  1. Where are these large numbers of "tourists who used to go to Spain (Ibiza, Benidorm etc.) and bring their "football shirt wearing" and binge drinking ways to LOS?"

How do you know they used to go to Spain? Most youngsters who go to Ibiza are extremely trendy and go for the clubs and music, this going way back to 1988/9, when I look around Pattaya for example I hardly see any 'trendy" people what I see are lots of Bamber Gascoigne looking type characters sitting in restaurants or bars with a girl half their age who looks completely bored out her mind with his charmless dribble.

I certainly don't see groups of young men in their 20 somethings doing the 'can can' up the Sois swigging from their bottles of beer.

  2. Although I have very strong feelings for Spain over the past years the resentment towards the foreigner has become more and more, I know this as I have family that have lived there for years. It has nothing to do with the stereo type drunk you get in Benidorm it is the fact that from the Costa Brava to the Costa Del Sol, the rest of Europe has had hundreds of thousands of retirement or holiday home Villas built pushing the locals further and further back inland. Yes OK it has made lots of Spanish employed on the Costa's, Taxi drivers, waitresses, Hotel staff etc but what about the thousands and thousand of others that aren't employed? It must be sole destroying watching people from other countries having great big villas built when you haven't even got a job.

Spain is a prime example of why Thailand do not allow foreigners to buy land, and to be honest I think their right. This is Thailand and the land is Thai end of story. There is already resentment from "some" Thai men about foreigners being here but that is just about the women and money side of it. Now can you imagine what would happen if they let any tom, dick or harry from any nationality buy land here and set up businesses without having to employ locals? I think the resentment would be pushed to the limits like were now seeing in Spain.

The UK is a completely opposite most foreigners who move there arrive without a pot to piss in so they work for peanuts and take jobs from the British that was once being paid a reasonable salary for. I remember seeing an add in one of the local papers in London 3 or 4 years ago, it read something like, "What ever your quote is we will half it, Polish qualified builders". That is a prime example of why the UK has so much resentment for some foreigners.

What with the global financial crisis now it has just added fuel to the fire in a very big way.

  3. I certainly wouldn't call it a mugs game unless you just got off the plane fell in love and bought a house in some girls name you've only just met.

On the other hand I have friends here from back home, they have been here years and to be honest if I had listened to everything they told me when I first got here I would be sitting in a bar facing the wall not talking or trusting anything or anyone that even came near me! Some of them have large amounts of money in the bank but do not own absolutely anything here expect the clothes in their rented wardrobes. They are paranoid everyone here is trying to rip you off, don't trust anyone, don't do this, don't do that!

I look at it like this, I want to spend as many years as possible here even though I have to go back to the UK I will return again and again. I want something in my life to say it's mine here in Thailand and I own it. So I bought myself a nice large condo. It gives me a purpose here, a reason, something that's mine and where I can touch base and call home or what is the point? You want to be another one in sat in the bar with absolutely <deleted>*k all but a hangover every day! Sod that for a laugh.

Buying property in Thailand is not a mugs game. It all depends on your personal point of view.

BOSS: A lot of young men would give their eye teeth for a job like this.

JIMMY: Oh yeah, well find one then.

    BOSS: I beg your pardon?

JIMMY: I said find one then. Cause d'you know what you can do with your job? You can take it, and your eye teeth, and your franking machine, and all that other rubbish I have to go about with, and you can shove it. RIGHT UP YOUR ARSE!!

    The Goodfellas

Tommy DeVito: You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fuc_ked up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to fuc_kin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

    Danny Dyer. Football Factory:

What else are you gonna do on a Saturday? Sit in your fuc_kin' armchair wankin' off to Pop Idols? Then try and avoid your wife's gaze as you struggle to come to terms with your sexless marriage? Then go and spunk your wages on kebabs, fruit machines and brasses? fuc_k that for a laugh! I know what I'd rather do. Tottenham away, love it!

    Danny Dyer. The Business:

My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. It said if you don't want to end up in here, stay away from crime, women and drugs. Trouble is, that don't leave you much else to do, does it?

  5. hotrod4098 I think your on a wind up surely?

Mind you I met this bird here she "was" married apparently the x husband bought her 3 expensive diamond rings, each time she told her overseas husband "it fell off my finger" when he came back he would simply replace it with another ring!!! I mean what planet are some people from ?

  6. Regular local anesthetic same as you have when having teeth extracted.

There is no real after pain to be honest believe it or not, just a little sore.

Food I will be eating soup and rice and things like that for the next few weeks. It's amazing how well you adapt to body changes for the last 3 months I've learnt to chew on my gums. I had one of those full dentures made temporally until all the implant work is finished, i threw it away, I hated it and rather have no teeth then that thing rattling about in my mouth!

Cleaning mouth good old fashion water and some Listerine for a nice taste and smell.

I would say after todays experience having many implants drilled and over 4 hours of squeezing the chair arms it warrants an over night stay with out question. Even though there is no real pain you are very disorientated once you stand up after that amount of time. An overnight stay is not an option in most dental surgeries I would of thought that would only be made available if you chose the hospital to carry out the work.

  7. Hey Pete I just had 6 implants screwed in today at "Dental For You" on south Pattaya road opposite Tuk-Com.

I had my teeth out 3 months ago and had many xrays and 3 different "templates" made up until they got the perfect bite algimentet for my jaw.

I was in their 4 hours today and to be honest id had enough by then. They cut your gum and peel back the skin to expose the bone of your jaw. The only part i found really uncomfortable was the stitching at the end there must of been over 20 at least.

Ive had a few hours kip and feel fine now. Just have to wait another 8 weeks to heel then the actual teeth are put into place along with bridges totaling 12 teeth (thats just the top having bottom done next year).

I was quoted over a million Baht for top and bottom at BPH and 660,000.00 where im having them done now. Big saving if your prepared to take the risk of not having the facilities at hand of a hospital if need be like onzestan mentioned.
