1. I need to make a transfer from one of my Thai bank accounts (SCB and Kasikorn) to HSBC Thailand. In the online banking, neither of them have 'HSBC Thailand' as an available bank; however, they both have "Hongkong and Shanghai Corporation LTD." as an option in creating a 3rd party. While I believe they are one and the same, I was hoping someone has experience in this matter. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Is Irish AirCon the old place that used to be run by Will Purser? (Or, perhaps, is he still around?) He installed one unit and serviced two of my old units, and the work was top notch.

I think Irish Aircon is run by a guy named Seamus. I have found the work to be outstanding and use them exclusively.

  3. If you can locate them i think Real brand helmets are good. They are made in thailand but seem to have a decent safety rating. I have not seen them in pattaya

A few of the Mityon dealerships have them. Best selection I have seen is the new one on Theppesit Rd. It has an upstairs with a nice selection of gear.

  4.
i'm sorry, but i do have to admit that i'm under the opinion that this thread should be up for the thread of the day competition. it's really a silly question but after trying to be funny and failing (but i did give the correct answer), i have put serious thought into this and i can ease all of your concerns on the double.

there are plenty of petrol stations in the Jomtien Area. they are typically wooden benches, sometimes bamboo is the wood of choice. most likely because bamboo looks like "hey, we're having a party, come on in!". anyway, you will find these benches lined with expired Johnny Walker bottles and the sort filled with gasoline and being available for purchase and vehicle consumption at approximately 25-30baht per bottle.

but, if you don't like that answer, i have another one: because this isn't America. Jomtien does not need everything, everywhere. drive 2 miles up Thepprasit. no problems, have gas, can buy.

my question now... does Jomtien require such an amenity? if you start putting in gas stations, where will we put all the 7-11s? on Thepprasit? oh, hel_l no...

LOL, he want to know why there are no petrol stations on the beach side of Pattaya, not Jomtien. Confusing as the post title says Jomtien, but the post body asks about Pattaya.

That being said... I am from the USA and I find it very odd that there are no petrol stations on second or third road of Pattaya.
  5. The Power Buy in Central has Denon as well as other good brands.

My last purchase was made at Piyanas Electic located at the Tuk.com in Siracha. I have never been to the store, but made the purchase by phone. The phone number is 081-917-1378 and I spoke with Dew who I believe is the owner. The equipment was brought to me and I paid at that time. They have a website at www.piyanas.com.

  6. Stopped in last night around 9:30 and ordered a cheeseburger for takeaway. The two girls working, both very pleasant, did a very good job in preparing my food. Brought it home, ate it and enjoyed it. It still had a bit of the 'Thai beef' taste, but overall it was good. I do not know if it is the 'best' burger in town, but I have not found anything as good anywhere near that price.

  7. I live in Jomtien Beach Condo building A2 and currently have TOT as my internet provider. When I got it, about a year ago, both TT&T and CAT said they could NOT provide ADSL service in my condo. Recently I have seen some advertising for CAT CDMA and am interested as my service from TOT ranges from poor to terrible. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Was looking at the health insurance provided by Thai Visa and found there are two different plans. Plan 2 provides greater coverage than plan 1. Any thoughts as to whether the increase in coverage is worth the extra cost. I live in Jomtien if that matters.

The choice of the benefit level depends on which hospitals you are looking at to use. One needs to check your hospital of choice and ask them for their prices.

Ok, thanks. I will be back in Thailand March 5th, maybe I could come by the office and someone can give me some help?
