  1. If you check statistics (Wiki), you will discover that Thailand has nearly as many gun deaths as the US - a country where everyone may own a gun...

The US has a much larger population that Thailand too. In actual fact you are more than 10 times more likely to be a victim of gun homicide in Thailand than in the US (33 per 100,000 in Thailand vs 3 per 100,000 in the US).

I life in Samut Sakhon. The last 8 month 3 Thai people were killed (in a circle of 20 Km from my house) by gun. Many people carry a gun here. One of my friends work for the newspaper. Sometime he show me pictures from killed people. I think the last year a lot of more peopke were killed in this small area. I don`t have the accurate numbers for this.
  2. Again, it is shameful that the US-Navy advertises so openly that the main reason for them to come to Thailand is Rest & Recreation.

In normal diplomatic wording it should have been called a courtesy visit from the US-Navy to Thailand.

According to my wife and father in law, and myself, the Vietnam era is long gone, and the US should behave like any respectful state.

Advertising the R&R so blatantly is very degrading for the Thai people.

<deleted>, are you on drugs or something ?

I fully agree with <deleted>. I know the US soldiers from Germany and their "friendliness" when the are drunken. Sorry that only what I see many years in my country. 2500 GI's will come to phuket. How can tis work ?? I dont understand the Navy to allow that.

  3. HERMABA, so you currently have permission to stay until 4 June 2009 based on your arrival in Thailand with your non-B visa. Any time during the last 30 days of this permission to stay, go to your local immigration office and apply for an annual extension of stay for the reason of retirement. You must meet the financial requirements outlined in clause 2.22 of Police Order 777/2551.

Thank you very much. Now everything is clear for me.

  4. Lite Bear thank you very much for your answer ! At the moment I have a multiple entry Non immigration VISA Type B which expires 14th of April 2009. Financial requirements I did last year ( deposit of 800.000 Baht on a Thai bank).

I am sorry but I still do not understand what you now have.

A Multi Entry Non B Visa does not need money in the bank.

A 12 month extension for Reirement needs 800,000 Baht in a bank.

Sorry for my confusing informations. At the moment I have a Multi entry NON B Visa which expires on 14th April 2009. I want to stay here in Thailand and want to have a new Visa Type O "A" ( long stay). I know, If you want to do this , normally you come in with a NON O visa and apply then for long stay. In my case I come in with multi entry NON B and want to do the same for long stay.

Additional confusing for me was, that on my arrival on the 4th march at the airport they stamped only 30 days duration for my visit in my Passport. (should be 90 days) So I went today to BKK immigration and changed this to 4 th of June which was very easy ( if you know how to do) and cost no money. Just go to counter 519 (ground floor) called "Stamp correction" and ask for the change. The lady also told me in June I can go to my local Immigration office and ask for the wanted long stay visa. (Can not do in BKK). All people at the immigration were very friendly. Dont need to wait too long. I think , for the moment everything is o.k. I will see in June what happens. Thank's again for your support.

  5. I am sorry but I have no idea what Visa you have now. Is it a Multi Entry Non B or is it a Single Entry.

Also a Non Imm O-A Visa can only be applied for in your own country. Not in Thailand.

You are talking about a 12 month extension of stay based on retirement. We really have to know what Visa you have at the moment.

Here are the rules for extensions. The rule for retirement is 2.22

If you now have a Non Imm B Visa you can apply if you meet the financial reqirements.

Lite Bear thank you very much for your answer ! At the moment I have a multiple entry Non immigration VISA Type B which expires 14th of April 2009. Financial requirements I did last year ( deposit of 800.000 Baht on a Thai bank).

  6. Hi All,

need help for some visa questions.

I have a VISA Type B (business) in my Passport valid until 14. April this year. The immigration at the airport stamped date of leaving th country is the 4 th of April. (Normaly I can stay 90 days for each trip. Actaully it should be the 4th of june) Is this corret ? Can I extend this visa for 90 days ? Normaly the duration of one stay is 90 days, but in this case 90 days will be longer then the vaildity of the visa.

I ask this question because I want to apply for a long stay Visa at the immigration in my town where I stay at the moment. ( I just stopped work for my company and want to stay in Thailand the whole year. I am 53 years old).I know normally I should have an Type O visa in my Passport-than everything is easy. The lady at the immigration told me that I have to go first to the immigration BKK an ask for an extension untill the 6th of June. In June I can come back and can ask for an long stay visa. Now I am a little bit confused if this is correct ? Why she can not extend my VISA Type B or do now the permitt for long stay?

    Thank you for help.

  7. As I have said before you can buy a mini excavator for about 120,000 baht and then you have a real backhoe. Of course you also have another piece of plant to use (read play with) or hire out!

    Have a look at: http://www.jssr.co.th/cgi-bin/eng/list_res...rgory=EXCAVATOR

Thank you very much for the advise. Very good idea ! Internet page also very helpfull for an overview of the price for such kind of maschine. For the first step I think I will look for an used mini excavator.

  8. Hi all, I just stoped work in Germany and come to Thailand for starting farming with my thai girl frind. ( we live in sumit sakhon , 50 km south of Bangkok) She already do the farming the last 20 years on a 30 Rai fruit and vegetabel plant ( lemon tree and dragon fruit). I want to buy a small tractor ( 20 to 40 hrsp) now for make life more easy the next years. On the farm we have a lot of water distribution channels, Therfore I need a tractor combined with a backhoe and front loader to clear and change the water direction. I want to do also some work for farming , like put chemie , cut grass and open the earth for planting. I already checked the threat and I visited the several companies near Dong Muan airport. I see the new Kubota and also the Yanmar tractors. Very nice , but all this maschines can not be equipt with a backhoe. One guy told me this type of maschine is not very common in Thailand. I see a very nice tractor from Kubota on the internet site of Australia. Called DX 24 and D26. But it seems that this kind of equipment in not available in Thailand. Does somebody now where I can find this type of tractor ??

    Hermaba,

There are backhoes made in Thailand and I have seen one fitted to a 45HP Yanmar. The issue you will have is matching the hydraulic requirements to those on the tractor. The unit I saw had an auxilliary pump which was electrically driven from the tractor to drive the backhoe. In my case I have an Iseki 28Hp with a FEL which I bought second hand in Rangsit, and can get a second hand backhoe from Japan. The issue with my tractor is the hydraulics like the PTO are driven directly from the engine crankshaft and hence are engine speed dependant. In the case of a small HP tractor that means high revs.

In terms of cost, about 120,000 baht will buy you a new unit.

Finally, as has been stated by many on these forum, small tractors can do most things big ones can, only it takes longer.

    Isaanaussie,

Thank you very much for the usefull information. I will try to fnd the local company. I think the problem is, that in this area near Bangkok are not so many large farm located and therefore not so many companies offer farm equipment.

  9. Hello HERMABA, the Thai made small red tractor have a B/H attachment, saw one again last week at the ag show here n Korat. If you go to this thread and go to post #23 the first tractor listed has what your asking about. I do not know if this will mount on other brand tractors or not???? It gives the Korat phone number, they should be able to give you a dealer closer to you. I have a old price list for them, I will try to find and give the price.

    rice555

Hello Rice and slapout, thank you very much for the informations. I will contact the mentioned company. I will keep you informed. Today I just looked at the new small KUBOTA B2420 ( 24 HRSP) which comes for 275,000 BAHT. But for 100,000 more you can habe the YANMAR with 35 hrsp (400,00 Baht) and the possibility to connect an front loader ( which comes for 110 000 Baht). Difficult, always the question what you realy need and what you like to have to.

    Kind regards HERMABA
