in the samkong area just past Bangkok international next set of light's, RHS. Now its a Tops outlet !!

I find this thread very interesting as I have long time thought thought that McD in Patong is more expensive than in Phuket Town. I'm thinking that this is a more subtle sort of 'dual pricing'. As mostly tourists/Falangs in Patong and McD are trying to attract Thais in Phuket Town. I suppose McD can justify higher rates in Patong as I have heard they pay enormous rent rates in Bangla, the 2 beach front Rd outlets, and Jungceylon.

No not calling them dive shops, only that they have snorkel gear and usually cheaper prices for the same gear.. Also with central (unless things have changed) there was quite a bit more selection and choice. I got a really good quality wide viewing angle mask for 1200 or 1400 and saw the same mask in a dive shop for 2800, the volume sales v specialist sales approach I guess.

Here in the south of Phuket a many gas stations close at sundown for some reason, and after 10pm....forget it. If you are in a car, planning to do much driving at night, and getting low, you have to really plan ahead. I had to use the roadside sellers with my car once becaue I didn't realize I was almost out. These roadside sellers and the newer small self serve pumps are the only way to get gas at night. I always wondered if the reason the big stations closed so early was to support the local economy that resells the gas at the roadside stalls. Crazier things have happened!

If you are here on an extension of stay based on marriage the requirement is 400,000 in the bank OR 40,000 income a month. Not both. Some immigration office also want to see a Thai bankbook with some money in it, but that doesn't need to be 40,000 a month. If you keep something like 20,000 in there it will be enough.

If you go based on retirement you can choose the combination of money in the bank and yearly income totaling 800,000.

In both cases income from abroad must be certified by your embassy. There is no need to bring that income every month into your Thai bank account.

Is it posible to deposit 500,000 baht and bring in a lower amount,say 30.000 month total for year 300.000 bringing the combination to 800,000. With the down turn of the pound to baht, i have to use uk savings to make up the shot fall from pensions income. no problem as i have savngs uk and and an addtional sum in thailand. however regulations require a governent income of 40,000 min

Everybody was playing Pai Gao poker and other Asian card games.

He said they did open up a blackjack table for him though, but he ended up being the only player.

Go to Kiat Travel on Chumphon to arrange your trip to the Andaman Club. They have a daily minibus Visa Run service and have a good reputation for service and reliability.

Farang Bar and Fame can also arrange the ticket but the service will be from Kiat (same Soi as Farang Bar).

This is the only daily door to door service to the Andaman Club and it departs Chumphorn between 12:30-1:00pm depending delays in the ferry schedule from Koh Tao.

Andaman Club use the largest boats and they are all enclosed and even have a good set of safety equipment. The number of Mercedes, BMWs, Volvos etc at their carpark is evidence of the status of the Thais going to the casino.

Normally you are only at the casino for approx 1 hour if you are doing a Visa Run but the overnight rates are very reasonable and you could return the following day.

I have never encountered problems after regular trips over the last 10 years or so. Normally 3-4 trips there each year.

all posters thanks for info.and yes the road is good i have used it often and in passing, i live on phuket, traffic is a pain, but once one gets out and up though Thailand the roads are good, great places to stay along the way just by dropping in.and great places to see, All the way to the farthest northen borders. just go round Bangkok, i was hoping to find some one who had done it from phuket, the whole thing or a tour company. thanks ozzy though . not sure if the name is correct but i know one can do visa run to this island, and there is a casino on it, up past Ranong, i have never been to a casino, this seems to be the nearest

whilst i have travelled the whole of Thailands borders, i have not crossed over to have look at the many casinos just over the border in other area's
