  1. Good news, I hope the fish and bird read this...

What about photo that shows the oil sunken, and a drop of water under the microscope...

there aren't many seabirds here because the gulf has been overfished, I've seen posts about the corals but they're not very impressive because of the previous pollution here before any foreigners noticed. further east are some islands where there could have been damage done to turtle nesting sites, there are a lot of islands between here and Pattaya the Royal Thai Navy doesn't allow you to land on.

p.s. after the video of the monk throwing a dog around a temple this will be forgotten, apparently it did it's number 2 where it shouldn't have.

A monk threw a dog around a temple? Do you have a link to that video, I didn't see it on google.

  2. Both of my excursions (to Cambodia and Vietnam) will be separate and both by air, so it looks like the 60 day triple entry visa is the way to go if I'm looking at everything correctly.

If I was to add one more excursion, where is the immigration office to get one more re-entry permit? Is it in Bangkok only, or is there one in Phuket and Pattaya as well? Thanks for all your assistance.

  3. Pirate Bay Founder Arrested in Cambodia

Pirate Bay founder Gottfrid Svartholm has been arrested in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. Svartholm, known online by his nickname Anakata, was sentenced to one year in jail for his involvement in The Pirate Bay but has been missing for some time. Svartholm was wanted internationally but exact details as to why he was arrested have not yet been made public.

Pirate Bay founder Gottfrid Svartholm was arrested by Cambodian police on Thursday in Phnom Penh, the city that he made his home several years ago.

According to local sources he was arrested in an apartment above the Cadillac Bar on the riverfront, a place where he is known to have stayed in the past.

Neither Cambodian nor Swedish authorities have commented on the grounds of the arrest.

The 27-year-old became wanted internationally after he failed to return to Sweden to serve his 12 month jail sentence earlier this year.

Gottfrid’s lawyer Ola Salomonsson thinks the arrest could be related to The Pirate Bay case, but this hasn’t been announced officially.

“As far as I understand it is because he is on an international wanted list,” he said.

While there is no extradition treaty between Cambodia and Sweden the lawyer believes his client could be transferred to his home country eventually.

Gottfrid has been battling poor health ever since The Pirate Bay appeal in 2010. He failed to attend that hearing due to an illness which left him too sick to leave hospital in Cambodia.

Then, despite having supported his original absence with a medical certificate, Gottfrid failed to appear at a subsequent hearing. This prompted the Court of Appeal to finalize the initial verdict of one year jail time and a fine of $1.1 million.

All this time the Pirate Bay founder was nowhere to be found. Neither his lawyer nor his old Pirate Bay friends had heard from him. Sources in Cambodia, however, told TorrentFreak last year that Gottfrid was still in bad shape.

Gottfrid should have returned to Sweden to begin serving his sentence January 2nd this year, but again he failed to appear.

    Grandmas Brothel Visits Pattaya

    19 March 2012 | news Dennis Krog

The Danish television program, Mormors Bordel (Grandmas Brothel) shown on Danish TV2, just aired its first episode of the season. The episode takes the viewers on a trip to Pattaya, Thailand - looking for love.

The concept of the program is more or less the two elderly hosts, Suzanne Bjerrehuus and Karen Thisted, who in front of the camera argue their very different views on prostitution. In this first episode the two women are trying to find out if it is possible to find real love in a place like Pattaya.

During the episode the viewers are taken to a Danish bar, where Karen Thisted in her characteristic manner shows and expressed her feelings about the Danish owner, while Suzanne Bjerrehuus takes on the role as a peacemaker.

The first episode also visits the famous Pattaya Walking Street, where both the Danish ladies are overwhelmed by the level of prostitution.

The episode is available online for free. To watch it, please follow this link.

  5. I prefer rice over potatoes. I like my rice steamed or boiled and it goes with Thai food way better than the spud. Baked potatoes are healthy, but then they're usually loaded up with a bunch of unhealthy stuff. I try to stay away from fried foods as much as possible, and a lot of potatoes are fried in some manner or another.

  6. This whole thing seems ridiculous to me. How can you have a person convicted of a crime in Thailand and sentenced to jail be allowed to openly interfere in political campaigns and now be nominated for a post? The proper procedure should be to first be cleared of all crimes and then see about the others, it doesn't matter if the conviction was falsely run through or not. The opposition will not sit idly by while all this goes on, not if Thai history has anything to say about it. smh

  7. I stay out of politics in Thailand. I just wanted to post this list of Thailand's recent coups, rebellions, revolts and revolutions for those people that seem to think another coup, military action, judicial action, revolt, etc. won't happen again. In the big picture, the more amazing result would be for trouble not to happen after the new regime takes office.

    Palace Revolt (1912)

    1932 Revolution

    June 1933 coup

    Boworadet Rebellion (October 1933)

    Rebellion of the Sergeants (1935)

    Songsuradet Rebellion (1939)

    1947 coup

    Army General Staff Plot (1948)

    Palace Rebellion (1949)

    Manhattan Rebellion (June 1951)

    Silent Coup (November 1951)

    Peace Rebellion (1952)

    1957 coup

    1958 coup

    1964 Rebellion

  8. Cheapest way is always overland, but due to lack of time you will have to rely on air travel. In this case cheapest solution would be BKK-Hanoi with Air Asia or Nok Air which you can book through website, then Hanoi to Luang Prabang with Vietnam Airlines then flight to Siem Rep also Vietnam Airlines needs to booked through an agent.

Thanks for the info, I'll check this out.

  9. Can anyone recommend a cheap way to visit Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos? All I really want is one day in Laos, one day in Vietnam, and 2 days at Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The package deals have gone up on these since I last looked 5 years ago. I was thinking of looking for a Bangkok based travel agency to find deals, but when I was there in May they were still all expensive and they didn't have any packages for so short a trip. I looked online at travel agents and airline sites trying to make something myself, but it seems like a lost cause. Is there a cheap way to do this that I've perhaps overlooked? If so let me know. Thanks.

  10. Buy a new SIM-card with a number no one knows and sms him the bad news.

It´s up to him to believe it or not. Then you have done more than enough and

if it leeds to their divorce it can never be traced back to you.

That's the best advice right here. Buy a new SIM card and SMS him only the info that he needs to know and make sure it can't be traced back to you or your family. After the SMS, dispose of the new SIM card.
