  1. sorry forget the last post. I just called them and it's not running tomorrow :-(

Is there any similar services like this that anybody has a link to? Thanks

Come on....just head on down to Arcade Station around 7 in the morning and get on a bus to Mae Sai. Too late for VIP I'm sure. Buy your return ticket once you arrive. Take a motorcycle taxi to the border at Mae Sai/Tachilek, stamp out of Thailand, stamp into Burma, turn around, take care of your visa business and stamp back into Thailand, get on a sawng-tao back to the bus station. Ride the bus home. You'll be back in Chiang Mai by dinner time. One would have to be brain-dead to not be able to do this simple task on their own.

I'm not as old and wise as you folk so I just wanted to make sure my first visa run to Mae Sai would be easy. As I've now seen how simple it is I will probably try and take my motorbike up there next time and make a day of it. Lets hope i'm not too brain-dead on that day or I'm afraid I might never return :)

  2. Thanks a lot for the help so far. I'm looking at a few houses today, mainly around the Chang Clan area.

I'm not really looking for a house in a gated community though, but thank you for suggesting those areas :)

Are there any other suggestions of areas within the center where I may find a house? - One last try before I let this thread die

  3. Hi, I've just made the move from Phuket to Chiang Mai as I needed a change of scenery and I am looking to rent a house or apartment for 6+ months. I'm currently staying in a short term serviced apartment so I have 2 weeks to find somewhere that I like. The problem that I'm having is that I don't really know which are the best areas to be staying in are, I'd hate to commit to somewhere to later find the area isn't too great or we are too far away from things. I'm definitely looking to stay within 1-2km of the center of the city though, preferably as close to the moat as possible.

I'm mainly looking for a house, with 2+ bedrooms, a garden and somewhat decent size (200sqm+ would be nice). My budget is no more than 25k baht a month, although i'd prefer more around the 18-20k baht mark. Do you think this is being realistic at all or is it too hard to find a house right in the city center?

also, which area would you guys suggest I start looking and what area is nicest? The one's I have in consideration are Nimmanhamin Rd area, Chang Klan Area, Mahidol Rd area and Chang Phuak Rd area. Is there somewhere else i should be looking instead?

Finally, does anyone know of any websites that could be useful, or have they seen any actual houses that could fit this description?

Sorry for the rambling post and thank you in advance for any help!

  4. Hey guys I've just moved to Chiang Mai and I am looking to join a gym that can offer personal trainers. What are the best gyms close to the city center? Does anyone on here have any experience with personal trainers at all and could recommend any?

Thanks for your help in advance!

  5. Apparently there was a pretty serious incident near Chalong circle last night. To quote my friend who messaged me he said "Some local guy was chasing another guy with a gun and then he jumped into a pickup truck and tried to get away at full speed. He smashed right into a minivan packed with tourists and a few were killed." I think it happened sometime late last night.

Does anyone no anymore about this or can provide a link, I don't really know where I should be looking for Phuket news

  6. do the same rules apply for motorbikes as they do for cars?

I know a fair few people who regularly go out locally from bar to bar on their motorbikes and have never had any problems in nearly a year.

where are the main check points in Phuket?

  7. "Phuket Gazette Classifieds under "rental properties", also there is a lady around named Welta who is in the rental business. Maybe google "Properties by Welta Phuket" and I'll bet her contact info comes up. That's a big budget so you should have no problem."

will do this now, thanks :-)

"there is some good deals at the momnet in Laguna on there houses, they are about 4 bedrooms at 100K month"

You wouldn't think ive been here 6 months, but where is Laguna? :s

  8. Hi, at the end of august I'm going to have to leave my currently rented house in Kata and move somewhere else. Does anyone have any suggestions on Houses to rent, or realestate companys to go visit? I know just driving round and knocking on doors is probably the best, and I will be doing that in the next coming weeks, but I'd just like a few starting points to look at before driving around aimlessly :D

I'm looking for anywhere from a 3-5 bedroom house and will pay upto around 100-130k baht a month. I would want to rent for 6 months in total. Like i said just any suggestions on people to go talk to, or specific areas to look would be great :o

    thanks in advance

  9. I'm heading back to England in a couple of weeks for a wedding and would like a nice new suit made :-) Does anyone have any recommendations of a great place to go in Phuket. There are just so many to choose from and I feel it would be hit and miss if I just randomly walk into a tailors and hop for the best. I'm just looking for somewhere friendly, with great suits, good price etc... thanks alot for your help
