt central planners to act to such a degree that the New Deal of the 30's might look like Jefferson 's Declaration of Independence.

The more the government is allowed to do in taking over and running the economy, the deeper the depression gets and the longer it lasts. That was the story of the 30s and the early 40s, and the same mistakes are likely to be made again if we do not wake up.

But the good news is that it need not be so bad if we do the right thing. I saw "Something Big" happening in the past 18 months on the campaign trail. I was encouraged that we are capable of waking up and doing the right thing. I have literally met thousands of high school and college kids who are quite willing to accept the challenge and responsibility of a free society and reject the cradle-to-grave welfare that is promised them by so many do-good politicians.

If more hear the message of liberty, more will join in this effort. The failure of our foreign policy, welfare system, and monetary policies and virtually all government solutions are so readily apparent, it doesn't take that much convincing. But the positive message of how freedom works and why it's possible is what is urgently needed.

One of the best parts of accepting self reliance in a free society is that true personal satisfaction with one's own life can be achieved. This doesn't happen when the government assumes the role of guardian, parent or provider, because it eliminates a sense of pride. But the real problem is the government can't provide the safety and economic security that it claims. The so called good that government claims it can deliver is always achieved at the expense of someone else's freedom. It's a failed system and the young people know it.

Restoring a free society doesn't eliminate the need to get our house in order and to pay for the extravagant spending. But the pain would not be long-lasting if we did the right things, and best of all the empire would have to end for financial reasons. Our wars would stop, the attack on civil liberties would cease, and prosperity would return. The choices are clear: it shouldn't be difficult, but the big event now unfolding gives us a great opportunity to reverse the tide and resume the truly great American Revolution started in 1776. Opportunity knocks in spite of the urgency and the dangers we face.

Let's make "Something Big Is Happening" be the discovery that freedom works and is popular and the big economic and political event we're witnessing is a blessing in disguise."

  5. When I travelled through eastern Europe, this was a common occurrence. I handled it in two ways. Either say you only have x amount of cash (whatever you think you can get away with) or demand to pay at the station. IMO In Thailand the sums are so small it isn't worth the hassle. I have a friend who flashes a Police Colonel's business card every time he's stopped. They wave him on without a word. If you can, find a connected Police friend.

In Albufeira, Portugal, a few years ago, the whole police dept was axed as they had been running a 'fines' scam on tourists for years. The problem was, the fines got ever higher and the dashboards bulging full of cash, serviced fine houses and for one sergeant, a new Porsche.

I don't complain here, in fact laugh to myself, since compared to Europe, the sums involved are a joke. My thai g/f pays the same, so I can't even whine about racism. :o

  6. Peroxide is an excellent wound therapy. Effervescent cleanser and painless when applied to clotted wounds. Very toxic to many dangerous types of bacteria that live in oxygen-poor environments like clotted skin wounds. For external use only IMHO, regardless of purity.

    Are you sure?

    http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/hydrogen_peroxide.html

*** HYDROGEN PEROXIDE NO LONGER RECOMMENDED FOR WOUND CARE ***

2/15/2008: Dawn (R. N.) from Allen, Texas writes: "Hydrogen peroxide was once used for cleaning wounds but research has shown it is too harsh for wound care. It kills healthy tissue, is cytotoxic, and actually delays wound healing. Unfortunately, some health professionals have not kept current on changes in wound care and still recommend H2O2. I cannot comment on the other clains on your page, but H2O2 for wound care is definitely inappropriate."

  7. Basically, to get to the source of your being, you subtract, you don't add. In other words, the "you", needs to remove all socio-cultural influences to find any true 'self'. Rites, rituals and temple magicians add to the problem.

That's a good way to put it.

I agree and a similar idea is incorporated into some movies, (Jackie Chan/Jet Li). The drink gets knocked over and emptied as the 'Master' says 'How can you learn anything if you are already full'. When I was more involved I had an email address 'fullwhenempty'. :o

But there are I believe 6 different paths, the path of Knowledge, path of Service and so on. Perhaps different personalities need different approaches?

Are you sure the meditation courses are not needed. Is it not the case that you cannot let go of a thought if you don't know what you are thinking?

