  1. Considering Yingluck's promise that bringing home her brother Thaksin is not a priority, I wonder how fast the priority promises will be implemented.

Or maybe I just misunderstood the term "priority" .

Bringing home Thaksin not being a priority probably meant Bringing home Thaksin is the real and only goal of the government. Then step down and let him run he show.

here we go again, TIT :whistling: :whistling: :jap:

  2. Yep, if you're pro feminist power (which is a little absurd in this case as the rise of Yingluck is about as feminist a story as a cake baking contest) you wouldn't object to a female leader being tested in EXACTLY the same level of hardball tactics as a male leader. So far, I think she has been given too much of a pass. Time to man up, Yingluck, or get out of the kitchen.

You mean "get back to the kitchen", don't you?

I doubt that Yingluck has ever seen a kitchen

    I second that !:rolleyes:B)

    Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra

Beautiful, intelligent and elegant Yingluck Shinawatra, sister of former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra may well become the first woman Prime Minister of Thailand if the rumours within the main opposition party in the Kingdom materialized.

Take off the make up, take away the her brothers money B) and you get an ordinary thai woman :bah:

  4. cant understand anyone paying for retirement visa service. It takes 10 minutes to get from the very friendly immigration officers in Hua Hin. It costs only Bt1,900. I never had any problem in Chiangmai either. Some years back an immigration officer told me they did not like "visa agents".

It's the same in KHON KHAN, 1900 AND FRIENDLY IMM. OFF. Done in 10min.

  5. You lot are a sad bunch. You all cry for justice, but are ready to pass your own judgement on this girl before she has been properly convicted.

And before you all get on your high horses about me defending her, I'm not..I'm quite happy for a court to decide whether she is guilty or not after reviewing all the facts and evidence (and not from reading newspaper reports like the wannabe judges on this forum)

Listen to yourselves almost baying for blood.. "lock her up, throw away the key" you say.. thank god you are not part of the legal system in any country.

This whole thing is a tradgedy.. for all involved.

    totster

Admirable sentiments with which one would agree. The problem is not however the people baying for blood for they are obviously wrong.

The general issue is whether the rich and privileged should continue to evade justice in Thailand. In this particular case we must await the outcome though all sadly the signs are that the traditional patterns will apply.

It is also interesting why this case has raised so much heat among ordinary Thais at this particular time.

So your comment about those who bay for blood is well made, but the truth is you have also missed the main point as the dead victims families would tell you.

  7. Thai navy joins anti-piracy mission off Somalia

BANGKOK, September 10, 2010 (AFP) - Thailand joined the fight against piracy in the Indian Ocean on Friday, sending nearly 400 marines on two vessels to help police the lawless waters off Somalia, the navy confirmed.

The Thai navy deployed 386 troops on two warships, the Similan and the Pattani, for the 19-day journey to the Gulf of Aden -- one of the world's busiest maritime trade routes.

The 60-day mission marks the first time Thailand has contributed to an international maritime taskforce.

The international armada, which currently includes regional neighbours China, Singapore, Malaysia and India, has been patrolling the Gulf of Aden since 2008 in a bid to stop pirates from hijacking commercial vessels.

Several Thai vessels have been hijacked by Somali pirates, including three fishing boats with a total of 77 crew members aboard who were seized in April.
