Must have been "brake failure" on the dog's part.

NEVER trust house wiring in this country. In my houses the FIRST thing installed is a simple 200Baht Knife switch between the meter and the house. Flip that and both the hot and neutral wires are completely disconnected from the mains. No possibility of a shock then.

So don’t wear your mask when you go outside and don’t wash your hands. You would not feel the same if you were in the ICU on your death bed. Then your tune would change. Sorry to say but people who think Covid 19 is some kind of conspiracy to control the worlds’ population, need to give their head a shake. Can you provide at least one piece of credible evidence to support this?
Don't waste your time trying to reason with a paranoid who gets his info from Youtube videos...

Could be right, but it also reports that he crashed his motorbike in a ditch, maybe because he was under the influence of drugs, who knows?
Crashing a motorbike into a ditch on Phangan is as common as a soup cart in a 7-11 parking lot...

Um, did anybody read the section on DEATH PENALTY for selling or distributing? The dark web is not your friend and neither are these hallucinogens and psychedelics. Why do so many westerners come here thinking it's easy and has no down side? Have you met anyone that's been into the court system over drugs? Do you think you're exempt because you are special, or magical or clever not to get caught? You will eventually get caught up in this and let me tell you that the other side of this, the court and legal side, is a very very serious place that you never, never want to be. To all of those formulating their blithe response as you read this -- check yourself -- why do you need drugs in the first place? Why do you think this country is the place to do it? These are rhetorical questions. Check yourself. And if everyone you're hanging out with does them then ask yourself are these really friends or people who make me feel normal about f*ing with my brain and life. Responses to this message will not be read.
Wow! You sound like a real fun guy...

Right.....expect a SWAT team there next week.
I'm guessing you've been keeping tabs if you know there's definitely so many.
Koh Phangan is CRAWLING with foreigners working without a proper visa or work permit. It's a chronic problem.

If he is in the US now he will not be able to get a non-o visa anywhere while there. They do not issue them.
His only choice will be to either apply for a single entry tourist visa or enter visa exempt. Then apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration. Then during the last 30 days of the 90 days apply for a new extension of stay based upon retirement.
I got a 3-month single entry non-o visa in Miami this year.

Is there no government hospital?
With free health care for your Thai wife?
Even the 250bht for 'meds' from the local pharmacy sounds unlikely.
Did you make this story up?
The Phangan Govt hospital is not very well equipped. I have no problem with paying for proper care from an Intl hospital, and over the years my wife and I have been very satisfied with the care we have received. Yes, the necessary meds were purchased in Thong Sala for 250Baht (what the hell do you mean by "unlikely"??? That's just a stupid comment.
Lastly, why in the world would I waste my time making up this story? You must lead a very boring life. Stop commenting and go back to your Big Changs....

The Govt hospital(which is actually NOT in Thong Sala, but a few km North) is the last place we would go, and we've lived here(full time) for 19 years. Any other inane comments?

What a totallly cynical, ignorant, and moronic comment. "Hubby", in his former life, was a paramedic with extensive medical training. "Hubby thought it was appropriate to take his wife of 15 years to the hospital, since it was 2am and no pharmacies were open. Wife used "bad language"? "Screw this. Take me home"... Wow! Real vulgar! As for "working with the staff", you must have had some bad experiences with Thai women(probably YOUR fault). I have not. Ever. Get a life, man...

Just a little heads-up to Phangan residents/visitors. My (local Thai) wife and I live close to Bandon Hospital, and have used their services several times during the last few years. 2 nights ago my wife had a sudden onset of severe stomach cramps and diarrhea. At 2am I drove her to the hospital. After taking down some basic information and pulling her file, we were sent to an examination room. A few minutes later the pharmacist/cashier walked in and told us the the bill would be at least 13,000Baht! I asked her "for what?". She said "for the doctor and the medicine". I told her that my wife hadn't even seen the doctor yet so nobody even knows what the problem IS, or what medicine might be needed. She just stood there with the famous Thai "1000 yard stare" and offered no further information. My wife, who has a good grasp of English slang, got off of the examining table, said "screw this", and told me to take her home. Her symptoms eased during the night, and as soon as the pharmacy opened we bought the recommended meds (250Baht). My wife is fine now. We will NEVER return to Bandon. I hope our experience was the exception, but I somehow doubt it...

The psuedo "mafia" has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Immigration and tourist police are checking for work permits, illegal businesses, and visa overstays. GOOD for them! These leeches just make things more difficult for those of us who follow the rules by putting everyone under increased government scrutiny.

An American husband and wife team who ran a Web design business successful enough to be sold, and still relatively young, are unable to drum up one bank deposit of $25K which will allow their mother to stay in Thailand until she passes.
During the course of their business careers, did they not forge strong enough relationships with clients or collaborators to be able to ask around for help now that they have a real problem?
Don't they have have any family or family friends in America? Is gathering $25K really such an insurmountable challenge?
Do they really think that living in Manila is going to be that much cheaper than Chiang Mai?
Do they understand how much harder it is to find a place to live there, and how much more expensive rent and utilities are?
Have they ever experienced the existential struggle of trying to find edible food in the Philippines?
Surely, if they had made any friends at all in during their 4 years in Thailand, someone would have pointed out that they can simply pay $600 per year for an agent to grease the wheels for them and stay right here in Chiang Mai. I mean, seriously, that is less that what their flights to Manila will cost them.My guess is that their back story is bullshit and this is an attempt to salt gullible people, farang and Thai, into donating money to them. They have no intention of folding up their tents and moving their circus to Manila.
Wow. Aren't you just a ray of sunshine...

They should build a hospital or clinic with support groups for raped women on Kho Phangan. I wonder how many girls get raped there every year without getting any kind of help or treatment (included those who never report it)?
Have you ever even been to Phangan? I've lived her for 20 years and rapes are no more common here than anywhere else. Get your facts straight before giving your stupid barstool 2 satangs. Oh, you live in Pattaya. THAT explains it...