  8. Where did you buy your generator? In Chiang Mai? Did they have other units and accessories?

Thanks for the explanation but I still feel the hose is suspect. There was also sticky white residue on the stone.

I called the company (no on the website) and they gave me an English speaking reps number in Bangkok. I paid into their account and they shipped it to me in HH.

I want the generator to try a healing/cleansing protocol but apparently I cannot reduce the output nor regulate it. There are various strategies such as insufflation and bagging but I need to source bits myself or buy another setup.

Maybe I'll stick to a Hydrogen Peroxide Protocol since I have the food grade.

  9. As an alternative it also works to buy an ozone generator and ozonate water then drink the water and very similar to ingesting H202 diluted in water.

Just be careful when you buy an Ozone generator that the hose is ozone resistant, made from teflon or silicone.

I bought a generator 'Made in Thailand' and didn't realise I had been drinking dissolved pvc. Manufacturer should be shot.

what generator MFG did you purchase?

    OZZON

Yeah I know those... Corona discharge. Not a bad unit for the price. Gas Plasma is better. So your saying the flexible hose it comes with is PVC or has PVC? PVC is less common for flexible applications. Or are you saying there is a fitting inside made of PVC?

How did you determine your getting PVC in your water etc? The reason I ask is that a lot of the corona discharge machines are made similar.

When running the generator for a while... 15 minutes to purify a jug of water... I saw small white pieces floating on the surface. There was also a sticky coating where the water touches the glass. 'Tide mark'.

Finally the hose is now sticky to the touch and less rigid, a sign that it has degraded. I am trying to find a supplier of teflon or silicone in Thailand that will sell me short lengths. Since it's less than $0.50 per foot, cost isn't an issue.

I had the machine only a week or two before I noticed these signs. I would source replacement hose if you do buy, or inform the factory and insist on silicone/teflon and ask them to prove they use it.

  10. Believe what you want, I'll believe what I want.

Interesting post and a good attitude. :o

Out of interest. Celebrating Halloween this year? Enjoy Harry Potter? Believe in WMDs? Which soap powder do you buy?

Beliefs, unfortunately, are implanted in us all too easily.

  11. Are you a Native American?

No. But I do have experience of shamanism. How about you?

American Indians believe in a spirit world. If you want to dismiss thousands of years of subjective experience, you are free to do so. Since their minds and nervous systems aren't clouded by 'reason' and overstimulation and they have lived closer to the natural world, I'm not going to dismiss their beliefs as readily as some.

NDEs have also been artificially induced and can seem very real even if it isn't.

    Have you had one?

Regarding wars, people die in wars, so if someone "knows" their loved one has died, and the person did in fact die, "sensing" it is not unusual considering death is a very big risk of war.

Have YOU ever 'sensed' someone's death? Or even when they are hurt? Others have. Dismissing them doesn't make you right. Just cynical.

Animals/tsunamis: Some animals can detect sounds, pressure, etc., better than humans.

Dogs growling at nothing: maybe it isn't nothing. Could be growling at some other animal, or a sound or who knows.

As you say, 'who knows'. Since you don't know, you aren't in a position to naysay it.

Altered state? Yes. But perhaps you should study up first on how hallucinogens work on the brain.

There are many things that affect the brain. Chemical toxins, heavy metals, too much sugar, pharmaceutical drugs, computer or electrical radiation, mobile phone and other frequencies, too little cortisol, everything we ingest, inadequate breathing, emotional stress and so on. Lots of lovely 'scientific' ways to dismiss thousands of years of mystical experience. The word 'hallucinogen', alone, condemns the practitioner.

Taking in a lot of oxygen could make a person feel light-headed and imagine things.

Sorry. 'could' doesn't really cut it. In the first experience I woke up in the night and my oxygen levels were normal. In the latter, elevated. Strange that I would have a similar sense of 'invasion' and fear.

Oxygen is a powerful cleanser physically. Why not spiritually?

I tried to recall how an entity could have entered my body and remembered a night when I woke up from a restless sleep and to my horror 'saw' a dark shape enter my body through my feet.

That sort of thing can happen to a lot of people during sleep.

Which part of 'I woke up' wasn't clear?

