  1. We've since relocated our Board Game Group in Korat. It's now near Suranaree University of Technology.
We still have regular meetups, but even if we don't have an event there are people around to play if you're interested.

  2. So how does this work? Regular or specific days or nights?

Many of them are opened all week (or with a day or two off). Mostly afternoons and evenings.

There is a web address or facebook page under the descriptions of each shop on the map. They often publish opening times there.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Nice,

do you really mean that you have unlimited 3G the whole month for 399 Baht ?

Which Telephone Company are you using ?

You need to be careful with the definition of 'unlimited'. What it usually means is that you have 3G speeds up to your plan allowance level, after which you are throttled down to 200kbps, which IS unlimited

Yes correct with AIS, some of the cheaper unlimited plans throttled to even less than that

Every few weeks a group of us get together for a casual afternoon of boardgames and cardgames at a nice little Cafe in Korat.

None of us take winning seriously. We love to try new games so if you have a favourite of your own feel free to bring it along.
If you want more information about the upcoming get-together (29th June) then feel free to check out our event page - https://www.facebook.com/events/324349351030825/

If you can't make it this week but are still interested, then feel free to comment below.

    Thanks

  6. I have a bit of a passion for boardgames.
Mostly easy-to-learn / euro games like Carcassonne or Settlers of Catan.

I don't take gaming too seriously, but I'd much rather sit down for a casual game and chat, than play computer games.

However, I don't know many people in Korat that also like the same. If you're interested to get together for a game or two just let me know.

Also, I'll be organising a free boardgame day at the best cafe in Joho area of Korat.

That will be on Saturday March 30th as a part of International TableTop Day 2013.
If you want more info or need directions just comment below or Private Message me.

  7. Hi,

I'm about to do my 2nd ever run to Vientienne for a double entry tourist visa. Last time it went fairly well. A couple things I want to improve this time, one is to make sure I have $US to pay for the Laos visa.I tried last time to change in Khorat before I left, but they said they didn't sell US dollars (at Bangkok Bank of all places!!). Is there somewhere I can change quickly at the border, either side is fine as long as its fairly easy to get to. The fee is $30 for Aussies correct?

Also I have to say I'm looking forward to dealing with the pleasant Lao visa staff, after doing a crossing over into Cambodia not too long ago.

    Thanks

  8. I went there for the first time today, so will leave my thoughts just incase anyone else decides to go

its quite pleasant and quiet, you still have to deal with a few annoyances but no where near as much as other Cambodian borders. There will still be "agents" / helpers trying to do everything for you.

Getting the Cambodian visa, they will ask for 1100 Thai baht or more. I managed to pay US$20 + 200 baht, because I already had the $US and convinced them to let me pay just a little extra, although they wanted 400 bahtOn doing your arrival card, they will probably go ahead and stamp the departure too. Because you there less than 24 hours there will be a fee of 200 baht. They might show you a printed out email stating that the $20 is only for tourist visas staying the minimum of 24 hours, that is why there is an extra fee. I found myself a getting a little annoyed, but didn't know if I had a case, so in the end I just payed it and moved along before I said something stupid.

If you're coming from Korat and get a bus to Surin using the route via Prasaat then hop off at Prasaat and catch a van to the Chom Chong from there. It might save you an hour. Don't make the mistake I did at first and go all the way to Surin only to realize you didn't have to.
