  1. I want to say thank you for all the information.

Yesterday i visited Ban Mo, the area was crowded with red-shirts and

(strategic placed) military around so i have to take a motorcycle to get there.

It consists of hundreds of mostly small shops which sell electronic components.

I have not seen one single transistor or resistor to buy there (except those soldered on a board)

I found LED's, screws, cases (plastic and metal), thousands of speakers

of all sizes, cabels, connectors (mostly for audio) and so on.

My first impression is you will get everything there if you know at what shop !

For example i now know one shop with a small collection of

screws which may be of interest but dont know if i will find the way

    back to that shop.

(I have been happy to find the way back to my motorcycle-taxi)

I will try the larger recommended shops later.

Maybe its a good idea to rent a cheap apartement

because of driving 1.5 hour for one or two

components is not good. (I am from Suphanburi)

Maybe the postal way is the better one.

(I am from old fashion style and like to have

things in my hand before ordering it)

By the way, where the devil is Sri Racha Nakorn ?

    :)

  2. Hello rgs2001uk.

The land title is full chanote as i know. for

details please PM you will get the the phone number

of my wife (thai) she knows all details.

In that area 1 rai of land is expected 1 ran bath, idont know

Saraburi in detail cause i am from Suphabburi.

The water is from the government OK for shower

and clean hands or water your plants.

I will try to find the Google coordinates and post them here

or just have a closer look at the land if you are from Saraburi

    region.

We need to sell cause of money, money makes the world go around.

We asked 3 weeks ago VRS real estate company to take care for

selling this land, until know we get no offer.

If we find a buyer here now i dont know if we have to charge

VRS real estate, but that would be our problem.

We (my wife and i) are private.

    No charges or percent.

(Except the land office charges / tax)

  3. There is a road to the land.

Its as i wrote above 350 m away from the main road. With

    a connection to it !

Electricity is avail at the neigbours, if you want to build

a house ask the electricity company to connect the

    land to the existing net.

Also there is water to get the same way and telephone

    and internet etc.

Even DSL, this should all not be problem in Saraburi.

(ca. 110 km away from Bankok)

Land is estimated of worth 1 million Bath, if you have time to wait for a buyer.

Because this s urgent case we now go down to

    600,000 Bath

This is expecting the buyer to pay charges and taxes for the transfer to the land office.

  4. Thanks a lot. I will reserve a day and try this out. (Have a look at the locations)

If you have Thai name of this would be kind if you give.

(And easier to find for me)

Its some time ago i have had a solder iron in my hands. :)

  5. I am looking for parts like

resistors, transistors, integrated circuits, LEDs, capacitors etc.

NOT looking for computer parts or computer components !!

should be a good sortiment. the should have resistors

    with (i thing its) 1/8 Watt 1/2 Watt 1 Watt ...

    different tollerances and E rows.

    wired or SMD.

    for example.

I would be very happy for any hints, if its not a Computer Mall

  6. UPDATE

    >mickylonster:

    >try tobbaconist 5th floor emporium

I have been at emporium saturday. At the fifth floor i dont

found an tobbaconist but an liquore store. They sell Cigarettes

    but not Benson & Hedges.

Further i would recommend: Do not take your wife

and money or creditcard together with you to the emporium.

Its the most expensivest mall i have seen in TH.

  7. Have you tried Western Union they should transfer money worldwide.

If you want to use a Thai Bank you need an Invoice for the amount.

    1) Invoice (In English will save a lot of time)

    2) Passport / Id-Card

    3) Address of the Bank to Transfer to

    4) Address of the Beneficiary (as on the Invoice)

    5) IBAN number of his account

  8. Thanks a lot telling me that i steped on a nationwide

problem. (i.e. trying to buy Benson & Hedges).

Every one knows a good import&export company

who is specialised on tabaco ? (best in Bangkok or arround)

I will ask them for importing it.

And i can save a lot of time next saturday not trying

to visit every store in Bangkok.

  9. The brand 'London' taste very similar to B&H, maybe try sourcing them as well.

    Thank you Spoonman,

I will try it. My wife telephoned her sister in Kolad, there they are also no more avail

they talked about rataban and paisi what i not fully understand. Maybe Benson & Hedges is

not more avail in TH ?

  10. I dont know if its my unabillity to speak and understand fluent thai slang

or if its even this secucurity policy which hinders us today to celebrate a new years

    celebration with firework.

Fact is that we tried 3 stores yesterday and today to buy firework

(like these big-bangs and nice rockets). Two of them have no

firework to sell, they apologiezed for dont get neccesary papers

from ampoe for sell fireworks this year. The third one has had

what i would call "Kindergarden" firework. Very small items which cant

harm any idiot at all even if he seats on it while igniting.