It's true I was going through a very stressful period at the time (your 'defective mind'?) But that's precisely the point isn't it? That it's when we are going through an intense emotional/psychological period, then our own frequency changes and perhaps we attract certain entities.

Being under stress can certainly be intense, but has nothing to do with attracting entities.

You are good. You said it and it was so. :D

I know meditators who practice Vipassana and claim they can leave their bodies and 'travel'. One claimed she had watched me make love to a friend. She had asked me if I was sleeping with her and I said 'No'. She said I was lying and I asked how she could know? She said 'I watched you'.

    How would you explain this?

When a person "leaves" their body, it's usually a sign of being dead.

Yet another imperious waft of the hand. At least you are consistent. :D

I just tried asking your grandpa. Unfortunately he didn't answer. :D

He did actually. Asked me to pass on this message. "I don't waste my time talking to 'imperious wafters'.

    They don't listen" :o

  13. I stated on a previous thread that i'm seriously considering re-locating to Hua hin with gf and a new born, after speaking to a pal last week he thinks it would be better to live in Cha-am,his thinking is that it is less touristy there,a better environment to raise a kid and less 'tempatations'....i'm sure it's very nice there but the first thought that came into my head was there won't be as much there ie:Tesco lotus, villa, less choice of shops, restaurants, bars etc...

    Any opinions appreciated...

    Hi John.

I have a family and don't go near the 'temptations'. The beer bar area is small.

Hua Hin is a prettier town IMHO.

You may want to check crime levels in both places. With the poor feeling the squeeze, robberies against property and person are on the increase.

  14. I tend towards introversion so find people draining and most conversation superficial. On the occasions when I have immersed myself in a spiritual life, for instance, staying at a retreat, the spiritual life seems completely possible. As soon as you return back to the 'real' world, it's very difficult to not get sucked into it. The analogy of the hot coal jumping out of a fire and going out.

When I spend longer periods in retreats, I find the same human problems existing there as I find outside, they are just repressed to a certain extent until they blow up. Women seem to suffer this more than men IMO.

There are very few who spiritually 'get it'. Western nervous systems are generally overstimulated. Getting them off the addiction of sense gratification is very difficult. I think until one has achieved that, either through practice or getting thrown in at the deep end, I don't have the courage to try it. :)

  16. 1. The forum is easy to use.

    2. There are some bright posters.

    3. The moderators haven't allowed it to develop into the playground of a small clique where you are either 'IN' or 'fair game'.

    4. The topics are wide ranging

Could be even better if there existed the permanent ability to edit, so we could retract all those impulsive, ignorant, insensitive, emotional, racist, homophobic posts we foolishly make, before any damage is done.

  17. 35% food-grade is the only one fit for internal use

is this a joke? ingesting H²O² of 35% strength will burn your guts in minutes! :o

Which is why users dilute it.

Hydrogen Peroxide (Dioxide) 35% food-grade, not the 3% found in the average pharmacy or supermarket for topical applications.

35% food-grade is the only one fit for internal use as the others have other ingredients that are not recommended for ingestion.

    Recommendations?

You could order it from BKK and have them deliver. Search for 'Peroxythai'.

  18. HI

I have an SVOA Laptop with built in webcam, but it apperars to be not working now?

Does anyone know how i can find the settings, thus maybe turn it on again?

    Thanks

Did you change anything in the machine? Install new s/w or hardware?

Go to the windows menu. Then click on run. Type in devmgmt.msc This will run the device manager. Find the Webcam in the list. Click on it. Make sure it says the device is working properly (it may not, in your case). From here you can delete the driver then reboot. See if it re-installs. Go back to the device manager and see if the webcam is listed and there are no errors.

Another way to fix this problem is to use the 'restore' option. Go to My Computer, right click, select properties. on the page that comes up, select advanced system settings. click on the system protection tab. select system restore. if one of the points contained there is at a time point where the webcam was working, you can restore that point. Note that the system restore will change everything about your profile to the way it was at that set point. This includes all windows settings, drivers, etc. Make sure you have all important files backed up to a different drive, just in case.

I did a search for SVOA laptop and a few results mentioned Pantip. If you bought it there you can nip back to the shop and have them sort it.

    Good luck.
