Also expires when you have no UK address.
Again if out of the UK or EU area for over 2 years becomes invalid.
I sent mine back by post in 2007.
would you have to resit the driving test should you return to the UK?
I called the dvla when i was back, as i was a little concerned about the 1000 quid fine for not updating address. As expected they had no solution as you cant register a foreign address. They didnt however, instruct me to send it back to them. So i maintain my license and use my fathers address. Its a useful license to have.

I did the trip as planned
We flew with airasia oneway, but i bought cheap tickets out to singapore with tiger air.
On check in though, they didnt ask to see anything, didnt even mention onward travel.
I called airasia beforehand to confirm what you have copied from the website, and they did. They also said that they wouldn't accept an onward ferry ticket (Langkawi to lipe). So i think the fact they didnt ask at check in was probably an oversight, not the norm.
Immigration in penang didnt ask the missus anything, but asked me how long i was staying.

The 530i will be the 2 litre unit, like the 330i was (briefly), before it got a boot full of batteries and became the 330e out here.
The 3 litre 6 unit is now designated as a _40i

So conclusion is, if you do it by yourself nothing has changed, just passport, copy passport and 2 photos. But if you use the agents you will need to supply additional documents(i asked at jims place and he confirmed this).

If thats how you read the above, then yes.
I see it as you may be asked. Easier to have and not need than vice versa imo

I dont have a re entry permit. I am trying to apply for a new tourist visa. But need bank statement and dated air ticket. I arrived here today hoping that i would get my new tourist visa tomorrow (friday) since the embassy is closed on the weekends and my visa expires this sunday. So you think the best advice is for me to just cross the border tomorrow back to thailand? I havent done land crossings yet. I heard we are only allowed twice? I just want clarity if i wont have any problems on my way back to thailand at the border. Once i get to thailand (if ever) i will process all my documents then back to laos to apply for a proper tourist visa again. Im just worried that i will not get knocked out at the border.

You keep saying your visa expires on sunday, this is confusing: Your thai visa expired the day you left thailand. Its gone, forget about it.
my advice is try the bridge tomorrow. If that fails then read up on the requirements in vientiene, laos, as you could take a bus there to apply.
Other than that youd need to fly somewhere else to apply.
Try the easiest first; the bridge

Hi
I arrived here this morning from thailand then went straight to the thai embassy. If i go back to thailand tomorrow and just do a border crossing would they still allow me since my thai tourist visa expires on the 26th.

Do you have a re-entry permit? If you dont know what this is, then you dont have one
if you dont have one, then no, as soon as you exit thailand that visa is finished.
You can try re-enter thailand using a visa exempt entry.

I am pretty sure that philippines are on the visa exempt list. I dont have a bank account as of now. All my money comes in via western union or moneygram, i told them if i can present that and they said no. Its just so difficult to do everything here in laos, so i was hoping if i could just come in on a 15 day visa first. Fix all of my documents while in thailand and come back here in laos to apply for a 60 day visa. I dont want to get stopped at the border, so if anyone please can give me an advice i would be very grateful. My tourist visa expires this sunday the 26th.

Well, as I understand it now, all countries get 30 days at a land border, but only 2 times per calander year, so you should get 30 days at the bridge, which is extendable, giving you time to sort your paperwork out. Not having a bank account means this is your only option, right? There is no way around the consulates requirements....
Youve said your tourist visa expires sun 26th, you mean ur thai visa or Laos? If you're in laos now your thai visa has gone already. If you mean your laos visa then you dont have time to try at the thai embassy in Vientiene, unless you can extend your stay in Laos, and for this i have no idea
good luck

I cant comment whether they will let you cross back into thailand or not on a visa exempt (for me they did, UK passport) but i just wanted to say it doesnt have to be a thai bank account. If you can print an online statement showing at least the equivalent of 20k baht it would be accepted. An onward flight ticket is also easy, google: fly onward
good luck

The defamation laws here runs a close second to the 'talking about the unmentionables' law, and it really hobbles the country in making real progess.
Its sad that the laws only protect those that ought to be exposed, those that run the country, and those that influence the people in power. Even though all of them are rich beyond belief, its never enough to take their stranglehold off, and let the country flourish.
Even more sad that they know it, and yet still continue to open defamation cases against people who tell the truth, rather than address the issue

And again, no details on the 'fancy' cameras. The pic may just be for illustration, but it looks like a normal camera.
Maybe for speed offences the bib have been trained in taking 2 pics with a precise interval..?

Just got back from penang today with a new setv(my 3 rd). They didnt ask me or anyone else about ticket out, financial proof or rental contract. This is just some bs the agents there have come up with to make some moore money,by interest i went in to 3 different agents on chulia street and asked, sure enough they all asked for this or it could be "sorted" without these documents for 150 ringit...But the embassy only ask for passport, copy passport, application and 2 photos. same as before, nothing changed there. screw the agents.
they dont make anything extra if I supply the documents.
Anyway, its good to know that doing it yourself doesn't have these requirements.
Its possible I guess that coming through an agent they aren't seeing you, cant question you so have asked the agents for this, who knows?
Cost me 340b for the flight ticket, and the visa was free, so even I went myself I think I'd still have the paperwork at hand, just incase

Bit careless if you ask me why not hire the car with the UK licence because if unfortunate and be involved in an accident the hired car could be found not to be insured l guess..
Sure. I wasnt aware, and nor was the hire company.
I walk in, say thai license ok? They say no probs.
I wanted to use the foreign license so in the event of any fines, they wouldnt pursue it too hard....
Seeing that the police fined me on my uk license (which being non resident i cant officially have) in the event of an accident id probably be covered under that, or the qatari one, or the korean one.
Regardless it didnt happen, and i now know for future visits.

Interesting that the thai temp license isn't valid outside of thailand
ive hired a car twice in the uk using one. Of course the hire shop isn't expected to know the ins and outs of thai licences (the UK doesnt have temp licenses).
Regardless, when i got stopped for speeding, they did me on my UK License so i could win 3 points :)

Well right! There probably is an option for an under the table payment to fix it.
I have no idea where or with whom one would initiate this, do you?
he walks into local immi office offering cash, I think he'd leave in handcuffs on his way to the IDC ?
OP says hes got cash, you gotta wonder why he didnt get a visa based on child..
and only learnt of the bans a month ago..
not much sympathy TBH
He should think about marrying his gf so he can take the family with him whilst he serves out the ban

He can't do anything. He would need to pay 20,000 baht overstay and would be banned 10 years.
If he has no money he will not get to his flight and end up in Immigration Detention Center until he has 20,000 baht for his overstay fine and can produce a flight ticket.
He will still be blacklisted for 10 years.
To clear an overstay of such length without getting blacklisted will cost you xxx,xxx amount of baht.
So which is it?

Sadly this video does nothing to improve road safety in Thailand.
What it is a racist attack designed to reinforce prejudices about Thai people.
there are no more stupid drivers in Thailand than any other country.
What WOULD help road safety is an intelligent analysis of WHY and HOW this incident took place.
Oh deer
do you drive here?

Surely not, if the above is true.

Already clarified it's not for visa purposes, but if you get asked at the border/airport, they are very happy to see a platinum card, and they will completely change their attitude. Tust me, poor teachers would never be able to get anywhere near a card like this... LOL
Do you have a platinum card by chance?