I dont know if its my unabillity to speak or if its even this secucurity policy.

And which policy ? From whom, elected by which people ?

  11. @TheBrit: 100% agree.

Thai electric installation you have to double check yourself. Dont trust.

And learn the word the words "sai din" สายดิน. If you dont tell you need it

they will not do any grounding (earth).

Last i tried to buy some edge conncectors at shopping mall.

Its nearly impossible to get a connector strip with a proper ground

connection here. Even if it has holes for plugs with ground,

it may be not wired/connected inside.

  12. Hello,

I am looking for a shooting range near Suphanburi.

Last i have been in Pattaya were you find a tourist

    oriented gun shooting range.

Best experience has been in Chiang Mai on a military

area shooting range where they have taken a lot

of care to tell how to carry and handle a weapon.

But here in Suphanburi there seems to be no shooting range ?

I am interested also on other points of interest

for example i already found a Paintball possibility here.

  13. @donx:

    >I have a few questions for you if you don't mind me asking.

    >Did your wife buy this land before or after you were married?

    after marriage

    >If after you were married, did your wife retain her maiden last name when she purchased the land?

i think not, will have a look on this during signing at the ampoe

    >Why are you being asked to sign this document now?

she has finished buying it so it will get into her official ownership now.

    >Do you currently live in Thailand?

no. i am not retired and have to work in europe

    ZeroNull

  14. Thank you for all the help !

After reading the replies i think its (aside of all complexity) easy.

I have to and i will sign the document.

What i learned is that i may have to register rights

on the land. (Like the right to live on it, to use it)

But this i will only do if i really plan to use it because

these rights may prevent a future sale.

Further that a building on the land can (and should) belong

    to me.

    Have a Merry Christmas

  15. Hello all,

Some time ago my wife (she is thai) finished buying land in Saraburi.

Now the Amphoe there wants me, personally, to sign a document titeled

"Letter of confirmation" and "Principle for Acquisition of Land by a Thai Wife who has Alian Spose"

It deals about that the money "is not Sin Som Ros or the matrimonial property between husband and wife".

I have never given my wife explicit money for this to buy.

So should i sign it ?

Cant i expect they give me a document i can fully understand ? (Maybe in my language)

What the devil is "Sin Som Ros" and "matrimonial property" ?

What rights i give up with this for the future (even if i dont expect to have real rights here :)

    should i consult a lawer first ?

    Or is this easy ?

  16. My wife, she is a thai, has a small company.

I think its a registered partnereship or similiar.

In the past she told me often that she has problems to do bank transfers

to outside of thailand. I dont belived that thats realy a problem.

During last holidays i examined this. It was a payment to a company

in austria i think. Amount about 200 EUR. First she told me that its absolute useles

to go to bank with the receivers account data alone. THE BANK WANTS TO SEE

AN INVOICE. So she taked the invoice and we gone to bank.

The clerk at the bank looked at the invoice long time and the she tolds

she needs more documents. So we have to return home and pick up more documents

    from the folder (contract i.e.).

Returned to the bank the clerk again studied these documents long time.

Then she asked for her boss. The intensive view process started again.

Then the have done something like a phone conference with there main branch in Bangkok.

This begins to become boring. I will only say: They the have done

the transfer after 3 (THREE) HOURS.

Today i got a phone call that the bank makes problems again.

Its a payment to microsoft, she has only the invoice seems not to

be sufficiant. The bank wants a phone number to call microsoft !

I have never heard about such practices before. From no country on the globe

    (except the former GUS states).

She has allready tried an other bank institute, the same problems.

Have you the same experiences ? How do big thai companys do there payments ?

    Whats wrong here ?

Sorry for my english (not native)

  17. Good hints, thanks.

Today I first tested the connection between the local Linux and Windows boxes.

    It is stable since hours.

So its not a hard local power drop or LAN connection problem.

(Anyway its a good idea to install an UPS for the boxes and the modem.)

Next i tested the connection to a server of the company in Bangkok.

(Its not a busy one, mostly ideling)

Same behaviour as the Europe connections !

Its usable some minutes then the connection slows down/sticks. (Sleeping)

I will try to find another server in Thailand where i can test the connection to.

For me it seems obvious that this is not an international/overseas problem.

Its beetween the modem (Name: PTI Adsl2/2+ Router) in Suphanburi and Bangkok.

I am thinking about the next steps.

Mhmmmmm ... has anybody an ADSL Line Tester avail ?

Or replace the modem ? I have to investigate if the PTI Router is a usable one ...
