  1. Ron Garl is the designer so it seems and according to his website the course is still at the design stage. Good job i didnt book through one of these third parties, would be waiting a while for a tee time...

Ron Garl indeed was the designer and it has been opened for play since before the floods. It got really damaged during the floods, but all back in good shape. It's off the outer ring road. Going from BKK East take the Rangsit exit and go towards Nakon Nayok. It's about 6 kilometers or so after you get off the ring road and right across from the Big C at Klong 6. You have to go past the Big C and hang a u-turn and then come back to it. Take the small bridge directly accross from the Big C sign and then make a right at the T junction 100m or so further on. Entrance is down on the left.

There are two more courses planned for the same complex, one designed by Andy Die and the other from Lee Schmidt. Have heard that Lee's course will be going in next, but not 100% confirmed as of yet.

Thanks very much for that info. Have you played it? what did you think?

I have not played the game for a few years, but spent 10 months building the course for the Royal Gems Group. It's a nice replica course with sone interesting holes that are beautiful to look at from the tees. Amen corner came out nicely as most of the other holes taken from Augusta and St. Andrews. Ron could not duplicate the holes exactly due to copy right laws, and so the main dirt contractor moved the dirt as per plans and then we (Shapers) came in and had to make it look like the photos of the actual holes. It was a major pain bit all in all it worked out.

I think anyone who plays it will walk away feeling good that he did.

  4. Hi,

    yes that is right

It is a fun course with 9 great holes from around the world and the back 9 from Augusta National.

Let me know if you are interested in playing. I can help book for 4 or 5 ball groups weekdays only.

    Best Regards

    Mark

Mark - do you have any directions or website. Can't find anything on Internet

    This link works for me.

im pretty sure this royalgems you mention is not the same course. It mentions nothing of the dream arena course.

  5. I'm an American widower with a 14 year old half American/Thai Son. He's presently going to Varee School up in Chaing Mai, but I'm considering moving to Pak Chong so I can be closer and spend more time with him.

My question is, are there any schools that have english programs and have not huge classes in Pak Chong? I'm not interested in St. Stephens, so possibly there are other alternatives? He already speaks, reads and writes in Thai and English, so want to keep that part going along with the other usual classes needed for university acceptance one day.

Thanks for any information you may be able to share.

  6. that is just a measly 7200 baht per month, why don't you ask yourself is it fair to pay that amount for a live in gardener cum security man cum hand man?

I actually pay him 9,000baht per month, plus house and all utilities, plus 1 month bonus, holidays and bike.

He was earning about half that in his previous job.

You are a newbie, and know not what you post, so I'll go easy on you this time. Yes, I think 9,000 is fair, but he doesn't, so I am forced to pay what someone will work for and that is called "market forces". Thailand essentially has zero unemployment so employees have plenty of choice. I am ok with that.

In answer to you next question, no I could not live or 9,000 baht per month, in fact I cant live on 9,000baht per day. But chances are, everywhere you go where Thai people work are probably paid around the same, or often less if the owner can get away with it.

Bringing Western logic into this debate is flawed and ignorant. Go read some of the many other threads debating the minimum wage to understand.

Well, I also live on Samoeng Road up the hill a ways and pay my maid 7,000 per month and have had her for 4 years now. I do let her and her husband and kid stay on property as well as buy all the rice and water. I personally don't think that's being cheap and they seem very happy to have a nice place to live and not have to work all that hard. I think it's all in how you treat them and if they want an extra day off here and there for what ever reasons, I always let them go. But on the other hand, if they do something totally off the wall then I put my foot down and they get the message. So as the end of the day, it pays to treat staff no differently then you would your own family, to a certain extent. Respect goes along way and it make no difference what social class your working with, people are people and need to be treated as such.

  7. Not quite as you can buy a HD from Richco in Chiangmai with a full warranty, same deal, and supported by Powerstation

There are a few exceptions, but certainly not safe to say that Power Station will honor warrantee work on bikes bought from somewhere besides them. Richy up in CM gets the majority of his parts from PS so they have a good relationship with each other, for now anyway. If you have bought a late model still under warrantee HD from Panee (Siam Speedway) they will not do any warrantee work what so ever on it.

  8. It surprises me that there hasn't been a government dick yet who has announced that they will file a case in court against the singer.

But...if he ever comes to Thailand, he'll no doubt be pulled aside at immigration as I'm certain he's been flagged, unfortunately.

  9. Yeah, most of the good ol'e boys have gone and along with that all the rich history they were able to share. I for one preferred to talking and shooting the shit with these guys as opposed to the younger crowd back then.

Being on the subject, does anyone here remember an American guy called "Gator" that used to hang around George's place as a handy man and so forth? Someone had told me he had died but I've not been able to confirm it.

Sadly true, Gator died quite sometime back.

Qh ok, I thought that it was true. He was a one of a kind guy and you couldn't help but to like him. Thanks for the info !

  10. I've been thinking of buying one of these, but not sure of the quality. This guys been listing these on Craigslist for quite some time so I would imagine he has quite a few? Seems a bit cheap, but then again you never know unless you try.

    that's actually my pan laugh.png

Friend of mine is selling them through Craigslist. Also sausage King has them on their website.

    sent from my Android phone

    Ah, ok cool. Thanks!

will see tomorrow if it's shiny,

otherwise i think i wasted money'

'As a matter of fact it did happen to spray on the disk brake too'

'Would 91 gasoline take away the WD-40 ? i once had an accident with someone making a U-turn right out between some cars, i managed to avoid collision by locking the wheels, but fell down at the stop, so i have had some serious thought about greatly reducing breaking power to punish those idiots from now on'

Ummm, is it April Fools already?

I think it must be April fools day. Surely no one would spray a whole bike with WD40. But then again......

A guy that lives in my condo building sprays his Lifan all over with Sonax before he goes O/S on a trip. Maybe it helps prevent the spread of rust.....

I guess it might help to keep the rust at bay when left parked for long term, but it would freak me out to do myself. All I've ever used WD40 for was to loosen old hard to get out bolts, keeping my bit lubricated when drilling steel, taking the sweak out of a door hinge and things like that. I spend good money for polishes for the bike and use allot of elbow grease as I've always maintained that by washing and polishing your bike your self, you find all the loose bits before they fall off. For someone to think that they can simply spray a bike down with an aerosol can of something to keep it looking like new just doesn't work for me. Different strokes for different folks I suppose :)

  12. Has anyone else seen what they consider inappropriate, the height of tack or just an over ambitious venture/makeover in the wrong place?

    The Amora Thapae hotel? wink.png

I had to think of the old Pattaya pumpkin house, I believe it was in soi 10 or 11 in the middle of an overgrown yard. It's no more of course. It's another hotel now.

It's on Soi 10, I lived next door to it for 3 years. It was a bit of a landmark back in those days and not hard to give directions to your house when all you had to do was tell someone you lived next to the Pumpkin house:) Sort of miss those days...thanks for the remind thumbsup.gif

Those were the days... I found the picture.

Jezzz, it sure does bring those days back. That's the rear of the pumpkin house and i lived right next door to the right in this pic. Thanks for posting!
