  1. I have a multi entry O visa that has a "Enter Before Date of 30 October 2014" I have just got back from Burma (Myanmar) and was given an until date of 30 November. My question is this - I am aming to leave Thailand on 20th October and returning on 29th October. Will I be given another 90 days on my passport when I enter on the 29th? Therefore giving me until 29th January before I have to leave Thailand and get new visa. Sorry if this question has been asked before - thank you

  2. These are the danger words "but not yet started construction"

We bought land in KC a few years back long story short we finaly got our money back as the land wasn't even officially owned by the well respected company that sold it to us!

We have seen many projects advertised but not many of them actually get off the ground - just do your home work and suggest you spend a little bit more time on the island then just a quick holiday visit to get to know all the pros and cons - good luck

  3. I have contacted a number of Koh Chang’s larger Thai and foreign business over the past few months. I contacted them mainly because they have developments on Koh Chang and their business are doing very well. I asked them if they could do anything to resolve some of the Islands rubbish issues. I haven’t received one single reply…………….obviously the rubbish and sewage hasn’t deterred any of their customers from buying yet! Until this happens it’s sad to say nothing will be done.

  4. Banthai resort and restaurant – it’s a small boutique kind of place. Stayed there a few years ago and then again a few months ago. Owner told me that he was aiming to spruce it up (Best Check) before this year's high season if that’s the case it might suit your needs for around the 2k mark.

  5. Hi

We want to build a traditional Thai style house and have been looking at a company in Bangkok called Baansongthai. (Web site Bannsongthai.com) Just wondered if any of the forum members have had any dealings with the company and their views opinions on workmanship, delivery, completion on time etc.

    Thanks

  7. Hi,

I’m now settled back in the UK with wife, new, job, and new house now all we need is my stepdaughter to join us. Ray keen at the BE (British Embassy in Bangkok)) was a great help in answering questions about my wife’s visa and in a timely manner. However, he has moved offices even though he gave me a department email address no bugger has replied . Does anyone have the name and email of the person who’s taken over Ray Keens position? I tried to contact Ray but his out of the office.

    Cheers

  8. Pen - Agree that there is a lot of rubbish laying around just like every other Island here! Be very interested if you could point me in the direction of a rubbish free Island. I am into walking and found the Malibu location excellent. You can leave the resort and turn left and walk to Ao Lung Wang, Ao Tubtim, Ao Phai and Had Saikaew each beach is joined by a well-signed path. Leave the resort turn right and you can visit Lung dam, Ao Wai, Ao Kiu and Ao Pakarang this route does involve some walking on rocking terrain, but is not difficult and the beaches are empty and the water crystal.

Re Ao Prao – I stayed there about 2 years ago agree that the place is pleasurable if you just want to laze around the beach and pool. Now that I have seen both sides I would recommend the Ao Prao for sunbathing and reading - a total chill out, and the other side for adventure and excitement.

Thanks again to all and especially Thaiflyer.

PS I never encountered any European package tourists, hippys/backpackers,guitar carrying whiskey swilling Thai hooligans, thao hua ngoos + companions, but I did see a lot of dogs, again just like any other Thai Island

    cheers

  9. Ghengis,

Hi, many thanks for all the info. I will concentrate on getting the home and job requirements sorted and then will go for the visa. Like you say the guys at the embassy are just doing their jobs, so if they get all the required info proving that we have a genuine relationship, then things should work out. My girlfriend has already been to the UK to meet my family on a one-month tourist and I have a number of other bits of factual evidence that I will add to the file. Wow I think that I was getting paranoid about the whole process.

    Thanks again for the advice

PS I have a number of emails from the guy you mention at the embassy, I wrote to him about my girlfriend tourist visa and also my own one-year Thai visa. Do you think its worth adding these to the file or will they check their own records?
